Poovar Island Resort

We, a bunch of friends, took their daycation package and it was worth it! The resort is right in the backwaters so they come pick you up from a designated spot in a motorized boat. After a 5 min ride, you get to the massive 20-some acre resort and the welcome was warm. The host was courteous to give a quick verbal tour of the do's and don'ts before we went ahead with our activities. There are a lot of spots to take photos for populating your social media (in fact, too much) and we went ahead with the activities like cricket (nets), basketball, indoor games like TT, carroms and other mini-adventure games, some of which are outside the package. The buffet lunch that followed was good with a lot of items to choose from. Nothing fancy as it was mainly Indian with a couple of Chinese/Continental options but they're more than enough to satisfy your tummy. The 1 hour boating was extra, where they take you around the resort but IMO, if you ain't much of a birdwatcher or pure naturist, it's best to skip them as honestly, you'd get bored after the first 5-10 minutes. Otherwise ask them to take you to the nearby beach, where you'd have much more options to do. The pool is also available at your disposal and it's kept neat and clean. The day ended with a cup of coffee and usual snacks from the makeshift "chayakada" in the courtyard and that was it. A great experience overall and I'd suggest it for a bunch of friends who's looking to unwind for a day, on a budget.

I had a bitter experience of stay at Poover. The location, garden. Pool etc are very well placed and attractive. Two issues: 1. Poor maintenance of the rooms. They are quite dated 2. PATHETIC service. It takes hours for the staff to respond. The room was without electricity all night. Telephone not working. Response too slow

Our stay at Poovar Island Resort was truly delightful. The resort offers a rare combination of lake and beach views, and the boat ride to reach the property adds a magical touch. The hospitality was top-notch, with lots of indoor and outdoor activities to keep us engaged. The delicious food was definitely a highlight.

We stayed at Poor Island Resort for two nights and had a very good overall experience. The property itself is beautiful and well-located on the island. Service was very prompt throughout our stay, and the rooms and common areas were neat and clean. Breakfast was very good with a wide variety of options, and the service staff was extremely courteous and helpful. Considering the price, the service and overall experience were definitely value for money. The only suggestion I would like to make is regarding the furniture, which feels quite old and could be replaced to maintain the luxury feel of such a nice property. Overall, we had a very good experience at Poor Island Resort and would recommend it to everyone

We visited in Jan 2026 with my family. Rooms are clean. Room service is also good. Food was awesome. Location is very nice. There is a complimentary boat take you to the beach. Lots of greenery at the resort. This place is really very beautiful. We loved to visit again.

Poovar Island Resort offers an absolutely amazing view with a peaceful and refreshing atmosphere. The buffet food was delicious with a good variety of options. I never wanted to leave the place because the experience was so relaxing and beautiful. The rain made the surroundings even more magical and memorable. With adventure games and stunning scenery, it is truly an amazing place for photography and relaxation.

Had a wonderful stay at Poovar Island Resort! The property is beautiful and surrounded by nature — the location truly makes it feel like a peaceful getaway. The floating cottages and views of the backwaters are stunning. Rooms were spacious, clean, and well-maintained, giving a very relaxing vibe. The staff was polite and cooperative, though service at times could have been a little quicker. The food options were good, especially the local Kerala cuisine. Overall, a great experience for families and couples looking for a quiet escape amidst nature. Would definitely recommend visiting at least once!

Had a very memorable stay at Poovar Island Resorts. This was the first time that I was ferried by a boat to a resort. The resort itself is spread over a large area with good greenery, serenity and silence. My recommendation is that a visitor should at least spend two nights at this resort. A day can be spent a short ride and visit to the near by beach (again by boat), and another day can just be spent relaxing at the resort. The resort also has an excellent restuarant which serves South & North Indian food items as well as a few European/Continental dishes as well. I stayed at a cottage which was on the land. The room was spacious and also had a varendah facing the greenery outside. The resort also has "floating cottages", but this may not be very comfortable to all. There are a few activities suited for children as well. Some cottages had a worn out look, with furniture and fixtures being a bit shaky/unstable. The check in and check out process was also a bit lengthy, which I felt was due to a small number of reception staff having to do all the process. The staff of the resort were also friendly and willing to help the visitor with a smile.
