Left after 1 night of a 3-night stay — no refund, just mould.
We booked three nights at Poppies and barely made it through one. The room was so mouldy it felt like we were sleeping inside a damp sponge. The smell hit us like a wall — not exactly the tropical aroma we were hoping for.
When I called the staff to politely ask for help, they responded by hanging up on me. Not once, not twice, just straight to dial tone. Very efficient customer service — if you’re trying to get rid of guests.
We checked out the next morning, desperate for clean air and basic human decency. Sadly, no refund was offered, just a lingering cough and a story to tell.
If you’re a fan of mould, poor service, and paying for nights you won’t stay, this place is a winner. Otherwise, there are plenty of better (and drier) places to stay in Sri Lanka.
