15 Best Coffee Shops in Sydney | Condé Nast Traveler

"Delightfully distressed walls, peeling green paint, and industrial tiles create a romantic, shabby-chic atmosphere at this intimate two-room café in North Bondi. The Sydney-roasted Will & Co coffee delivers a smooth taste, as do chai and turmeric lattes and the Bees Knees tea (10 percent of profits support sustainable bee projects). Botanica juices, smoothies, and booze also tempt: Choose from local organic wines, tinned craft cider and beer, and cocktails like the Porch Mimosa (prosecco and cold-pressed watermelon juice)." - Sophie Davies

Google
Porch and Parlour do service and hospitality well. It was a very cold and wet winter's day where staying in was so tempting but the team here made our visit not just tasty but fun! I feel that they are insightful and in tune to the needs and wants of their customers and are proactive about this. The cafe is not big and has both an indoor and outdoor seating area. There was a steady stream of customers yet the staff happily (and patiently!) let me occupy a table while I waited for my friend. They asked if there was anything they could get me but were being caring and not pushy about this. I ordered the breakfast burrito. It was well made with a good serve of fluffy egg. I saw other people order the Mediterranean breakfast bowl and that looked delicious. Pancakes too! The serving size and prices go well together. It was a pleasure to have been hosted by Porch and Parlour!

Visited on a cloudy and chilly day and enjoyed a comforting bowl of porridge. It was totally delicious and exceeded my expectations as I sometimes find myself disappointed when I get porridge out. My partner got the Middle Eastern bowl with added chicken which was very good. Staff were friendly and the service was great.

A great little cafe across the road from Bondi beach. Quality food and coffee and really friendly service.

Google
I love Porch. The coffee is great and Louise the owner is a breath of fresh air. I have tried a couple things on their menu. The oat porridge is a feast and my friend and I ate our entire large serving and we could have had more. I am obsessed with the vegan wraps. With grilled tofu and beans. Not being a vegan it’s quite something for me to try. Porch used to be open to us locals from 6:30am daily but someone complained about the early opening time and has ruined the morning routines of so many. It’s an intimate and real friendly spot facing bondi beach. 🏖️

We went for brunch, coffee was very good. We ordered Peas pancake, also very good, and the Mediterranean breakfast bowl, which was a bit of let down. There was something missing, it didn’t feel it was enough food. Plate was half empty.

Google
Had our table taken off us mid meal so some Bondi influencer could enjoy their coffee. Next time put a reservation sign up before being so rude. Replying to store owner: happy to post the receipt, if that confirms the cafe? Feel free to train your staff next time.

Google
Solid 9/10. I have been here two times while in Sydney and I strongly recommend those who wish to enjoy very nice food/brunch in Bondi. Few tourists, lots of locals, you know why. Lovely and very friendly service. Make sure to try their ricotta pancakes, you won’t be disappointed! Prices are a bit above the average in Bondi but the quality is very good.

Google
I like the food and coffee very much, and the “chill” atmosphere (especially in windy days, no offence 😃) And also it’s really convenient to grab something to eat, esp for those who just finish their trainings at the outdoor gym 😀 Bring a laptop to work for a while is very nice 👍

Yelp
Great cafe in North Bondi. All the healthy eats and drinks - def DO. And directly across the street from the beach, showers and loos. Get: pea pancakes, green drink and turmeric latte. Kind service and excellent ambiance.

Yelp
Met a few friends here for a sunny winters lunch. I've been here a number of times and always love coming when I'm in Bondi. The service is always typical Bondi laid back style that I love. If you can snag a spot in the front or the window seat then do it. Fresh sea breeze coming in and views to the water for days. Porch always offers some awesome healthy options as well as some great heavier options. Coffee was on point as usual. This time around I ventured outside of the green bowl for the pumpkin pappardelle pasta. Delicious vego option with lots of pumpkin, tomatoes, spinach and pesto + almonds for some crunch. One of my dining partners had the one handed which looked great - perfect for a hungover breakfast/day. Love you Porch and will always be back to visit when I'm in town

Yelp
The smash n hash was absolutely delicious!! It has a potato rosti, porched egg, hollandaise, yucatan onion, house relish, sauteed greens with either bacon, salmon or haloumi (yes I copy and pasted from the menu because it's a lot to type). Every piece was delicious - loved the relish, greens, onion, egg/potato and I got it with the halloumi which was delicious. The service was also great - had a tall, lumberjack of guy with long curly blonde hair - he was terrific !

Yelp
Stopped by for a latte and breakfast. The Aussies know coffee and this place is no exception. I had the hash and smash with salmon. Absolute perfection!!! This cafe pushes all the buttons for me. Amazing attentive servers, amazing view/location, super cool vibe.

Yelp
right on the corner of Ramsgate Ave, Bondi beach Breakfast options are typical Bondi healthy stuff like green pea pancakes, a green brekkie bowl (kale, Quionoa, avo), mushroom dishes, granola, poached eggs etc. They do have a more indulgent dish of French toast which looks beautiful When I go to cafes, I'm a bit of a sucker for the granola option, even in the cold. So, I got the granola again which I wasn't quite sure about, as it was gluten free. It came out super fast, faster than my coffee in. That's good service! It had coconut yoghurt, blueberries and strawberries. To be honest, not a huge fan of this granola, but that's probably more my tastes than the dish itself. I'm not used Gluten free. I did like the yoghurt. Coffee was nice. You can also get juices, smoothies and booze. looks like some good lunch options, salads (roast pumpkin or raw), steak sandwich, fish burgers, barramundi or soup. There's also a laksa on offer. There are cronuts, croissants and takeaway coffees. Great location and seems like a popular place.

Yelp
I've been a couple of times since it reopened in 2015 - and used to love this quirky & charming spot. It unfortunately lost its character and soul in the refurbishment process. The atmosphere, the set up, the service and the food are not bad - but soulless (and expensive). For some reasons, it is still trendy - so expect a long queue for brunch.

Yelp
Eat here eat here eat here. It will be the best food you've ever had. Came for breakfast and got the hash and the French toast. Came back for lunch and got the green pea pancake and the braised beef gnocchi. All 4 dishes were mind blowing. The staff is great and you can't beat the view looking out at the ocean. I'll be dreaming of this food for a long time.

Yelp
Great location with a nice funky vibe. Excellent choice of food for breaks. Waiters efficient and friendly. Great feel !

Yelp
The friendly people behind Porch and Parlour have relocated. And while I would love to whinge about how much further away they are now (350 meters instead of 250 meters... an entire football field further!), they've dropped the parlour and added three of my very favourite things: opening hours, a full kitchen and booze. Now open from crack o' dawn to 10pm daily, I'm able to get Bondi's best coffee and green juice anytime during the day - I no longer have to rush out of my house in PJs, I mean, business suits, at 2:55pm and be that annoying customer who walks in just as you've cleaned everything up before closing. The food was already fantastic, so I can only assume with the same menu, employees and suppliers it will continue to be just that. And now you'll be able to enjoy dinner items as well, which I can't wait to try out. The move has not affected the coffee - I've done the grueling research and I still rate it as Bondi's best. My only concern? That my small neighbourhood coffee shop and brunch spot will be discovered by all and finding a seat will be harder than ever (although that was true pre-150 extra meters...).

Yelp
Such a cute breakfast spot with amazing food and coffee! Overlooks the ocean and such a local vibe. Would highly recommend!

Yelp
Came in for breakfast around 10am and the place was packed. Its a tiny place so there was 1 table free inside which we nabbed! You can sit at the bar/counter if there are no tables free. This place also has outdoor tables as well. Coffee was top notch. I got a green smoothie with some poached eggs on toast and my other party got the Devils breakfast - beans, chorizo with boiled eggs in a pan - hot and spicy! They serve their coffee in take away cups which at first glance looks like paper cups but then huzzah they are ceramic! Staff are friendly and happy to help you work out the menu (I questioned the green pea pancake and yes it is made out of mashed peas - who knew this could be a breakfast item) Overall, great first time experience and also love the fact you can walk over to the beach for a nice morning stroll after your breaky.

Yelp
I'll forgive the newly obstructed view of Bondi Beach for the unbelievably velvety long black I kick started my day with at Porch. The team behind this café-come-wine bar earn themselves additional brownie points for the veggie breakfast with the most perplexingly delectable gluten free bread I've had the pleasure of eating and the dukkah covered poached eggs. And I only managed to try a sip of their "magic juice" (I'm told beetroot features heavily) but in that one sip I understood why it's magic. Don't ask, just drink. Sure, my hipster sensibilities were in overdrive thanks to exposed brick walls, 70s inspired accent tiles and random framed art works around the place. Forget all that you think a Bondi cafe would be and pop in to Porch.

Yelp
Absolutely adorable place, great attitude among the staff and the food is terrific. Perfect perch and you can see Bondi beach. I would love to say I will return, but I'm from the states, so that won't happen. However, if I could, I would. And you should.

Yelp
Had the hash n eggs and loved it. The place is bustling on a Sunday morning so be prepared to wait. The eggs were perfectly poached. The greens were very well seasoned! The side of bread we got was just okay. My friend got the veggie salad and was very satisfied. Would def come again!

Yelp
Excellent coffee. Excellent food. Excellent green juice. And they are nice. And you can see glimpses of the ocean if you sit outside. Perfect.

Yelp
Friendly place with a view of the beach and above-average breakfast choices. We had a green breakfast bowl and delicious soft-boiled eggs. They put a lot of care into the food, and the coffee is excellent. Definitely above average for the area.

Yelp
The food was top notch, but the service lacked in class and understanding. I changed my mind once during my order, and the lady, which seemed like she may have been the owner, got visibly annoyed, then confused, and overcharged me for the item I didn't order. That said, the food and was spectacular.

Yelp
Stayed in Bondi for a week and we came back here three times! Everything was fresh and well seasoned. Amazing avocado toast on quinoa gluten free bread was a favorite. We are a huge fan of Sophie. We felt like regulars after the first visit.

Yelp
I had seen and heard great things about Porch - mostly photos of the delicious breakfasts on Instagram - so was eager to finally try it out, but was sadly pretty disappointed. Getting seated was hard work - for a table for three, we waited for 20 minutes trying to get the attention of waitstaff so they could direct us to a table/put our name down/tell us where to wait/anything really. After we were acknowledged, we were seated in a corner on top of boxes of their fresh produce, which they needed access to throughout the morning; so we were being asked to get up several times throughout the meal so they could access the contents of the box. Not a big deal, but when you're trying to catch up with old friends, a tad annoying. Ordering was tough, we waited for about half an hour before getting up and asking waitstaff to come over and take our order. Once the food arrived, we were missing one meal. We let the staff know and they said it was on its way; however half an hour passed and it still hadn't arrived. We flagged someone down again and they admitted it had been forgotten and they were 'making it now'. Another 20 minutes later and it still hadn't arrived, so we gave up and headed to the counter to pay for the two meals we did receive. We mentioned to the staff that we hadn't received the third meal and thus didn't want to pay for it, and got some severe attitude from her claiming 'well its not my fault.' All in all, a bit of a disappointment. We were told Porch had recently relocated, so I hope these issues with food delivery and service were merely teething problems, and they get on track soon, as the place has great potential to be amazing.

Yelp
One of my favourites in Sydney. I've been here a few times now for breakfast and for dinner and I'm mostly impressed that the chef gave me a recipe for the pea pancakes! They were so tasty! It is hard to get a table so definitely get there early and book for dinner. Coffee was really nice, and the service was good as well. I must say though, they did want to sit us on a small "communal" outside table but we were going to be very close to another couple (I'm not sure they wanted us to hear their conversation that closely!) So we opted for an inside table. The outdoor ones are a little close for comfort for two separate parties. The waiter was really good and recommend us some different meals and we enjoyed them all! I was particularly surprised that a cafe who does breakfast really well can also put on a super tasty dinner spread. Well done! I'd definitely go back soon. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Everytime i go here whether it be with friends or by myself (with my dog) the staff are so on point and friendly. They always make me feel so welcome and when busy that i am the only person there. I cannot fault their amazing staff. However, the food portions are too big, everything you order tastes amazing and i always want more... it is just horrible!! It is very clear when you get there as to why it is number 1 for cafes in bondi!

Yelp
Sumptuous yummy brunch spot just off Bondi Beach. Great fresh juice mixed and smoothies. We had the porched egg and avocado on toast which was so tasty. Great to get off the main strip, and a nice friendly vibe here to boot. Would definitely return if we're in Bondi again!

Yelp
Wow! What a brunch spot with a fantastic menu. The labneh eggs with a side of smoked salmon is my go to brunch. The pea pancakes were unlike anything I've ever had. Also the cacao drink and coffee were world class with such friendly baristas!

Yelp
Moved recently from Portland Oregon to Sydney to study. This please makes me feel at home, wonderful job catching the presence of authenticity.

Yelp
We had a breakfast with friends who'd heard great things, so were looking forward to something good. Great coffee, so great start. We ordered the eggs with beetroot, which sounds interesting - and got a plate full of lettuce, with bitter side garnishes, no sourdough or the like. Really, for $17, this is so over-rated and thin on delivery. Not a place we'll be going to again

Yelp
Very popular spot and I can see why! Fab staff, menu and crowd. Sandwiches and juice are rave-worthy, and the staff is incredibly accommodating. When my tea wasn't on the menu, they made a wonderful concoction for my sore throat!

Yelp
Fabulous fresh muffins and very good coffee served slowly. Good food with a pleasant staff. Go early!

Yelp
Good food, great view. I loved the green pea pancake. Who knew peas could be so yummy? My husband didn't love his smash and hash, though he did like the friend halloumi that came with it (who doesn't love halloumi?). Prices were average for the area.
google avatar

Yelp
A bit too small, but the food makes up for the space. I had the spicy breakfast (can't exactly remember the name now) which was just spicy enough and definitely hit the spot, and the green juice was just what I needed for my hangover to go away.
