"This eatery is one of Molle’s favorites. It’s got an excellent riverfront location in Estes Park and has an outdoor patio where you can enjoy one of their specialty pies or sandwiches paired with a Colorado-brewed beer." - Travel + Leisure Editors

We really enjoyed our lunch at Poppy's Pizza and Grill in Estes Park. We have been before and it was the same. The food was great but the restaurant was very busy. We would have loved to sit on the patio outside next to the river but at peak times during the summer, we were lucky just to get a table. We didn't have to wait long for a table (they told us 15 minutes but we were seated in 5). Service was good and the food came out fast. We ordered pizzas, a salad (which was huge), a burger and ice teas. We enjoyed it all. I would recommend Poppy's Pizza and Grill for families looking for lunch in Estes Park.

Google
Nice area with outdoor seating near a stream. The food was good. I had a personal pizza, and it was a decent meal, not top 10 but good. Service was busy so they were doing their best. The atmosphere was nice, I mean it's estes and there was a small river running next to the seating. I would say it's a good stop for a lunch while enjoying the town.

Google
On the Riverwalk in Estes Park Poppy's services speciality pizza along with burgers and other items. I had a straight pepperoni pizza that was doable (nothing special) but they had a specialty called the Straziante (akin to a meat lovers) that was fantastic. The individual size was a bit small but satisfying.

Google
Food was very mediocre. Pizza sauce was extremely plain like a frozen pizza. Our waiter had a lot of tables but did a good job checking in. Drinks were good. Overall the experience was just ok but not somewhere I would go again.

Google
I should’ve read through the reviews a little more before ordering. I’m basing my review on two plain cheese pizzas. I would swear the crust is premade and possibly frozen. Kinda like a spongy thick tombstone pizza. Very thick and spongy🤮 With pizza in the name of the restaurant we expected more. Highly recommend Antonio‘s Pizza down the road, sadly they were closed and we took a first chance on Poppy’s. Never again! One star!!! Note: left an additional star because of the wonderful pizza pick up host with the festive Xmas snoopy sweater 😀

Fabulous! My daughter had a scrumptious personal pizza with a side of asparagus fries and I had the salmon sliders with a side salad. I got extra Asian dressing to drizzle on my sliders. Excellent and unique wine list! 10 🌟 from us!

Google
2nd time here. Got individual pizza that was okay. Not bad, just a lot of dough. Crispy enough on bottom but kind of mushy all elsewhere. Good price for Estes. Great location. Sat outside and there was plenty of shade. Bike racks out front or park them next to your table.

Google
Decent Service. The pizza is a small step up from frozen. Decor is not inspired. I do not recommend.

Yelp
A very homey and cozy restaurant serving up comfort food. I had the soup and sandwich meal, which was half good. The vegan chili was outstanding. I would've ordered a whole bowl of it, if I knew how good it was. However, the sandwich was okay. The bread was what really threw it off. It was so hard I couldn't eat it, so I basically just ate the sandwich without the bread. The pizzas were great and really good sizes. Be aware that the speciality pizzas are a lot more expensive than the basic pizzas. Overall, a quaint restaurant with some good comfort food.

Yelp
Out of town visitor. Recommended by a friend who is very familiar with Estes Park and it was simply delicious! Everything we ordered was so good and the service was great! We will definitely come back the next time we're in town.

Laura P.

Yelp
Definitely come here for pizza, especially if you have people with different tastes. They offer 8" individual pizzas that can be customized in a ridiculous amount of ways, plus some really unusual specialty pizzas. The room is really cute - exposed brick walls and nice decor along with a nice patio by the Riverwalk, but we wanted air conditioning. We started with a seasonal Limoncello mule which was amazing- a mule with the addition of Limoncello and it was so refreshing after hiking all day. We ordered 2 individual pizzas- sausage and spinach for my boyfriend and bacon, onion and arugula for me. It took awhile for the pizza, but obviously they make them all to order, so it was fine. Got a second round of mules in the meantime but they did not at all taste like the first round. Our server said they were out of bitters, but it tasted much more like a traditional mule - maybe they forgot the Limoncello. The pizza was amazing. Crust was crispy and chewy, red sauce delicious, perfect amount of cheese and plentiful toppings. I will say also that I had one slice I had to take with and it was still delicious as breakfast the next day. If we make it back to Estes Park, this would be the first place I would remember to come back.

Yelp
It's gross and dirty. Food was ok because we were starving but we wished we would have spent our money elsewhere.

Tammy M.

Yelp
You order online and pick up your food without speaking to anyone. When I got to the restaurant our order was ready everything was great. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious.

Rj Z.

Yelp
Perfect spot for your pizza carving in the middle of winter. Staff is amazing. Atmosphere felt like an old school Big Cheese pizza joint. Just missing the video games from the 1980's.

Yelp
I've been coming to Estes Park for over 20 years. Food in a tourist town can be a rough experience. Poppy's is one of a handful of spots I've tried and feel willing to come back to. Today, we arrived shortly after opening (11am) on busy Memorial Day. We were seated right away and snagged a table on the terrace. The terrace is my preferred place to sit - the sounds of the river, the people/dog watching along the adjacent path, and the fresh breeze all add to the ambiance of the dining experience. Our server today was already busy managing all outdoor tables, and she was lovely, friendly, and efficient. I typically order a pizza and today my daughter and I split a small Mediterranean. You are allowed 1 substitution of topping so we switched out the artichoke (I love 'em but my daughter doesn't) for chicken. I forgot to ask for light cheese as the pizzas have a thick layer of cheese. Just something to keep in mind depending on your cheese preference. Toppings are tucked underneath the cheese layer. Our hiking plans had gone awry this morning so we ordered two tall glasses of lemonade to turn the proverbial phrase into reality! :-) Both the raspberry & regular were refreshing and tart. Poppy's is worth a visit while in Estes, especially if you love reoutdoor dining spaces.

Yelp
Man, I wish this place was near my house! Visiting from out of town and this is the exact kind of place you go to regularly, great pizza, great pasta, fun for the kids, relaxing environment, friendly staff. Thanks for a nice family lunch!

Noel J.

Yelp
This was our first time eating here was sat immediately. The place was super cute and our server was hostess was super nice! I love how the menu is not over whelming! They have pizza selection a burger selection and a sandwich selection! Not a million things to choose from. I don't like when there is so much cause then it makes it hard to choose. For my appetizer I got hummus w olives and pita bread which was really good. For my main food I got the chicken primavera pizza which had chicken, broccoli black olives fresh tomatoes and mozzarella and OMG IT WAS SOOOOO GOOD!! Over all server was perfect. Food was perfect. It was all perfect.

Rhiannon N.

Yelp
Best pizza we ever had! Service was on point! We didn't have to wait at all! We originally were on a 45 minute wait at Mama Roses next door but we had a hungry kiddo decided to check out poppy's. Great decision!! They even sat us in a booth by the window with the running creek! Absolutely beautiful!

Roger S.

Yelp
Valentine's dinner this evening with my sweetheart. Poppy's never fails to deliver. We were seated and waited on almost immediately. The Friday special was fish and chips. Two large fillets, a small lettuce selection, tartar sauce, all on a bed of home made chips. My partner in crime, my date had a small pepperoni pizza with green peppers. Both were served quickly and pipping hot. Oh and two take home boxes with our leftovers enclosed. We'll definitely be coming back. The outdoor patio riverside is beautiful later this Spring/Summer

Linda H.

Yelp
Service was slow and it was super noisy in there. Food was not that great and staff were arguing with each other. Not sure what that was about, but as a patron I didn't want to hear that.

Jane N.

Yelp
Pizza was very good. We tried the authentic queso dip, and it was excellent. Great service. Very good all around.

Stephanie W.

Yelp
Quick service, friendly, reasonable and consistent pricing. Whether you choose to sit inside or outdoors, it's lovely with a great beer selection

Kelly P.

Yelp
Great experience. The burger, pizza, cheese, curds, and kids grilled cheese were all great. Service was good. We would definitely return!

Heidi B.

Yelp
Great location downtown with riverside patio seating! The Caprese Salad was amazing and the pizza was awesome! Servers were friendly, attentive and didn't rush us.

Hatz L.

Yelp
Looking for a place for supper and Poopy's seemed to be the place (and our great granddaughter is named Poppy). I had a hankering for pizza and they offered a gluten free rice flour crust, not that cauliflower stuff. The host was fantastic. He was very personable and a joy to talk to. He made the place. Although we did not take them up on their Date Nite Tuesday special, but I can see why that is popular. The bloody Maria was refreshing, the pizza was great, and my wife had the Philly cheesesteak with onion rings. The desert, a brownie sundae (GF) was great. So glad the host talked us into this. A moist brownie. Oh wait, that is supposed to be a secret.

Jesse W.

Yelp
Nice place. Understaffed, but the waiters who were there did their best. I had the pizza with vegan cheese option and liked it.

Steven S.

Yelp
Tourist trap restaurant. Going in, this was understood. They offer burgers and pizza and the like. Everything is overpriced for the quality. The pizza is legitimately not good. I would rather have Domino's and I am saying that with full honesty. Service is hit or miss. Estes employs many foreign people for summer work. Sometimes this is great, sometimes this is a disaster. I wouldn't recommend this place (I've been 4-5 times.) There are many better options in Estes.

Amber B.

Yelp
Poppy's Pizza is a must-visit for us whenever we're in Estes Park. The service is consistently fantastic, and the food never disappoints. This time, we enjoyed their pizza along with the Sundance salad, which is possibly my favorite salad ever--perfectly balanced in flavor and ingredients. The pizza strikes a great balance too, being thin yet not too crunchy. A little pro tip: keep an eye on the menu as each additional topping on your pizza does cost extra, which my brother-in-law learned the hard way! Can't wait for our next visit.

Brennon O.

Yelp
Great greeting at entrance and good service from the busy & hard working young lady that welcomed us. The food was good, but the pricing vs. quantity was very disappointing. This all falls on me for not inquiring but rather assuming and this is why I'm writing this review.....to help others. A medium pizza here is almost about the size a pizza lover would expect. However, $30+ for this size is an injustice in our view. We truly believed the medium would be closer to a large, as we had heard the large was VERY A large. This was not enough for 3 men. The pizza did come quickly and was tasty, but at these prices, we should have received much more.

Chloe L.

Yelp
Decent pizza but very expensive for the sizes. Really pretty view and good service though

Hannah B.

Yelp
The food was amazing. Idk what the 1 star views are about. We got 3 pizzas; the green chili pizza, a cheese pizza with garlic and olive oil sauce and a chicken and basil pesto pizza. Every single one of them hit. 10/10 would come again if I ever come back to the area. Also, the river alongside the restaurant is beautiful and the service was also a 10/10. Waiter was Brandon C. :)

Derek B.

Yelp
Pizza was very expensive for its flavor. The salad was good but the pizza was really bad! The back patio was great, right along the river. Service was friendly but the 1-star is based on the taste of the food. The crust was very dry & tasted a little more like cardboard than crust. Topping were fine. Overall the has to be better options.

Gail B.

Yelp
Server was very friendly and checked in We both had burgers, the Swiss mushroom and the OGBurger. The patties were well seasoned and nice browned on outside but still juicy. Very tasty burger and just right size. Fries were crunchy outside, lightly seasoned. Enjoyed our lunch stop

Karla K. I.

Yelp
The location and outside sitting area were great and relaxing. The food (pizza/burger/onion rings/fries) was below the average.

Jeffrey M.

Yelp
The pizza here was delicious, but don't be fooled by the portion sizes listed. The pizzas are smaller than you would think. My son and I ordered one to share that was listed as meant for two people. It was really more of a personal pizza for one. Still, it tasted great. You can check it out at the 11:00 mark on our travel video below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_FY8QeABUA

Yelp
This review is a mix of experiences. We stopped in for a late lunch an Yelp is where we learned of the place. It's quaint, pretty and and sits by the a small creek. Our server was wonderful. Fast, polite and amazing. The food was absolutely fantastic. Especially the Vegas cheese burger. It was sooooo good. The bill was extremely reasonable for feeding four people. Here's the problem: We were so impressed that we wanted to make a reservation for ten four hours later. A small dinner party. The land dark haired woman working the desk acted offended we even asked to make a reservation. She coldly told us that it was "first come first serve". She was so blunt, cold and non conversational that she turned a wonderful meal into a place we won't return to. It's unfortunate that one person can change the entire feel and experience in such a negative way. The bathrooms need to be watched a tad closer. Paper towels everywhere.

Eric S.

Yelp
The blue cheese burger and chicken wrap that we get were great, got and very tasty. Service was excellent. We sat outside by the water and had many people and accompanying dogs to watch along with the river.

Lisa I.

Yelp
Margaritas were excellent as was the service & our view of the river! The house salad was fresh and delicious as well. The pizza toppings on the Poppy's Special were yummy but have to say the crust was a bit disappointing. The crust was more like a premade crust than a freshly made hand tossed original. All in all a decent experience - their other menu offerings of sandwiches, etc might be worth a try because it's always nice to eat alongside a river!

Will M.

Yelp
Dear Poppy's Pizza & Grill, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my disappointment with an order I recently placed from your establishment. Unfortunately, the pizza I received was undercooked and far from what I expected. The dough was soft and doughy in the center, making it difficult to eat, and the toppings did not seem fully cooked either. I understand that mistakes can happen, but given your restaurant's reputation, I was surprised by the quality of the pizza. I hope you can look into this issue and ensure that future orders meet a higher standard of preparation. The inside look nice I guess Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Jyothi S.

Yelp
This place is located in a prime location right across a creek and gives a stunning view. We came in for lunch on a Saturday and shared three dishes among 4 people: a medium Rustic Garlic pizza, fish sandwich w/ Sweet potato fries and a traditional wedge salad. With the pizza, the three dishes was plenty of food. The table favorite was the wedge salad - highly recommend! The service was quick and pleasant. Note: you'll have to find street parking and be prepared for a wait during busy season/meal times.

Lou M.

Yelp
Great meal. Simple and affordable in the heart of Estes Park Colorado. I got the Poppy special pizza personal size and it was very good. I enjoyed the crust too. Also had a side Caesar salad and it was good. Waited only 10 mins to get in and we enjoyed it. Also has a nice selection of alcohol and local brews which we tried. I'd go again for sure.

Denise N.

Yelp
Food, service, ambiance! We had cheese pizza with garlic and olive oil sauce, chicken basil pesto pizza, and the Chile verde pizza. Top quality ingredients & top notch service paired with the ambiance of the stream next to us? Great experience!

Charla H.

Yelp
Poppy's is a must for us when we visit Estes! We hadn't been for a few years and the changes made were positive. More room, more options (beer and food) while maintaining great tasting food and service! I think portion sizes increased as well! Server was amazing and took care of us throughout the evening. We had a view of the river which made it relaxing and perfect for date night. Definitely will be back!

Kim S.

Yelp
Poppy's pizzas are WONDERFUL! And the price is attractive. I order my grandson an individual pizza with his two choice toppings and it is cheaper than if I take him across the street to McDonalds! We go here as a family often when in town and we all love their pizzas! The individuals are perfect size for one person. We have also ordered larger on occasion and they are just as wonderful. I have also enjoyed soup and a few sandwiches, also very good. I also recommend the raspberry tea. They also have a great sitting area indoors and some outside tables that are right on the river. Highly recommend Poppy's when in Estes Park!

Kevin S.

Yelp
If I were to sum up our experience it would be "A Tale of Two Pizzas." On one hand, the toppings were good and the cheese seemed to be a good quality. But then there's the crust. Ah, the crust. If the toppings were Michelangelo, the crust was, well, Michelangelo's untalented third cousin twice removed. It had all the charm and texture of a frozen pizza's crust you'd find in the back of your freezer during a midnight snack emergency. It was as if the pizza chef, after meticulously crafting the toppings with love and care, took a nap and outsourced the crust to a budget-conscious food service vendor who decided, "Eh, close enough." So if you're someone who dreams of great toppings this is your haven. But if you're a crust connoisseur expecting the warm, doughy embrace of a freshly baked, raised crust, you might want to lower your expectations. Would I go back? Only if I'm in the mood for a trip down memory lane to my college days of subsisting on freezer pizza.

Jason S.

Yelp
Good service, nice location, but the pizza was meh. Tasted kinda like fresh topping on a Red Baron frozen pizza crust

Kelsey M.

Yelp
best pizza i have ever had. prices not too bad. the inside seating is very nice. doesn't really matter what you wear, nice outfit or hiking attire. the waiters are very nice and accommodating. would return for sure.

Nancy D.

Yelp
Came to Estes Park for the Elkfest. Stopped here for lunch. Had the small Poppy's special pizza which was very good and perfect for two hungry people. Service was great and they were well prepared with servers for all the visitors.

Emma C.

Yelp
Pizza was decent, service was horrible. Server lost our order, never checked on us and a very small pizza took 30+ minutes to come out. Would not recommend simply because of the lacking customer service.

Tatianna T.

Yelp
Unfortunately the worst pizza I have ever had. I got the chicken primavera pizza and it had no flavor at all. The "garlic sauce" base was actually just minced garlic. My boyfriend got the straziante pizza which was marginally better. The green chili fries were the only part of our meal that weren't bad, but the fries also did not have a great texture. We will not be back.

Claire F.

Yelp
Great service! Servers came around very often and always were nice! Beautiful view of river! Delicious and fast! Very good!

Stephen W.

Yelp
We went here for a late lunch. The outside seating was full so we were seated immediately inside. I started with a Mosiac IPA and it was excellent. Great flavor and not too hoppy. Wife had a Pilsner and liked it. The traditional wedge salad was one of the best I ever had. I really enjoyed it. My individual cheese pizza was average at best. Best thing was the hint of garlic in the sauce. Wife had a Caesar salad and liked it. Her Greek burger was very tasty but beef had a lot of gristle. Service was good, no complaints. I am giving it 4 stars on the strength of the beers, salads, and burger.

Benjamin M.

Yelp
The pizza was so bad the crust so unbelievably bad. Under cooked tasted like bread. We ordered a large pepperoni and sausage pizza for me my girlfriend and brother and in total we ate 3 slices. The toppings were good so may consider coming for the toppings and not eating the bottom of the pizza. Don't recommend keep walking I'm sorry if you spent your money on this place.

Ashley R.

Yelp
Poppy's pizza is good to grab a vegan pizza in an area otherwise kind of devoid of options. It says they use daiya but they somehow actually get it to melt and taste pretty good. None of the red sauces are vegan (Parmesan) but the oil and garlic sauce is awesome. They were out of vegan pepperoni so we didn't get to try that, but it would be a nice option. Good leftover too. Quick and kind service who helped us figure out the vegan options.

Caroline H.

Yelp
Cute little spot in Estes Park. I started with a Long Island iced tea and it was strong. My husband and I both got our own personal pizzas which were generous on the cheese. We both enjoyed ours. I also got a side salad and it was piled high with vegetables. The service was good. Would return.

Richard D.

Yelp
Staff were nice and attentive. Food that we had was average, but nothing I would send back. People watching was fun while sitting on the patio.

Jen H.

Yelp
Food was amazing! I'm kind of a pizza connoisseur, and the cheese is sooo good! Salad was great, my husband got a burger and fries which he said was amazing as well. Our server was great. We sat outside near the creek which was amazing as well. Was perfect after coming down from a full day on the mountains. Will definitely be back.
