Great place to dine in — the food is tasty and the service is a solid 10/10. One suggestion: it would be helpful if the menu or staff were more specific about which dishes are spicy or heavily seasoned, to better guide guests’ choices. That said, I definitely recommend trying the burrito — it’s a must!

Met Hannah on our first night in town and she made us feel like we were regulars! Great service from Italia too. Every time we went we tried something different, and the staff were awesome, nice draft beer selection… prices are phenomenal… tortillas(flour and corn) made on the spot for your order. Poppo’s should not be missed when visiting AMI!

They have great food. It's self-service I had the bowls. If you have food allergies just let them know so they can help you out. We went there 2 times for dinner. Also the mango green tea is very refreshing and not too sweet. So I forgot to take pictures.

For a quick bit, it's not bad, very limited menu and seating. The food was good for me but two of my companions said it was too spice after being told it was not spicy. Not what I would consider Mexican food.

This place is amazing! Their staff is super friendly & quick at making your order! Homemade chips right out of the fryer.. yum!!🤤 They have indoor seating and outdoor but tables definitely available when we went!

Poppo’s is a small but peaceful corner of the island where you can actually get a wonderful tasting taco/quesadilla meal for an afternoon or dinner. Shana is a whisperer when it comes to flavors and the staff knows very well how to integrate their ingredients into something that works and refreshes you. Honestly I’m surprised this business model isn’t applied elsewhere with this level of attention and respect. I built my own taco and the options were quaint and delicious. Thank you Shana for the recommendations and thank you to Poppo’s crew for a respectable and admirable quality of service.

Sometimes after a long day in the sun all you need is a fast and fresh dinner and Poppo's Taqueria was the perfect place to dine at after a beach day. The fast casual restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, as well as parking in front of the building, which is a nice perk because it can sometimes be hard to find parking on AMI. I ordered a build your own burrito and loved that there was a variety of fresh ingredients to choose from. I packed my burrito with all the good stuff-freshly grilled chicken, rice, beans, pico de gallo, lettuce, and cheese. Pro tip: order a side of chips and guac for the whole Poppo's Taqueira experience. The service was excellent and my chips were brought out to my table after just being freshly made (yes, they were still warm!). Definitely consider trying this spot on your next trip to AMI. It's also close to a lot of cute island boutiques, so be sure to check those out too!

Authentic delicious tacos! These were spicy in the best way possible!! Grabbed it for pick up and was still fresh when we ate it.

Great hole in the wall taco spot to fill a mexican food craving if you're ever on vacation at Anna Maria. Definitely not designed to be a dine in restaurant but there are a few spots to pop a squat if you're trying to get out of the heat. The food here is some of the best, authentic style tacos & burritos i've been able to find in the southeast. It's not super greasy & heavy, which lends itself to the place using quality ingredients & cooking their food fresh on the grill. We more or less tried the entire menu on our week long stay, returning several times. My favorite taco was the Poppo's Taco. The Honey Lime Cabbage & the feta were a match made in heaven. Also enjoyed their twist on a quesadilla with Ed's Way. It looks more like a taco than a quesadilla but it was crispy & delicious. If we ever return to the island this will be my first stop for a meal!

This was the only restaurant in the area without a line out the door when we arrived on a Saturday night, though the line inside was still fairly long. The girl behind the counter didn't greet us and simply asked what we wanted. I understand this is more of a grab-and-go kind of place, but a bit more friendliness would've been nice. The setup is similar to Chipotle, with a variety of pre-set options to choose from. The tacos are made fresh on the grill after you order, which is a nice touch, and they looked great. I enjoyed the tacos we got--they were quick, easy, and tasty.

Hand pressed fresh tortilla - yes please. This place gets busy. But it's worth the wait. The tacos are full of flavor and delicious. I had the Poppos Tacos and the Dutch Fox. Both were delightful. The Dutch Fox were my favorite w the carnitas and pineapple hot sauce and feta. So good. Definitely hit this place up at least once while on the island.

After being overwhelmed with options, Hannah helped me choose the best quesadilla I have ever eaten and I am forever convinced that feta and pickled cabbage belong on everything! SO good!

The carnitas double meat double bowl is the way to go! And order chips and guacamole. Our favorite go to every time we are on the island.

We were driving along when we looked over and saw Poppo's. We knew instantly that this is where we were going to have dinner after a long beach day. The inside and outside gives off a very fun costal vibe. You're just happy to be in there. You have the option to make your own bowl, burrito, quesadillas, or tacos. I got a bowl and it was delicious. Their spicy pineapple sauce was amazing I totally recommend it with anything you order from here. The service was great everyone was so sweet and cheerful. I can't wait to come here again

Unexpected and very close to authentic Mexican food. Brought the family and we all absolutely loved it. Small portions so order enough to satisfy your appetite.

Awesome spot to grab some tacos, burritos, etc! There is some indoor and outdoor seating or you can take it to go like we did. We each got a baby burrito which is about 3/4 the size of a regular burrito and was just perfect. Delicious and not overly filling. We split a taco too. Everything was delicious and made quickly. Would definitely come back and recommend to others!

Every year I come back for some of the BEST tacos and burritos! Poppo's Taqueria never lets me down. The dough is freshly made, soft, and flavorful for a tortilla. You could eat them alone. I had the carnitas and chicken this time. I'll have to make a daily run to this gem of a restaurant. Poppo's is an all-time favorite!

Quick line to wait in. Maybe took us 10 minutes tops for dinner. Staff is very kind, fast, and efficient! My boyfriend and I each custom ordered our burritos and had some jarritos (so happy to have found our favorite flavors). Some indoor and outdoor seating was available, but there isn't much if they get busy. The salsa and chips were great along with our jarritos! I had the carne asada custom burrito with brown rice, honey-lime cabbage, avocado, pickled onions, pico de gallo, and cilantro. Very happy with my burrito although it wasn't a full Mexican burrito. The pico de gallo was delicious! Honestly one of my favorite parts.

Delicious food, efficient service, friendly staff. Located on a charming street full of stores and sights, with Tampa Bay on one end and the Gulf of Mexico on the other.

Its a great place I just wish they were consistent. The girls running the place on 12/19 just did not care how they made our order. The quesadilla was the size of a taco and way under cooked too small to be a meal for dinner. The girl making my Burrito actually took meat off my burrito to put back in the tub. Not sure why she hardly put any on and it closing time. Been coming here since it opened and I a local person . I cant understand why every time its different? I would eat here more often if they were more consistent but at times its easier to drive off the island and go to any other taco stand than be aggravated when you get home to see how they did it this time

Wow!! This was an unexpected but delicious surprise for lunch. My mom and I came here and ordered our own side of chips and salsa and split a large pork carnitas bowl and we were blown away. Everything tastes fresh and full of flavor. The chips were piping hot, just the way we like them. The salsa was very fresh tasting and the carnitas bowl had so much flavor. We were hungry and this place certainly settled our cravings! The guacamole was a shining star, in fact the verde salsa was also pretty delightful as well. Highly recommend coming here for a nice bite to eat, especially if you're in the mood for fresh Mexican flavors. I like that they have so many options to include in your bowl, such as pickled cabbage and pickled red onion- yum!

The worker making my bowl was very kind and friendly, and so was the cashier. No complaints! Ambiance: Since I was on Anna Maria Island, pretty much every restaurant had a fantastic atmosphere. Poppo's was no exception! Their interior was that of a nice fast-casual restaurant such as chipotle, with a great outdoor seating area as well! Again, think chipotle.

Pulled up in front of this joint about 7:00 PM on Sunday the line was out the door, the porch was filled with people chowing down, that's what a long day at the beach will do for ya. The line moved slow since everything is made in front of you, you know the protocol like other have stated it's modeled after Moe's or Chipotle in that way but that's where the similarities stop this food is amazing. We ordered two tacos which is a serving of four tacos all on fresh made corn tortillas with carne asada and a big bowl with carne asada with white rice and pinto beans as well, a soda, a bottle of water and a Corona, with a tip it came to about sixty bucks. The staff was friendly and accommodating, they seemed about as beat as the beach goers that continuously poured through the door but they still worked efficiently and everything we ordered was perfectly executed. This is definitely a no frills taco shop but the quality of the products was evident after the first bite - the flavors are complexity and creative thanks to the incredibly fresh condiments and I absolutely loved the minced jalapeño salsa. I could eat here a few times a week no problem...

We just stopped in before dinner to try the chips, salsa and guacamole. We also tried a few local craft beers. The chips are made to order and are so worth the wait. Best chips ever and they are hot and crunchy.

This place was recommended to me by a friend and it did not disappoint. Ordered for delivery on DoorDash and it worked out great. We ordered 3 diy burritos and it did not disappoint. My father ordered a bowl, we all ordered carnitas and it was delicious for me. My dad isn't a big fan of spicy food, but even he said it was delicious just wasn't a fan of the spice level.

I really enjoyed my visit to this unique restaurant on beautiful Anna Maria Island. The location is convenient, the restaurant is nicely decorated inside and out, the staff are very friendly, patient, and efficient, the food is absolutely delicious and reasonably priced, and the dining room is adequate and clean.

We had a house in Mexico for a decade and this food is literally just as good! And even for the newer generation that loves Qdoba and the other fake Mexican places, my children love this place and eat there every day when we're down. So you get the best of both worlds!

Stopped by for lunch after a hot morning on the beach. My wife got the carnitas bowl and I had the spicy steak burrito. The food was delicious and fresh. It's set up like a chipotle so we did not have table service but the guys working were helpful and explained things to us. We sat outside while eating and even the music was enjoyable. We both highly recommend this place. We will be back a few more times.

Me and my wife were there the other day. We got in late after our flight was delayed and found this place "Poppo's Taqueria" as one of the only places open. My wife and I order tacos, they were ok nothing special but then we return to our rental and not even 1 hour later me and Mariana are not feeling the best and have some issues in the bathroom, the food had not agreed with us... This place was not a good welcome to our vacation. - Bob

We sampled Poppo's in Anna Maria on our family vacation and it did not disappoint. Everything we ordered tasted superb. The staff were really nice and patient with us as we inspected the menu. This is definitely a take and go place, but the tables outside provide a nice opportunity to people watch on Pine Ave. If you visit Anna Maria Island, you MUST make this one of your stops.

We ordered two burritos from here today and they were very flavorful. I did a build your own burrito with tempeh and my husband got a chicken one. They were a good size. Quick and friendly service.

We have been visiting AMI for many years and Poppo's is always a staple! We love going and often go multiple times on a trip! An easy meal for our big family and the service is great! Will be back!

I always make sure to come here whenever I'm in town. Their food is so good and so fresh! It's also totally worth the price! The workers here are also very friendly. If you come to Poppos you won't be disappointed

Ordered takeout for quesadillas, burritos, and chips and salsa. They forgot the chips and salsa as I discovered when I got home. I went back with my receipt to ask for the chips and salsa. What I got was a bag of 20 chips which I was told was the store policy. My problem was not with the chips but I was charged $9.75 for the chips. Seems a bit pricy at nearly $.50 per chip. After being handed the small bag I asked to confirm that I was getting 20 chips for $9.75. I was told, "Yes, that is the policy". So, food was fine, pricing for chips and salsa was not.

If there are any bad reviews, it's from a Karen if you know what I mean. This place is amazing. It's the only place we came back to a second time for lunch on our trip. They make the tortillas and chips fresh and in front of you! Yum!

Pretty good tacos and a vegan protein available too for plant-eaters. We had carne asada and chicken tacos on corn tortillas. Maybe because the chicken tacos were more saucy, the tortillas fell apart immediately. They should be double-up. But my carne asada stayed intact. There's also a few beers on draft as well as canned drinks. Everything tasted fresh and delicious! But I think we could've eaten 3 tacos by twos (so we should've got 3 orders of two tacos).

Great tacos on the island. Not a ton of meat options, but still a great option for lunch or dinner. The shells are nice and light, and fresh made to order. Chicken, pork or steak for meat options. Fun toppings. They use mozzarella or feta for cheese, which seemed a little odd, wasn't my favorite, but different. Enjoy the chicken taco the most. The chips are thicker and fresh made. Would recommend trying them while you are on the island, fresh and different!

The service was quick, I had a chicken quesadilla and it was so good! The food was made right in front of me, everything looked fresh and I barely finished eating before I thought about going back!! Definitely worth a visit - 10/10
