Tries "Cardiac Cajun", a po' boy featuring crawfish-boiled sausage, fried shrimp (breaded in flour, salt, black pepper, cayenne, paprika, granulated garlic, dried onion, clove, sugar, and a fish fry blend of flour and cornmeal, and marinated in yellow mustard, buttermilk, Louisiana hot sauce, more black pepper, granulated garlic, granulated onion and cayenne) glazed in a sweet and spicy sauce (local cane syrup, chili, garlic and Sriracha sauce), pepper jack cheese.

Pop's Poboys in Lafayette is a definite must-try. I went with the Banh Banh shrimp poboy, and it was fantastic. The grilled marinated gulf shrimp, chili garlic mayo, pickled carrots, cucumbers, and cilantro all came together perfectly. The house-cut fries were also delicious. My friend's oyster poboy was equally impressive. I've eaten here multiple times, and the food is consistently excellent.

I ordered the John Cho Poboy for takeout from Pop’s Poboys, and I have to say I was disappointed. When I got my poboy, it didn’t look anything like what was advertised on their website. The presentation was lacking, and it just didn’t meet my expectations. Unfortunately, the taste didn’t make up for it either—it was underwhelming and not as flavorful as I had hoped. For the price, I expected something much better. Definitely not worth a repeat order.

Google
Pop’s Poboys was a great dining experience. The combination of fried pickles and a 6 inch Poboy was delicious, and everything was made with much care. The service there was excellent as all the staff were very friendly. I would definitely recommend this to everyone looking to eat some good grub at a chill spot.

Google
I had a taste for catfish and found a great choice. Another spot I considered only serves on Fridays 👎. I ordered the Boudreaux po boy and a pops island 🏝️ iced tea. I was only able to finish half of the po boy because I underestimated the size of this thing. It’s loaded with catfish, tartar and a delicious coleslaw. And the cream soda in the iced tea didn’t disappoint. Very chill place. Great customer service. I’d definitely return to try the rest of the menu.

Google
One word, PHENOMENAL!!! Now for the review. A wide variety of Poboys and sides. All ingredients are fresh. The meat is cooked to perfection. Fresh French bread. The greens and okra are a must. Check to see what their weekly special is when you die in. Also, pet friendly. I will definitely be back when I pass through Lafayette.

Google
Order at counter and food comes to your table super fast. We all agreed the burger patties tasted good. Sauces were flavorful. Fries were good. Patio dining area was really comfortable. Friendly staff. But…all in all, not worth a $30 meal.

Google
Another favorite burger place in Lafayette. I ordered the double cheeseburger, which was delicious. The taste of the meat is very good. The homemade potato chips are very good also. They have a great tasting burger, well constructed on a delicious toasted bun that hold up well. A great spot to enjoy great food downtown Lafayette

My son and best friend went for lunch today. 5 stars across!! My new favorite place. The food is delicious and priced nice. The drinks...ummm yes please. The staff are amazing and are ready available to help any way they can. I love this place and it's such a great vibe too!!!!

Yelp
This is our usual stop when we pass through. They do salads now too. Your favorite Po on a salad. Ask for the PoBowl. Best Po's in the area! Best Po's period!

Yelp
Very clean and inviting and great customer service. Price was reasonable. I ordered shrimp po-boy. The bread was very chewy, doughy and tasted heavy. Typically French bread for poboys is very light and crisp. The poboy wasn't fully dressed, no pickles. The tomatoes were soggy and so was the shrimp. I started eating it within 10 mins of getting it, and it was still hot so I assume everything was just soggy. I'm from New Orleans so maybe things are different here but I did not finish my Poboy. It was pretty bad.

Yelp
A solid Po-By in Acadiana. For a boy who grew up in Nola, I get pretty judgy when it comes to po-boys. I go on rants about the proper bread and all sorts of nonsense. It probably makes people think I am a douche, which may be true, but you shouldn't judge others weird food rants lest your weird food rants be judged. All that nonsense aside, Pop's is great. I found myself at Pop's one day for lunch after learning they could make any po-boy into a salad. All the taste of a po-boy but few carbs? Sign me up. I opted for the Jack special which is basically a ferdi with the addition of turkey. It was surprisingly great as a salad. The star of the salad was the shockingly good debris. The debris was so good that all that nonsense Nolier than thou talk I had in store because it was a po-boy not in Nola. I had a great meal and opened my mind to the concept of po-boys outside of New Orleans. Win - Win.

Yelp
Saw this place on man vs food so we wanted to try it. The poboys were ok. Grilled shrimp didn't have much flavor and the fried oysters were a little floury tasting. We also got hush puppies with a sweet butter and tartar sauce. The sauces were nice. Our daughter got the kids fried shrimp basket and those were really nice. I would have given 3 stars if the staff wasn't so nice.
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot for po boys right in downtown Lafayette. They have rotating specials and we got a boudin po boy, which was their seasonal special, as well as a shrimp po boy. Both were excellent. Friendly staff and good vibes. Can't ask for too much more.

Yelp
Pop's used to be a good place when we couldn't decide where to go when visiting Lafayette but we had the worst experience. We ordered the satsuma old fashioned but asked for it to be in a real glass instead of a plastic cup. The bartender was very confused and instead of putting it in a glass old fashioneds are typically served in she put it in a tall glass and poured soda to the top. It was so sweet and I couldn't drink it. We ordered a wedge salad and a situation to split. The wedge salad was good and I enjoyed it, but the situation was cold. I opened it as soon as it was delivered to us and it wasn't even warm. I don't think we'll be going back.

Buddy V.

Yelp
My partner shared a Banh Banh Shrimp and fries. We went with grilled shrimp. The po boy is balanced and flavorful. I liked that it was complex without being unnecessarily complicated And the fries were fresh tasting. We needed no salt and no ketchup. Service is friendly.

Yelp
First time here and I have to say, this place was great. They have a great variety of non-traditional po boys, but also offer traditional favorites like the roast beef po boy. That's what I ordered and I left impressed. The gravy had a great flavor and it didn't take much, so the poboy was not sloppy and held together. The bread is amazing and tasted like it was just baked. Growing up in New Orleans, I have had all of the top po boys and this was not too far from those. I will be back.
google avatar

Misty D.

Yelp
Hands down the best poboys! They have unique flavors choices. Not just the usual. The Castro is my favorite. They do offer flavors or specials of the month. Their fried pickled okra is to die for!! Must try them. If you place an order to go they are pretty fast.

Yelp
Great food. One of my fav spots to stop when I'm in town. I ordered togo this last time and I honestly couldn't tell if the workers hated me or their job. I am not a sensitive person and I worked in the service industry for 8 years. I get it can be rough especially during the holidays but maybe choose a person that smiles to work the front counter.
google avatar

Yelp
I wanted a po' boy while we are visiting family in town and my father-in-law recommended we try this place. A great call! The restaurant is bright and modern inside with plenty of seating. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. We had two of their specialty shrimp po'boys and I tried a French 75 as well while my husband enjoyed a beer. The sandwiches came quickly and were both delicious in completely different ways. Bread was soft and had great chew. We truly enjoyed our lunch and were in and out quickly without ever feeling rushed. I am already looking forward to coming back the next time I am in town!

Yelp
Absolutely love the food and the staff very friendly. There was a lot to choose from, I I couldn't make up my mind.

Yelp
I got the debris poboy. The name is suiting for the sandwich. It was absolute trash. I would not recommend this. I bit into a fatty layer of skin from the beef roast. So gross!!!!!! The mimis macaroni is excellent. As well as most of the appetizers As for the poboys.. not so much.
google avatar

Kim O.

Yelp
Holy moly! This place is tucked away in an unassuming part of downtown. You order at the counter and then sit. We had Shrimp Poor Boys, Burger Poor Boy, and some kind of pork poor boy. All of them were excellent. The shrimp poor boys came out hot, fresh, and over flowing with freshly fried shrimp. I managed half!! The other poor boys were quickly devoured as well. Highly recommend if you are in the area. Service is fast and efficient.

Yelp
Seen this place advertised on facebook so I wanted to give them a try.. The customer service was on point but the boiled crawfish sausage poboy lacked flavor to me.. and I purchased something to drink since I don't drink soda so I got a can of water which was 2.00. Never in my life have I ever heard of Canned water until today. The fries were 8.00 and It was a bit overpriced to me. For these fries?

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. I had the Hot Hot Nashville chicken poboy and my husband had the shrimp poboy. Both were so so good! Delicious sandwiches that were hot, in temperature, the entire time.

James R.

Yelp
My wife and I split an order of Marty Mac-fry and a Boudreaux poboy. We both thought it was entirely delicious. Food was served promptly. The frozen cocktails were delicious as well.

Jordan P.

Yelp
I've eaten at Pops many of times and it never disappoints! My favorite is the hot hot chicken, with the hot sauce on the side. You'll love the place, very hip and the staff is always amazing.
google avatar

Yelp
This is probably the best fancy poboy I've ever had. I loved the bread. I loved the selection. There is full on alcohol here. The service is great. You don't have to worry about splitting checks too it's counter service style. And it is located in the heart of downtown. Amazing. I ordered the Boudreaux which is buttermilk fried catfish on a soft bun. I wish I had ordered two of these. That sauce on there, I think it was an okra tartar sauce. Gave it an earllthy flavor mixed with the mixed worked super well. It was messy but so good. I really want to try everything on that menu but I think the Hot Hot might be my next option. I always said that old tyme is my favorite poboy place. But now I have to say old tyme is my favorite old fashioned poboy place. Pops is my favorite bougie poboy place!

Yelp
Absolutely DELICIOUS! I had the half shrimp banh banh. It had amazing hot (temperature) shrimp with a great sauce. Complimented perfectly by cold veggies and a toasted bread. The mac n cheese was ordered as a side and was served with spaghetti noodles which is different but made perfect sense. The cheeses used are American and cheddar with the cheddar being on top and broiled. It came out bubbling hot and full of flavor. It wasn't rich but wasn't bland either. Perfect balance. The staff is super friendly and presents a clean, inviting space. There was a small line but it moves quick. Food: 100/10 Environment: 10/10 Staff: 10/10 Overall: 150/10 Amazing must have!

Yelp
Nice place, good food, be a few times and no issues what so ever. Enjoyed the atmosphere and friendly service.

Yelp
This is a great place to stop in the way to NOLA. Fast service, delicious po boy and great drinks.

Jerry L.

Yelp
Had a wonderful po-boy, service was prompt and courteous. Would recommend for local cuisine.

Yelp
Great poboy bread. The oysters were super fresh although a little large for my personal taste. All in all; excellent. Lafayette is a great little city.

Yelp
Overall, if you want a 2.0 version of a subway, but way better quality and just a little more expensive, I highly recommend this place! Everything on the menu was delicious! Drink: Mango Margarita: I didn't drink it but my friends loved it! 1. Pimento cheese with fire crackers ($8.50) 2. Smothered collared greens: collards, turnips, mustard, bacon. ($5.00) 3. Mini Mac n cheese ($7.00) 4. Half hot hot: Nashville style HOT fried chicken, blue plate mayo, dill pickles, green onion buttermilk ranch. ($9.00) 5. Half red bean falafel: red beans & chick pea fritter, cayenne tzatziki, lettuce tomato. ($8.00) 6. Italian Scallion: sliced ham, salami, mortadella, and provolone dressed in tomatoes, lettuce, red onions, banana peppers, Calabria chilli mayo, and Scallion vinaigrette!volone dressed in tomatoes, lettuce, red onions, banana peppers, Calabria chilli mayo, and Scallion vinaigrette

Yelp
Honestly, I've never had a bad meal here. The food and service have always been great and pleasant, respectfully. There latest creation, "The Bae of Pigs" needs to be permanently placed on the daily menu!! I don't think I've ever enjoyed a PoBoy that was just simply as perfect as this one in quite some time. I'm not a picky eater at all and this thing had me in a trans! It was absolutely perfect! Please PLEASE PLEASE make "The Bae of Pigs" a permanent item on your menu!!

Yelp
Even in Louisiana, it's difficult to find a good poboy these days. Many restaurants that offer poboys serve them on soft hoggie rolls instead of authentic French poboy bread with inferior ingredients. Sacre' Bleu! To my delight, Pop's Poboys in downtown Lafayette serves up the best poboys outside of New Orleans. I visited Pop's while driving home to Pensacola from visiting my family's ranch in Texas just east of College Station. It made my day. I ordered a half size oyster poboy. It was served in the classic style; lightly breaded fried oysters on an 8" cut of French bread, a heaping pile of oysters with lettuce, roughly chopped tomatoes, crisp lettuce and mayonnaise. The oysters tasted like they were just just out of the water and were fried perfectly. The poboy bread was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Mon dieu; it was so good. If your ever on I10 driving through Lafayette, take the time to visit Pop's. The only comparable Poboy I've found is in NOLA at the Parkway Bakery or Casamentos. PS: ignore all those billboards on I10 near Lafayette that advertise "world famous" or "voted No. 1" Cajun food. Degoutante!

David H.

Yelp
Second time coming here and it's just as good as the first time, maybe better. As far as I know, pretty much any poboy on the menu is great and the additional offerings are quite nice too. It's a nice location and cozy building - it can get a little loud at times. My only issue is that the total spent can build up quickly so it's good to limit yourself a bit instead of ordering a lot of stuff to try but the food is worth the money.
google avatar

Steven S.

Yelp
Best PoBoy around! Food is clean hot and fresh great atmosphere.Highly recommend this place.

Charlie D.

Yelp
My review is not about the food. It's sanitary practices. The food is great every time I go and I would recommend it, but now I don't even want to eat there if at all. I will not be too picky and say that a hair net would be nice for people in the kitchen to wear but I do feel like if someone is handling food their hair should at least me pulled back and secured. All of the workers are really kind and sweet and it is a joy to go there each time, but this time one of the workers was consistently playing with her hair and she would pack and put the food in the bag. There was another worker that was in the kitchen ( not the cooks) who scratched her head. It made me very uncomfortable to want to try my food and to even look and examine it because I am squeamish. This place is great but after seeing that I will not be back for a long time if not at all. I didn't want to write this but it rubbed me completely the wrong way. I know hair nets are not fashionable but at least keep the hair tied back and possibly up.

Yelp
O M GEEEEEE BEST SHRIMP POBOY IVE EVER EATEN IN MY 38 years of living on this planet! My goodness. So soft and buttery and the shrimp are HUGE! i usually love to eat shrimp poboys with ketchup all over it but this didn't need it at all. I wish I lived in Lafayette so I could come here every day! I need to try them all.

Kennith V.

Yelp
1st time @ Pop's.....it was delicious. My wife had a 1/2 shrimp poboy and it was loaded with tasty shrimp. I had the Darlene, which is a meatball poboy but instead of marinara sauce it had a brown gravy like you would find on a roast beef poboy.....it was fantastic. Oh BTW...the French fries were off the chain.

Mixednutz W.

Yelp
awesome food & service never a bad experience here. if you like meatloaf you will definitely like this po boy

Yelp
small shop in downtown Lafayette. Poboys made to order and super tasty. Eclectic menu. I will be back on next trip to La.

Yelp
Got that Nonc Phil special today and it was quite tasty. Loaded with sliced beef, onions, and peppers. The dual combo of Whiz and Swiss made for sheer bliss. Great sandwich, a bit messy, but well worth it.

Yelp
Stopped by en route to NOLA from Houston, couldn't have been more pleased. The pimento cheese dip was so delightful, I wished I had ordered a second helping, but good lord the sandwiches! I ordered a half of the crawfish sausage and my bf ordered half of surf and turf. They were so massive, I don't know how one human could eat a whole! Impressively overstuffed and all ingredients fresh and tasty! Ordered a few frozen cocktails, very sugary as predicted, but when in Rome! My body was digesting the meal for days!

Jennifer D.

Yelp
Found this place on Yelp and after reading the reviews, decided to give them a shot. Y'all need to go there. To begin with we had the debris fries. It had cheesy spaghetti noodles, gravy, pickled onions, and fries in one sinful bowl of goodness. I ordered the 6 inch surf and turf and it was so good, that I ordered another to go for dinner later on. My little had the ham (hold the cheese) kids po-boy with fries and said it was good. My hubs had the special which was called the nonc. He planned ahead and ordered a whole so that he could have dinner later on. There are no fountain drinks but there are canned soft drinks and bottles of Sprite. There was a self-service area with water and paper cups which was totally fine for me. Service was great, bathrooms were clean, and parking was plentiful. We visited on a Saturday after 2. Can not wait to try another poboy when we return!

Yelp
I came looking for a debris Poboy and Pop's did not disappoint. We first tasted a debris Po boy at Jed's Local while on a food tour in Baton Rouge with Red Stick Tours. It was a party in my mouth. Two years later, I still remember. We found Pop's by googling Debris Poboy and it was the most highly rated. The meat was tender and flavorful. The bread was perfectly soft and the toppings were good (but I took off the lettuce and tomato in favor of the Crystal Hot Sauce on the table. We shared an order of fried pickles - they were lightly battered and served with a good ranch dressing (maybe homemade?). Pop's had a nice variety of beverages included several craft cocktails and beers. The atmosphere is urban and quick in and out. There is a bar in back. I recommend!

Yelp
When in louisiana, you have to get a po-boy, that's the rule right? We were visiting my fiance's alma mater and she would not stop raving about this place! I for one, love a good po-boy so I was psyched for it. Due to Covid, they are currently sitting people at a smaller capacity but they have a to go window outside where you can order and get your food. It's definitely an efficient system to props to them for setting it up. We ended up getting the mac and cheese, surf and turf poboy and the cardiac cajun... wow. These were all great. The pasta used in the mac and cheese was different then normal elbows and honestly went really well with the cheese. I am currently daydreaming about it right now. I ended up getting the full (12 inch) poboy and that was MORE than enough. The surf and turf had fried oyster and roast beef and packed a tangy punch. My fiance also swore by her cardiac cajun. One more thing, I had the vodka blood orange daiquiri and the rose daiquiri and they were FIRE. Our meal turned out a bit expensive, but for what we had - totally worth it!
google avatar

Chaunacey B.

Yelp
Well worth the detour off I-10 on your way through. We had shrimp & roast beef po-boys, fries and a variety of of house made sauces. Plus, Bloody Marys to-go! It was the perfect picnic. They are doing a top job with social-distancing and safety protocols too!
google avatar

Dodd D.

Yelp
This is my favorite po boy spot in lafayette. Dependable quality. Excellent ambiance for a Louisiana po boy restaurant.
google avatar

Bobby G.

Yelp
I finally got to check this place out and it was really good! I had the surf & turf poboy and it was great! The bread was fresh, the beef & oysters were hot and the horseradish sauce was on point. My wife tried the banh banh shrimp and it was pretty good. Some of the shrimp was overcooked and rubbery, but others were cooked well. I think it was a mix of fresh and some that had been sitting in the warming tray too long. The hush puppies and butter were unreal! Overall I had a great experience and will definitely be back to try the hot hot chicken.
google avatar

Madison P.

Yelp
We liked everything about this place. It's in a repurposed old building. Easy to order. Food was amazing.
google avatar

Samantha N.

Yelp
This is hands down the best poboy place in town. I've been here three times and every poboy I tried has been excellent in taste. I have tried the red bean falafel, the hot hot chicken (beware it's really hot!), and the surf and turf. I loved the surf and turf the most because I enjoyed the gravy from the roast beef marinating with the fried oysters and horseradish sauce. I always appreciate that their customer service because it is fast and friendly. They even have free water on hand with the cute picture of pops on it! I will be back to try more!
google avatar

Janice J.

Yelp
I was driving through Lafayette on a road trip and got the red bean and falafel po-boy. I'm so happy they have a vegetarian option because I've been meaning to try this for a while. It's not traditional but it's very delicious. I got the 6 inch. It has two large falafels that are squished to fit the bread. There's some shredded lettuce and tomatoes and a little bit of red bean. The falafels aren't greasy and don't have a super crispy outside but they have a great brownish color and a lot of flavor. The bread has a chewy texture to it. It looks like a baguette but it's quitters different. Overall, it was great and the service was quick. Amazing place to grab a quick bite that will fill you up.
google avatar

Arline N.

Yelp
I am so glad to see this place made it through the pandemic! Every time I went to Lafayette I would have to make a stop for their delicious hot hot chicken po'boys. Now that business travel is back on I am ready to feed the craving for their out of the box delicious sandwiches. Also, their Mac and cheese is to die for.

Sarah B.

Yelp
Food was fantastic. Ambiance was fun! All of the flavors- delicious! Can't wait to get back to Lafayette!
google avatar

Yelp
The Cuban Castro, Cayenne Taziki sauce, Cane Butter, Fried Pickled Okra, and the Hush Puppies were the best things I put in my mouth in awhile. This isn't the usual poboy shop you find on the corner. This steps up the poboy game. Love the fresh sauces and flavors. Can't wait to come back and try a cocktail and a burger. I love pickled oakra but never had it fried, that was nice. Parking today was a hassle. The place is nice and great location. Everything was rustic and cozy, yet not dark and gloomy.
google avatar

Tricia G.

Yelp
Place has a good vibe and is conveniently located. Order taker was short to the point of rudeness, but it didn't seem to deter a constantly long line of patrons. We ordered fried okra to share and a poboy each. Mine was falafel, my son's was hamburger. It seemed to take a very long time for our food to come, with others who'd arrived after us receiving their food first. The okra was pickled before frying, which was unusual. I liked it but my son didn't. The poboys were ok, but not the best. I'd be willing to give this place another try on a day when I have more time to study the menu.
