Poppy's Cafe

It is always a pleasure to visit Poppy's when visiting the War Memorial. We enjoyed an Afghan spiced calamari salad! 😀 it was delicious and very well prepared. Also enjoyed an ice tea and a little coffee. It is great that you can sit inside, enjoying the warmth and pictures. Alternatively, enjoy the final days of the warm sun outside, looking over the War Memorial. Thank you to the chefs and staff, who continually make such high-quality food and provide great service! I look forward to the next visit 😀

Staff were extremely friendly, approachable, interactable & helpful. Staff always ensuring venue is clean - including amenities. Food & coffee were fantastic - especially the coffee. You could have a conversation and hear each other. Extremely worth a visit.

$6.50 for a dry scone with essentially a teaspoon of jam. I don't recommend that at all. There wasn't enough indoor seating for everyone when we attended and the staff couldn't clear the dirty tables quickly enough. If you want to attend a cafe at the war memorial, you don't have a choice as it's the only one. However, the memorial is an emotionally heavy place to attend and having a cafe to relax, gather your thoughts and slowly bring yourself back to reality was valued. Also on the plus side, the staff were friendly and the coffee was good.

Just a standard food canteen you would except food is semi reasonable at 20$ for the salad. Only wish there was more indoor seating and that the food actually had seasoning.

So delightful. I had conversation with one of the beautiful baristas, I think her name was Anna. She was so friendly to me and gave me some great recommendations to visit in Canberra. The coffee was delicious, not too hot but not cold. I will be coming back just for the coffee next time I am in Canberra. 10/10 to the barista!

You can laugh at me, it's fine - this is where i first see a long black and a short black coffee option in a drink selection. I didn't google but already made up my mind that this is similar to Americano or espresso (which i found out to be right). Coffee and pastry was great!

This café has really cool interiors and is surely worth dropping by if you’re visiting the War Memorial! I got a hot cappucino and this is the first café I’ve been to in Australia that had a box of marshmallows next to the sugar jar at the counter for customers to take with their beverage! 🤩

The barista needs training, one thing at a time. Do not go if you'd like a "quick" coffee! Need 3 times the staff. Someone in front of me cancelled their order because it took too long.

Oh man. The place. The chicken sandwich was so good that I am seriously considering getting another to take home and introduce to my wife. Just stunning. Staff was nice and the inside feels...cooler...than you might expect at a museum pub. Amazing. Love this place.

Nice little cafe next to the war memorial. Came in for the brekkie and coffee before heading into the AWM and all was great. Nice spot.
