Me and my husband had a very delightful experience at Poppies: serene and green garden with a charming pond, delicious indonesian food and smooth nostalgic vibes of what it was already 50 years ago. We were sitting in table just in front of the pond, very romantic. We ate the prawn boat, the famous tomato soup, the seafood kebab and the chicken sate: everything was very delicious. The carved coconut pina colada is a must try. We had such a nice dinner there that we decided to come back the day after with our friends. Unfortunately it was raining and making impossible to sit on the outdoor tables. We shared for 4 people the rijstaffel, it was very delicious and generous.

What a delightful find Poppies Restaurant was! Set amongst beautiful gardens and pond such a lovely quiet atmosphere away from the noise of the streets. Had been told to try the Pina Coladas which come in a mocktail choice and they were delicious. The Nasi Goreng was also very good. Definitely worth a visit. And they provide mosquito spray too.

We have returned to Bali after 30 years to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. The restaurant does not seem to have changed one bit. Idilic garden setting with the best satay sauce in all of Bali IMHO. The Tom Yum Gai and the Lumpia are super tasty. Highly recommended. And only 6 hour flight from Melbourne for a dinner and weekend stay.👍

We had dinner at Poppies Restaurant on our first night in Bali. Tucked away from the busy street, the restaurant offers a peaceful and charming atmosphere, a perfect escape from the hustle outside. The menu features a good mix of both Western and local dishes. It’s a great spot to ease into Balinese cuisine while still having familiar options available. A lovely place to start your culinary adventure in Bali.

I absolutely loved this little spot and would totally recommend it! It's such a lovely, relaxing place right in the middle of busy street. The local Balinese food is cooked really well and looks super fancy on the plate. Plus, they've got happy hour cocktails and snacks! The staff are really nice too. PS - the pork satay was a tad chewy, but still tasted really good! Recommend you try everything that we ordered especially the tomato soup!

A very nice restaurant set in a beautiful Balinese garden setting. They have a great menu which is reasonably priced. The meals were very good and will definitely be adding this restaurant to our favourites list.

Love coming to Poppies. My family has been eating here since I was little. Beautiful garden atmosphere. Service was kind and brought us mosquito spray and took pictures for us. The food was delicious. We had the Nasi Goreng and satay chicken. Recommend the crème brûlée for dessert, big serving and for a great price!

We had a reservation for three people at 7:00 pm a week ago. The atmosphere was beautiful, but unfortunately that was the only positive part of our experience. Service: Despite having a reservation, we were seated in crowded area where several tables were placed very close together. I politely asked multiple times if we could move to a more private table surrounded by greenery, as shown in many photos and reviews, but the staff repeatedly refused, saying all tables were the same — which clearly was not true. The table was very dark, and a staff member proactively offered to bring us a light. After seeing the elegant lamps placed on nearby tables, we agreed. Unfortunately, the lamp we received looked like a desk lamp, appeared dirty, and was completely out of place for the atmosphere. We declined it and continued our meal. One staff member was particularly unprofessional. While we still had wine, beer, and food on the table, and were in the middle of a family conversation (we hadn’t seen each other in a year), the staff member abruptly came to our table at around 8:00 pm — just one hour after arrival — and asked if she could clear the table, without any excuse or polite gesture. This interrupted my mother mid-sentence and completely ruined the moment. Staff training is seriously needed. Food: We ordered the signature Rice Table for three people. The price was IDR 380k plus an additional 195k, totaling IDR 575k. After reading other reviews later, we realized the extra charge only added one skewer each of fish, chicken, and beef satay. Two of the nine side dishes were the same (beef rendang), which was disappointing given the price. The only enjoyable items were the fish in the soup and the sambal. All other meats — beef rendang, shredded chicken, chicken satay, and beef satay — were extremely tough and dry. The beef rendang, in particular, felt like beef jerky. Overall, the food quality was worse than a small local warung, which was shocking considering the price and reputation. We spent around IDR 1,500,000 on wine, beer, and food, and it was honestly the most disappointing dining experience I've ever had. I had attached photos screen shot from my action cam recorded, however this review wasnt be up loaded with photos, so i had to deleted. If you are part of the restaurant team and genuinely interested in improving, I am happy to share the photos via email. Such a beautiful venue deserves far better service and food quality.
