Por Qué No Café in Antigua is one of the most charming places you can dine at. It’s a small, local business with incredible, heartfelt service that immediately makes you feel welcome. The menu is diverse enough that everyone can find something they’ll enjoy. My favorites are the chicken in white wine—the sauce is absolutely delicious—and the Caprese salad, which is incredibly fresh. The sangria is also very good and pairs perfectly with the food. Be sure to make a reservation, as they only have a few tables. The owners are very hands-on and exceptionally attentive, which adds to the overall experience. A perfect spot for date night—cozy, intimate, and full of charm.

Incredible Food! We loved this little spot. We ate at this spot every night we were in Antigua. The food is unmatched. We loved the Sangria. It is cozy, the atmosphere is great & we had fun writing on the walls. Loved the aesthetic. The pizza is amazing tastes like sourdough & crispy. The steak was by far our favorite, huge portion for very inexpensive. They’re only open for dinner & they fill up fast so I recommend getting a reservation or arriving before they open. So much fun. Came to Porque No after a friend recommended it, and I’m really glad we did. We were lucky to get a table, as the restaurant is very small — around 5 tables on the upper floor and only 2 on the main floor — but it’s absolutely worth it. 🌟 What we ordered We ordered the aubergine dish and the prawns with tomato sauce. 🍽️ Food quality The food was really, really good. Great flavors and very well executed. 💰 Price We paid 253 GTQ for two dishes, one flor de Jamaica drink, and one local beer — very reasonable for the quality. 👥 Atmosphere & service The vibe is cool and intimate. The upper floor is accessed via steep stairs, as the building used to be an old stable, so you need to be reasonably fit to go upstairs. Service was excellent from start to finish. The waiter was super nice and gave us great recommendations. 🌍 Practical info • Menu available in English and Spanish • Card payments accepted • Very small space — highly recommended to book in advance • Many tables were reserved when we arrived, and the staff was very transparent, letting us know we could only keep the table for one hour before the next reservation. We got the dine upstairs! The stairs are steep and narrow, they have a rope for you to grab on to while you climb up. You would have never guessed there was an upstairs from the outside of the restaurant. We got the steak and the chabanero shrimp as well as the eggplants (that we ordered as an appetizer). They split the eggplant in half and played them separately so we could have our own plates! The steak was cooked well given that it was a really thick cut and the shrimp tasted good but a bit too creamy for us (would have been nice to have some rice or tortillas on the side). Also ordered a sangria! Loved it. Overall very good value coming from the states. Excellent service, plating, and atmosphere.

WOWOWOW!! This place was recommended on Google and by our hostess here and Antigua, and honestly it is one of my top 5% dining experiences ever. This restaurant is TINY (it fits about 20 diners total on two tiny floors, and you need a rope and the assistance of a mountain goat to climb the steep stairs to the 2nd floor). The food is top-notch; uber fresh, organic and local, and prepared meal by meal by the restaurant owner in the tiny but squeaky clean and well organized kitchen. Pretty much every patron has written a little something on the walls and every other surface in the place with a sharpy. The main hostess/waitress just happens to be the owner/chefs wife and was uber friendly along with the other waitress. It is just a little outside the main tourist area but still close and very safe for walking even at night. I can't recommend enough.

Highly recommend! The ambiance is very unique, the place is tiny but somehow they seat everyone. The menu is small, but has options for everyone. The waitresses were fantastic and very sweet. We ordered the caprese salad, spicy shrimp and beef dishes, with a liter of sangria and dessert. It was all fantastic and very affordable, only $60USD! Definitely a unique experience you have to try!

If you’re in Antigua you must visit Por QuéNo? Cafe! It checks all the boxes! The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We left nothing on our plates! We even ate the leaves and the flowers. The space is very small, cute, and quirky. I’d recommend you make reservations. The service was incredibly friendly and attentive. They have a couple vegan options. I loved the music…old jazz and blues. An interesting touch is writing something on the table or the wall before you leave.

This place was recommended by several people unfortunately it was a flop for us, especially because of the service. The staff is indeed charming nevertheless we were put to the bar to wait until a table get free and just watch new clients being prioritized for table. A bit frustrating. But what’s took away a lot of the pleasure was waiting 45 minutes for the food to be ready . We were only 2 persons the bar tender was apologizing for the delay, the food was absolutely delicious but not worth the bad experience. The place is so tiny other clients were bumping into us on their way to the bathroom. Cool decoration and writing on the wall concept just very uncomfortable experience for me. I think the main issue was having a table because the bar is not ergonomic for dining. I just left with an overall feeling of discomfort and feeling left out as a client.
