Awasi Santa Catarina (Santa Catarina, Brazil) 1 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"That more than a few guests arrive by private helicopter gives some sense of the sort of place Ponta dos Ganchos Resort is. Occupying a prime spot on the sandy white Emerald Coast in the southern province of Santa Catarina, the property is pleasantly removed from Brazil’s highly developed resort scene. No Copacabana-style contemporary high-rises are to be found on this section of the shoreline — just twenty-five privately sited cabanas, scattered across the lush natural landscape." - Tablet Hotels

Awasi Santa Catarina, Near Florianopolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil - Explore & Book

"Located on a private peninsula near Florianópolis on Brazil's south coast, this stunning property (formerly called Ponta dos Ganchos) is one of the country's most exclusive beach resorts. A ridge of Atlantic rainforest runs down to the water, where 3 tiny islands horseshoe around a sandy bay. A thatched restaurant idles 10 feet from the beach, but paddle across to one of the islands and you find a bar that’s illuminated by torches at night. You're in the middle of nowhere here, and Awasi delivers the dream: idyllic landscapes of emerald sea and forest, contemporary interiors in 25 beautiful cabanas (some with private plunge pools, saunas and Jacuzzis) and service that’s second to none (breakfast can be served at any hour of the day). Follow the coast round on either side and you come to tiny fishing villages, but most stay put and bask in luxury. There’s an indoor pool, tennis and volleyball, even a private cinema. Snorkelling, diving (including tuition), canoeing, sailing and boat trips are also on offer. Highs Fabulous position on the side of a hill with dazzling views of Ganchos Bay The beach: small, but it's very picturesque, private and you'll be pampered on it Clear, calm water ideal for swimming Deeply luxurious cabanas, all with private sea view decks; some with plunge pools A private cinema: spurn the sun and watch your favourite movie Lows The price tag is high although the daily rate includes breakfast and use of all nautical equipment. Be prepared for wild premiums by any standard for Christmas, New Year and Carnaval The staff are young and friendly but some are rather inexperienced and speak only limited English This is a quiet spot, with no nightlife to speak of (the hotel bar was deserted in the evenings); the nearest big town (Florianópolis) is 45km away No children under the age of 14" - Aidan Forestier-Walker

It is a pleasure for me to take the time to write this review. Also, it is a much larger pleasure for me to say that this is the VERY-BEST HOTEL that I have ever stayed in my life. Most of the best 5* hotels that I've ever stayed and enjoyed would be roughly a 3* hotel compared to Ponta Dos Ganchos. I've had read some reviews before going there, and most of them were fabulous but a few --I cannot understand those few opinions. Really. If you ever decide to travel there based on this review, you have my permission to write me directly if it does not meet your expectations. Short list of Pros and Cons:||PROS: EVERYTHING! |-The service: the best service we've ever enjoyed. There are ready for every need you may have and you will never get a "no" for an answer. |-The kindness and attention of the staff: part of the service, but it deserves a separate chapter, is the kindness and attention of all the staff. They are definitely professionals. And big time. Junior, Mayzon, Lucas, German, Cleverson, every one of them helps make this place a unique place.|-The-Most-Romantic-Ever: out of this world, everything is ready for a romantic and private ocassion with your love one. |-The Bungalows: wow. That's all I can say because I do not want to spoil anything. Wow. Wow. Wox x 1.000.000 times. We stayed in Vila Especial Bungalow. Wow. You have your own pool, your own deck with chairs to sunbath, you own sauna, your own yacuzzi... in short, you own palace. |-The restaurants: beautiful, complete, cozy.|-The food: incredible. Great everything. Seafood, entres, desserts, meat. We couldn't stop enjoying their Kir Royales.|-The special events: Dinner on the Island, Dinner in Veleza, just lovely and romantic. Several steps dinners prepare for only those who booked the experiencia, you can have a romantic dinner, alone with your spouse/wife/significant other/whoever you are with. |-The whole place is FANTASTIC. The gym, small but good enough. Swimming pool: there is a large one that I did see but didnt use because we had our own pool in the room. The Loja, where we got some nice stuff as souvenir. The breakfast restaurant, from where you can see the coast. The flowers and plants of the whole place, in the middle of the sounds from birds, insects, the win. Total and relaxing natural silence. ||CONS:|-The only CON I may find is if you drive from Florianopolis airport AT NIGHT. I DID NOT DO IT, so this is not an educated opinion but just a guessing. The road from Florianopolis is quite nice and an easy ride, except for the last 20' where there are a lots of zigzaging and closed curves as you travel by the cost and into higher terrains. Some passages of the road reminded me those of the Amalfi Coast in Italy. So, the only thing that I can recommend is to drive there while there still is sunlight. ||If you are looking for a romantic and reserved place, in a luxury environment, with the highest level of proffesional service that the hotel business can provide, this is the place. I can guarantee that. We were so possitively shocked that we are already making our plans to visit again next year.

This hotel is undoubtedly one of the best we have experienced in Latin America and ranks among our top stays globally for its type. Comparable in attention to detail and service to the Relais & Châteaux network or luxury hotels in the USA, we enjoyed a very personalized experience due to its limited number of rooms. The property blends with nature in a very serene atmosphere. The cuisine is consistently excellent, from breakfast through to dinner.||||We concur with all the positive reviews previously posted.||||A couple of useful tips:||||- The entrance to the hotel is only discreetly marked with a symbol on an intercom on a small fishing village. It's best to use GPS to find it or follow the provided directions if you're driving.||- The spa offers wonderful massages. The setting, with the sounds of waves and birds, adds to the relaxation. Special thanks to Janaina and Carina for their expert massages.

Brazil is a huge country, has beaches all along its coast and tourism is very developed. They have enormous quantity of hotels but not in the upper luxury segment.|This hotel is a surprise for Brazil. It compares to any top luxury sea side resort in Europe. |It is owned by 2 partners who developed it and is managed by a Swiss descendant hotelier.|The location is on a hill overlooking a beach, nestled between 3 little islands, one of them accesible by a foot bridge.|They have 2 restaurants plus a breakfast room. Menus and food are of top quality.|The rooms consist of cottages spread out over the hill, of different sizes and categories.|We had an Esmeralda cottage and a Arvoredo cottage.|Both had a huge deck overlooking the sea, private pool, sauna, living room, plus bedroom.|Everything is decorated with taste and quality.|Landscaping throughout the property has been done In a wonderful way taking advantage of the Brazilian Flora with lush green leaves species.|They have a gym, indoor pool and massage area.|Staff comes from the little village on the doorsteps of the hotel and are extremely kind and well trained. Attention to detail is everywhere, from housekeeping to the restaurants and reception area. |Internet and AC work perfectly. Bathrooms are huge with fantastic shower heads. Just relaxing on the private deck viewing the sea is paradise. |I would say that this hotel with only 25 bungalows is a rare outstanding exception in Brazil’s hotel environment. I know Brazil quite well and have never seen such a property. It reminds me the hotel IL Pellicano in Italy, another 5 stars top luxury resort on the sea.

It’s absolutely wonderful. |Staff is incredible! A huge shout out to: Herman that made our experience very sweet - sharing his love of Argentinean dulce de leche with us! |Wylian that was very kind in every breakfast! Very attentive! |The concierge team that made our stay very pleasant and wowed us everyday with something special. ||We did standup paddle boarding, relaxed at the beach, did hiking and enjoyed our private pool and jacuzzi a lot!!! ||We plan to come back very soon!

The hotel is located in a very beautiful spot north of Florianopolis, overlooking the bay. The area of the resort is very large and there are only 25 bungalows, so it never gets crowded and most of the time you do not see other guests despite full occupancy. This is really great for people who like to have lot of privacy, I really appreciated very much. Please note that there is only a very small beach and the Quality of the beach (sand, water etc)is ok but not outstanding. ||Everything is spread out, there is one small house for the reception, one for the breakfast room, one for the lunch and dinner restaurant and one for the pool and spa/gym. Be aware that the hotel is built on a hilly area so you need to walk sometimes steep up or ask for a buggy. I liked these walks as the whole area has soo much green plants and flowers, really well maintained and beautiful. I even saw some Iguana and Capivaras. ||The bungalows are all large with much space, a bedroom and a separate living area, terrace overlooking the bay and a small jacuzzi. Some even have a sauna. I recommend to book the Esmeralda as they are newer than the others (the others show their age and some appliances are not Up to date). The Esmeralda bungalow is really nice, lots of space also for your belongings, two toilets, two sinks, two wardrobe, a sauna, a jacuzzi inside and also one outside on the large terrace. There is 100 percent privacy as you do not see any neighbors from your bungalow. Really very relaxing. I spent much time on my terrace enjoying the peace and the view.||The breakfast is very good with healthy choices and excellent fresh fruits. Lunch and dinner is also good, I especially liked the shrimp salad and the risotto with crayfish, excellent quality and taste. They have an extensive wine list with focus on local Brazilian and South American wines. Only downside: they tend to overcook the meat, but they made some great efforts in order that we have our meat the way we liked it. For dessert I highly recommend the fried banana, excellent.||Alll staff members are extremely friendly, and they are genuinely friendly. They often talk to you and smile, so you feel comfortable. The are also very helpful and flexible and try to accommodate your wishes. Sometimes it takes very long to get some drinks or food, but with their friendliness you can easily forget the long wait. I also appreciate the attention of the management, they really try to do their very best to make your stay enjoyable. ||Tennis court, pool, kayak, SUP, private boat trips etc - many activities are offered and are worth to explore.||Overall a great stay, as mentioned I liked the privacy and the friendly staff. Thanks to the whole staff and management for their great efforts.

I had the pleasure of staying here for 5 nights in January. The weather was sadly not wonderful - often cloudy, some rain (particularly at night) and only 1 truly beautiful sunny beach day. However, this was obviously not the fault of the hotel which was spectacular. Just some food for thought if you think about going in mid-January!||||We stayed in Bungalow 9 which was in their base category so no private pool or hot tub. However, it was very nice and spacious with two private outdoor spaces. ||||I assume the hotel was at full capacity all or most of the nights we were there, but as people mention, it never feels crowded. You can get a prime seat at the restaurant whenever you want, for example. ||||I love their vibe of taking it easy, no worries. For example, breakfast has no end time, no reservations needed for the restaurants and they're very flexible about spa appointment changes/cancellations (they just ask you inform them 2 hours in advance). It's definitely got this barefoot, relaxed, but still ultra-luxurious vibe. We never had to call for housekeeping because they clearly knew when we were out and and about and would send someone to clean. It felt very turn-key. ||||We had wrapped trekking in Patagonia so we were mostly just in the mood to relax. We went to the beach daily and used the complimentary equipment - paddleboards, canoe, snorkeling gear, etc. The water is really pretty, loungers are comfortable and service is attentive.||||Shout out to the wonderful staff including Renaud (from the restaurant on the beach) and Isadora who made sure we were taken care of. Everyone was really nice and welcoming! Luxury without the pretense. Wouldn't hesitate to come back!
