Populus Coffee Roasters / Not a cafe

Super cute coffee shop right by Maybach Ufer. They have some outdoor but mostly indoor seating. Coffee was good and the lemon tart fantastic. The girls that worked that day were also super nice. Very cosy place. I could see myself coming here on a dark winter Sunday to cheer myself up a bit. They won’t let you work on your computer. So when you come here: just chill.

Lovely coffee house in Neukölln! Populus Coffee is a Berlin-based specialty coffee roastery with strong Nordic roots. Their forte is, of course, coffee. We stop by in a sunny day and enjoyed the nice canal view while sipping a good coffee. They have a wide selection of raw coffee beans from different countries. Cheese cakes and croissants are also available even though a little pricey, personal opinion. Worth stopping by for a coffee in case you are around.

Lovely cute place with good decaf lattes and tasty and interesting vegan sandwiches. Staff are really sweet and friendly, and it has a wonderful cosy vibe. The coffee is strong and the sandwich with the vegan cashew was super tasty.

They make a mean flat white. Has interesting pasteries and very nice cakes. Everything we tried was delicious. Banana cake, carrot cake, apple crumble, cinnamon roll, carrot cake & cheese cake(only available on the weekend). Sorry no photos of the cheese cake ):

Delicious specialty coffee. I can recommend their lemon poppy cake. Very nice atmosphere and always kind staff. I love their good taste in music :)

Good coffee and helpful staff. I ordered espresso macchiato which was rather mild in taste and well balanced – all in all, really worth the trip! The interior is with a hint of nostalgia, many places for sitting with a book perhaps borrowed from their own book shelf. They also have plenty of tables outside overlooking the canal which is really nice in good weather.

Cozy and lively coffee shop. The coffee was amazing, the staff was attentive and friendly, stylish decor and superb ambience. I enjoyed a whole morning string outside doing some reading and people watching.

Amazing coffee coming from a variety of regions and flavors. They have the best cinnamon bun in the area, and the lemon poppy seed cake is to die for. Both vegan as well! They have a few tables outside for summer or warmer days. Inside is supper cozy, perfect to sit with a book or have chat with friends.

Populus Coffee was the first stop on my solo European food and travel tour. Unfortunately, when I arrived to Berlin, I was not feeling well. I am usually obsessed with coffee and espresso drinks, even when I'm sick. However, maybe Europe inspired me because I ordered a lemon ginger tea instead. It was exactly what the doctor had ordered. To accompany the tea, I ordered a vegan cinnamon roll. The cinnamon roll was excellent. It was sweet, but not too sweet. Soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside, how a cinnamon roll should be. By my second visit to Populus Coffee I was feeling better. I ordered a cappuccino with oat milk and a lemon poppy seed loaf for breakfast. It was absolutely delightful! The cappuccino was strong, smoothe and frothy. The lemon poppy seed loaf was sweet, with a hint of tart. The thin layer of frosting on top brought everything together. The decor was modern and fun. They have outdoor seating, which is great for people watching and viewing of the canal. I didn't have any trouble ordering as the staff spoke English. No computers. They are strict about this so everyone is just on their phone. It's more peaceful than other places for a quiet business meeting

What a great a flat white!!! So many coffee shops I frequent don't know how to make a good flat white, but Populus knows what's up!

I've been making the rounds of all the good, third wave cafe style coffee shops in Berlin. Populus is my favorite - the decor is beautiful, I love the "Finnish roastery" thing (which may explain the gorgeous decor), their packaging is also beautiful and... and the coffee is delicious. This is only place I don't ponder asking for another shot in my latte, their coffee packs a punch! The staff is super nice. I walked out and completely forgot to pay one day (I'm not used to this "pay after" thing all over!) but went back the next day to pay and get more coffee. The barista was really sweet about it. My ONLY minor issue is that all pastries are vegan but honestly, no biggie. The overnight oats are delicious and filling. I always take beans home with me when I travel - there are several that I'm having a hard time deciding between, but Populus is not one of them - I am DEFINITELY getting some here.

The coffee is just OK. The service is bad. I went on a Sunday when the weather was good, so I don't know why the people at the counter were so gloomy. The guy who took my order would not even smile. There are places with better coffee and better people in the area.

The coffee is good and the atmosphere is nice! I really liked the interior. The plants and books at the window made it feel like it was my home so I was able to stay there and actually get some work done. :) I will come back frequently.

Decent coffee shop. Good bakery items. Nice atmosphere. Not the most comfortable shop as the chairs are typical hard wood classroom type chairs. Overall, it's a positive experience. Just not built for comfort/relaxing.

Wonderful little place. Great ambiance. Friendly staff and very tasty coffee with dessert. Free WiFi and not crowded. Liked it very much !

The interior is really nice, it invites to work but also to chill. The coffee is good. The reason why this is not a 5-star-review is because the roasted coffee is too expensive. With about 5 Euros more per 250g in comparison to equal or even better quality coffees (with similar background (sustainability, fair payment of farmers etc) they are way too expensive. An alternative to buy good coffee is the Kiez Rösterei located in the Gneisenaustrasse near Südstern. Recommended!
