Where do you find relief on the hottest days of the year? Well Porches of course! A bed and breakfast that lives up to the high praise and galaxy of stars left by the many well-rested travellers experiencing the colonial charm of New Hope. This is a special place for special people. If you're looking for the same tired chain hotel flying that corporate flag, this is not it. This is a memorable place, full of character and details that will move you to want to settle back into the white linens, put down the phone and experience a simpler time. Do the floors creak yes, was it not quite cool enough, yes but for whatever the sighs, the Inn made up for it in hospitality, comfortable areas and fresh baked desserts with a remarkable breakfast. Be open and let yourself have this one indulgence. You don't cross paths often with someone like Lisa whose passion and attention to detail can be found around every corner. I must also give an honorable mention to Mr. Ricardo Gonzalez at the nearby sister property, the Aaron Burr house. A gem of a man who sets the bar high for excellence, conversation and design... my idea of the piano bar will never be the same. Thank you.

I took a short solo trip leading up to my birthday and I really enjoyed my time there and felt so comfortable and safe. I loved the little touches and the care they took for their guests. The owner was warm and friendly and made me feel right at home. I brought my bike down and they are located right on the towpath so I was able to take a quick or a very long bike ride easily. I could also walk right into the main part of town, it was so close, but at the same time the place is tucked away so it's quiet and you don't feel like you are right in the middle of everything. I loved the homemade breakfasts each morning on the downstairs porch and then in the evenings I would sit on the upstairs porch right outside my room. I also loved the décor and colors of the place, kind of artsy. I'll definitely be going back!

Google
Top notch. Wonderful service. Great location in New Hope. Price is still reasonable midweek considering the recent upscaling of New Hope. Breakfast absolutely delicious. Ed and Lisa treated us like family. Constructive criticism about room 11 in particular: Room needs more than 1 tiny trash can (in the bathroom). After just one day, 2 people, that trash can was full, especially after using the in-room coffee service. The table between the two beds was not large enough. There were no other end tables on the other sides of the beds. The room could use a second folding luggage rack. The little shampoo and conditioner safety seals could not be removed easily, especially after we discovered this while already in the shower. Perhaps consider using wall mounted dispensers, or a brand of shampoo/conditioner that don't come with those tiny foil safety seals. Lighting in the bathroom, especially around the mirrors for makeup application, is too dim. After writing all this down I feel like it may be perceived as nitpicking, but this is just some constructive advice to increase the usability of the room, and in NO WAY detracts from my five star review.

We filled the rooms during a recent artists' retreat, and it was the best group experience! Lisa is the owner and Renaissance woman. Her color sense and decorating flare are superb, and she matches that with delicious food and charming service. Some of the rooms are snug, but they are each unique jewel boxes-you want to choose them all! The porches are splendid, plus there's a few gardens to discover, and you may get to visit with the frogs in one of them. We were there during the week, and I was amazed how quiet it was, even though it was close to a main road. A great location to enjoy New Hope and the area.

Google
Late March - Sunday to Tuesday stay. Such a nice B&B! The entire experience was wonderful. Off street parking was easy and convenient. The room was extra large, clean and well appointed. Breakfast was great. The hosts were so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend.

Google
My sisters and I had a great weekend staying here - the room was pretty and spacious, the breakfast was AMAZING, and the location was perfect. We had everything we could need either in our room or in the main house, and the owners and staff were very helpful. Would highly recommend!

Google
We recently spent the weekend at Porches and had a phenomenal time and experience. From the ease of booking and making inquiries into rooms to our wonderful greeting by Graz to the amazing breakfasts by Lisa (the owner) and Bob we can not say enough about our positive experience. They each take amazing pride in guest experiences and their location is in the perfect centrally located spot. After we left and happened to leave a cell phone in one of the rooms, Eddie tracked us down at the Triumph Brewery where we mentioned we would be to hand deliver our cell phone. I am sure this is one of many stories about going above and beyond. The rooms are appointed with the most careful antique selections of historic art and memorabilia. And Oh, the stories......there are several that are captivating which is what makes Porches on the Towpath the absolute best choice. All our best, Tom

Google
I can't rate the rims, service, or location, but I can rate my experience with Lisa, whom I believe may be the owner, Lisa. I corresponded via email with her regarding some questions I had, and she was very responsive and had dining suggestions if we decided to stay at Porches and Towpath. Although they do not offer a military discount, I never used to ask, I feel weird asking, but my wife has convinced me that I should always ask as you never know, I booked out stay for mid June. I'm looking forward to surprising my wife, the Inn, and town look to be right up her alley! I will update review after our stay.

Yelp
A terrific find in New Hope, PA -- a historic B&B nestled between the Delaware River/Main Street and the canal; perfectly situated in the heart of town but removed enough to be quiet, private, and peaceful. Built in the early 1800s (but renovated with perfection), the main house is so well appointed and furnished, spotless, warm and cozy. We stayed on the very private third floor; bed was superb with a ceiling fan, A/C strong and quiet, comfy sitting area with a great desk, private outdoor porch, and the bathroom was outstanding - new shower and antique bathtub. Water was hot immediately. Breakfast was incredible, guests have 24-hour access to kitchen, fridge, coffee & tea, and baked goods sit under glass for guests throughout the day. Eating breakfast outside on the spacious porch or inside in a quaint dining room is a treat. Cost is very fair and affordable - and you get great quality for the dollar. The hosts - Lisa & Bob - were warm and caring, totally committed to the property. Can't wait to return...

Yelp
Absolutely lovely B&B. The owner makes breakfast from scratch The room 12 was ours and it did not disappoint us. Great dinners at Odettes, Stella's and a short drive to Peddlers Village and had dinner at Earl's all while taking in the Christmas decorations everywhere. The attention to detail was wonderful. We will visit again!!!

Yelp
100% recommend for solo travelers! I do a lot of solo traveling, and this is by far one of the best places I've stayed. Porches is conveniently located just off of the Main Street and right along the towpath, which means easy access to both. However, the gardens and small entry/parking area provides privacy from the busy downtown streets. It's like being in the middle of the tourist district without being surrounded by a ton of tourists. I had no hesitance walking back to Porches at night (or around the rest of the town!) I stayed in Room #4 in the main house, which is the perfect size for one person. This room also had porch access, which was nice for relaxing in the evenings. Most importantly, make sure to stick around for breakfast! There are a ton of food options around New Hope, but trust me, you'll want to try whatever is on the rotating menu here. I hope to visit again soon!

Yelp
My husband and I were attending a wedding in the New Hope area and needed to find a place to stay for the night. We found this adorable Bed and Breakfast and decided to book it! We have never been to this establishment before, so once we parked, we were trying to find where to check in/get your keys. I saw the office (which is in a small little hut), but there was no one inside (we arrived right at the start of check in, around 3:00 PM or so). We decided to walk to the main house which is where our room was so we could try and get someone's attention. Thankfully, the woman asked if we were checking in and she pointed us to the direction of the hut to check in (which we explained that there was no one there). She walked with us to the hut to help us check in and get our keys. Unfortunately, her system wasn't working properly, so it took a little longer to check in (roughly 10 minutes or so). I was a little nervous since the wedding was starting in about 45 minutes and we still needed to Uber there, but thankfully, we made it just in time! The house is beautiful and quaint. The woman who checked us in asked if we had ever been there before (to which we said no) and she explained a little about the property, the gardens, and Breakfast being on the porch or in the dining room the next morning. She also made banana bread upon our arrival which was nice! The staircase is a little tight, I'm a plus size individual and was close to knocking the paintings off the wall with my shoulder. Once we got to our room, she showed us around a little bit and then we put our bags down and did a quick walk around the room. I loved the bathroom, but I wish the set up was a little different. They have the shower and a HUGE sink in the main portion of the bathroom, and the toilet is in a small alcove of the wall facing the door to the hallway. It has a pocket door to close the bathroom, but it is a VERY tight squeeze. Again, me being a plus size person, I was unable to close the door any time I went to the bathroom. Thankfully I was staying with my husband, so this isn't a huge deal, but I would be MORTIFIED if I was staying the night with a friend. I would recommend the sink being put in this small alcove (making the sink smaller) and putting the toilet in the larger portion of the bathroom to make it more body inclusive and to give people some privacy! The floors were old wooden floors which had charm, but DEFINITELY creaked, and BADLY. I have never heard wooden floors creak that loudly. The room had a private deck which was very cute and I got lovely photos there! The lamps even had a USB outlet to plug in your phone which I appreciated! The only minor complaints I have are about the bed and the following morning. The bed was very hard (which my husband is totally fine with, he loves practically sleeping on a board), however, I wish it was a little more comfortable. The pillows were soft (which I liked), however, my husband wished the pillows were a little firmer and ended up sleeping on a decorative pillow (eww)... Finally, the following morning, I woke up around 7:30 AM and heard a lot of loud talking and dishes being clattered around. I believe this is because Breakfast started at 9:00 AM, so perhaps the kitchen staff was getting started prepping for the meals. I think our room was directly above the kitchen which would explain the noise, but it was very very loud. When we were checking out, we left around 10:15/10:30 AM (check out is at 11:00 AM). We walked to the hut and again, no one was there, so we just left the keys on the desk and drove away (hopefully that is okay!). When we left, the parking lot was SUPER CROWDED (which was strange, because the previous night around 10:00 PM there was not many cars, so we didn't know where everyone was coming from). The cars were also so packed together that it made it difficult to drive out of the driveway, but thankfully we made it! All in all, I think it's a cute place, and perhaps my husband and I just didn't understand the standard process (not being used to it), but I definitely think some changes could be made to make it more accommodating to larger individuals (while still maintaining it's old world character and charm).

Yelp
Very quaint bed and breakfast place in the heart of New Hope. We went on a girls weekend and had a wonderful time. The host, Lisa was very hospitable and her homemade breakfasts were delicious.

Mike Y.

Yelp
My wife and I were attending a wedding in the area and made a last minute decision to book a room somewhere close to the reception. The photos online of this bed and breakfast looked decent/acceptable and they had a vacancy, so we booked it. To our great surprise, this bed and breakfast turned out to be a beautiful lodging with a unique and magical ambiance . Gorgeous gardens and quiet spaces throughout the property nestled down an almost hidden street right on the main drag of charming New Hope. The hosts and staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was wonderful: homemade chocolate chip muffins, a delicious fruit salad , overnight oats and breakfast enchiladas. Delicious and a huge upgrade from the usual standard breakfast fare I have come to expect from lesser B&B's. We stayed at the Gatekeeper's Inn and the room was tastefully furnished, clean and comfortable. It was truly a wonderful experience and we look forward to returning soon!!!

Yelp
1st time here for our 21st anniversary, very beautiful here !!!! Can't wait to come back for a few nights & especially for the breakfast !! Loved room #9 w/ the sky lights !! (just 1/2 block away from The LANDINGS Restaurant)

Lauren S.

Yelp
This place is a little slice of heaven and I would rate it higher than a 5 if I could. It is the perfect escape for a romantic getaway or even with a girlfriend, which was my experience last month. New Hope is so cute and this perfect bed and breakfast is right in the middle of it all, but you would never know because it's tucked away down a little pathway. It's only a couple minute walk to amazing bars and restaurants and there's no need to drive to take an Uber because you can walk to everything. The bed was probably one of the most comfortable beds I had ever slept in, and the home-made breakfast in the morning was incredible. You can tell there is a lot of care that goes into this place. I cannot wait to come back again and again.

Yelp
We happened to get really lucky and got a room here at the last minute. We were doing a historical road trip hitting all the spots concerning the Revolutionary War with a few side trips of other interesting spots. Lisa the owner is also a history buff and recommended the Mercer Castle, not too far from New Hope. It was fantastic. Back to the B&B; such a charming place and the staff was fantastic. Lisa is a fabulous cook and we enjoyed our stay immensely! There is an adorable garden setting to hang out in and our room on the second floor happened to have a little private porch. We sat out and enjoyed a glass of wine and snacks. The buildings are made up of an old granary along a canal. Full of history and charm! This was our favorite stay on a 2 week road trip from Philadelphia, up to Fort Ticonderoga and back down to Boston. Porches on the Towpath was by far our favorite of all of our accommodations!

Amy S.

Yelp
My husband and I had a lovely weekend here. It's in a great location and walkable to the main parts of New Hope and Lambertville. The couple that own this inn are so lovely and friendly. The rooms are adorable and everything is very clean. There is also a cute overgrown garden and in the evening it's covered in fairy lights. Complementary breakfast was delicious and they made something special for my husband who has a gluten allergy. The only thing to keep in mind is that parking is very tight, so if you gave a larger vehicle it might be tricky.

Kat G.

Yelp
We had the most amazing weekend at porches. Lisa and Bob were great hosts and you could tell they really love what they do. Highly recommend their breakfasts, so delicious and filling! The stuffed French toast is to die for and we only had to walk out our door onto our private deck to feel like we were out to breakfast. We stayed in room #1 and it was absolutely beautiful. Loved the French style decor and the tv hidden behind the painting over the fireplace- such a cool touch! There was complimentary coffee available all day and a keurig in our room as well. The location was central to everything in New Hope and only a short walk over the bridge into Lambertville. Lisa and Bob had great recommendations for places to eat and antique as well. We loved our weekend away and can't wait to stay at porches again soon!

Jan P.

Yelp
Absolutely lovely and charming and beautifully appointed inside and out. Bob and Sean were very welcoming and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. We stayed here for 2 nights for our 28th wedding anniversary in room 12. It is on the small side but so well decorated with antiques and reproductions. The bathtub has fixtures by Koehler called Birthday bath. The large tub was lovely for soaking after long walks. I've never sat in a tub in a hotel before this, it was spotlessly clean so I couldn't resist. Breakfast was served daily on the porch of the main building. So nice to sit outside and hear the birds and see people pass on the towpath. Food was served well and pleasantly but was just average and coffee was weak. The bed was one of the most uncomfortable beds we've ever slept in. Much too hard. Pillows weren't great either. Those are the two things that drop my rating from 5 stars to 4. However, all in all, a wonderful stay in a very convenient location. We left our car outside our room and walked everywhere. A bit pricey at $280 per night. But we had a great weekend away.

Justin M.

Yelp
Amazing hospitality and a very nice place to stay! Great food nearby and cute shops.

Bruce P.

Yelp
Loved this place! The location is perfect. Our room (Room 1 in the main building) was beautifully decorated and lacked nothing. The place is spotless. And, breakfast was delicious. We'll definitely be back.

C M.

Yelp
Under new ownership, this lovely Bed and Breakfast has done that rare hospitality magic trick: gotten a facelift but retained every inch of its classic quirky charm. The front garden has been given major TLC and now feels like the perfect spot for a party or a serene sit. The food was delish before but now has a gourmet feel: homemade baked apples, pastries, breakfast enchiladas, fruit salad with fresh mint. But it's still like coming home. Bobby (the backbone of the place) is an old friend and Lisa is a new one. Worth every single penny. We adore it here.

Kate N.

Yelp
Tucked away close to Bridge Street, Porches was a little bit of heaven! Quiet, peaceful, cozy. Our room had two floors of charming decor with comfortable seating, quality linens, and a very comfortable bed and pillows. I would definitely stay here again if coming in from the west coast. The owner was full of interesting facts about the history of the main house which had been a grainary in the early 1800's until remodeled as a house later on in that century. Homemade breakfast was different and delicious each day. You are steps away from lovely restaurants and interesting shops and the charming little streets where architecture speaks of colonial days. Loved it!

Lora Ann N.

Yelp
Location was great right in the middle of town. Rooms were small but very nice. Had a nice deck where I could see the train station and Canal and walking path. Host were extremely nice breakfast was good. The only constructive criticism is that they should have a larger TV it was extremely tiny and we need regular channels on it not just the movie channels. I will definitely be back

Susan B.

Yelp
Lovely experience! The grounds are full of little surprises in the garden, and it's wonderful to be right at the towpath for walking. My room was clean and had the most deliciously comfortable bed, and I slept the best nights of sleep I've had in months. I don't usually eat sweets, but I indulged in their yummy scones. Lisa and Bob are very friendly and super helpful. I'll be back soon!

Connie D.

Yelp
What a wonderful surprise! Was recommended by a local and will definitely come back. Beautiful room and a exceptional breakfast. Lisa is a great and welcoming host.

A B.

Yelp
I loved my stay here. The room was cute and clean, the staff was super friendly, the breakfasts were delicious and the location was perfect. I would definitely stay there again and hope I get to again soon!

Philip G.

Yelp
Very nice old home converted to a B&B, and very nicely done. Right on the towpath/canal and centrally located, close to town, playhouse, restaurants and shops. Bob at the front desk was as friendly and helpful as could be, Lisa cooked a wonderful breakfast and everyone else we met was pleasant and nice. Lisa tells some great stories too. Rooms are quiet and interesting, ours had direct access to the porch and we could see the canal from the window.

Anna M.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I truly had the most incredible stay at porches. It is tucked away on a quiet side street right in the middle of New Hope with easy access to all of the amazing food and shopping that the town has to offer. Porches feels like a little oasis with incredible landscaping and antique decor that has clearly been chosen with intention and care. Each room is decorated so uniquely. We stayed in room #3 and we would highly recommend the room if you are looking for a calming and cozy experience. We stayed here in the winter, but we are already planning our summer trip so that we can take advantage of the porch! The staff here is also so absolutely kind and hospitable. It almost feels like you are staying with family. And in the morning, you can join other guests downstairs for a lovely breakfast. My boyfriend is celiac and I am a vegetarian, and the staff went out of their way to accommodate our dietary restrictions (the food is amazing!). I really wish we could give this place more stars. If you are planning to stay over in new hope...you should absolutely stay at porches. We will certainly be back soon.

Victoria M.

Yelp
Super cute and cozy! Everyone was kind and welcoming. The accommodations were very generous and breakfast was absolutely delicious. It is an old home and a classic bed and breakfast, so you'll hear other guests throughout your stay, but we really enjoyed ourselves and the location was amazing. Thank you for having us!

Rich E.

Yelp
The Porches location and setting is perfectly convenient to all off the shops and restaurants in New Hope, a mere block from Main Street. It's nicely secluded along the towpath and has wonderful gardens and facilities. We've only stayed one time (mid-September 2021) so can only comment on our room - Room 1 in the main house. The room is easy access from the first floor, immediately off the dining room. It is a bit small but has an outside access along with the main entrance and has a full bath. My only comment is that there are a few layout inconveniences in this room (plugs, lights, insufficient drawer space) but keeping in mind that like most B&Bs in historic buildings, the infrastructure (electric and plumbing) needed to be worked around the existing framework of the building; these are easily overlooked when the overall charm and location are considered. The services are 5 star as is the amazing food offerings at breakfast. Despite the need for some minor (stress MINOR) refresh and updates, I would still give the Porches a 5 star rating. We would definitely return here - Lisa and her staff are to be highly commended for a job well-done!

Maria F.

Yelp
We loved our room and the hospitality was excellent. Breakfast was definitely our best , well located.

Jonathan G.

Yelp
Place is awesome. A lot of history. Breakfast was delicious and the hosts are incredibly accommodating. Right in downtown and you can walk to anything and everything!

alexis S.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here this past week for our second honeymoon. The room was basic but nice, however no housekeeping until we left, which is unfortunate and a disadvantage. Although inconvenient, we cleaned our room and obtained our own necessities when needed. There was no TV in our room, however we were allowed to watch the TV in the common-room. The B&B is charming, with gorgeous gardens, however the guests were loud and rowdy throughout our stay. The breakfast was delicious and served with a smile, although I did not enjoy the constant use of the term "you guys" by the entire staff to address my husband and I. It became offensive after a day or 2 of hearing. I, personally, do not recommend this place to my trans-community.

Èric H.

Yelp
As bed and breakfasts go this is the quintessential location. Great surroundings and they are making improvements. Terrific service a 1st class business, Bob is just a wonderful person who cares about your comfort. When I leave it feels like I'm leaving home and can't wait to return.

Joseph S.

Yelp
Searching for a getaway for the night we chose Porches on the Towpath Bed & Breakfast conveniently located close to the heart of New Hope. Stayed in room 6 which has a private little outdoor area surrounded by the bamboo garden. We chose breakfast on the upper porch that John the owner graciously brought to us on a lovely quite morning. Blueberries and apple slices on a thick waffle was very good and filling. Easy walking distance to all the shops. We had a good time and hope to return in the future.

Becki B.

Yelp
Loved it!! My bestie and I were just enjoying a bit of a girls' weekend away and found Porches on a very lucky search for a B&B in the area. We were in room one and loved the entrance straight to the porch, adjacent to the canal path up to the road. Breakfast was delicious - waffles with fruit and perfect bacon the first day, and a wonderful breakfast casserole with lots of cheese the second day. We admittedly spent a few minutes wondering how they got the GIGANTIC wardrobe into our room, and my friend had some suspicions about it being haunted. The tv hidden behind the picture was also creepy/cool. It was agreed that we would both love to stay at Porches again and see more of the rooms.

Jimmy J.

Yelp
Great place to stay. The B&B was very clean and cute. We would definitely stay there again.

Amy G.

Yelp
My husband and I were thrilled with our 3-night stay at Porches! What a magical place! Both rooms we stayed in were lovely and comfortable, with much attention to detail. The location of the Inn is ideal, within walking distance of shops, restaurants, the playhouse, museums and the train station...and Lambertville NJ is a short stroll over the Bridge that crosses the Delaware River. Lisa, the proprietor, is a talented chef, decorator and conversationalist, who is gifted with a wonderful personality and kind spirit. The breakfasts were elegant and delicious, from the baked apples, banana bread, and homemade holiday jam to the scrumptious egg and bacon "Porches sliders". This Inn is warm and inviting, and the porches themselves are quite special...we are so thankful we chose to stay here!

Jeffrey S.

Yelp
I have been staying here for close to 9 years. I absolutely positively love it. I have stayed in many B&Bs but this is by far my favorite. Beautiful decor, friendly staff and excellent breakfast make this the perfect getaway. Not a mediocre room in the place. I would never consider staying elsewhere in New Hope. Love it!

Frederick S.

Yelp
We really liked this B & B. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Jennifer was great with breakfast, served with grace and delicious. She was quick to reset the table, and offered to serve breakfast outside on the porches! Very peaceful sitting on the porch; we even saw an egret make a landing in the canal. Bird songs fill the air outside, and the grey squirrels are busy. Very quiet inside, and a lot of work went into converting this former granary into a multi room B&B. You get all the amenities of a chain motel, WiFi, ice, free breakfast, etc, but with all the charm of a fine old establishment.

Jeanette K.

Yelp
However beautiful photos online are, they cannot prepare you for the Porches experience. The personality, beauty and comfort of each room is extraordinary. The relaxed, warm, generous, sensitive nature of John and his staff was especially meaningful, as I was traveling alone. Breakfast rivals the best you may have had anywhere. Good coffee keeps flowing. The quiet, magical setting may fool you...you are an easy walk from the bustle of New Hope and the bridge to Lambertville. Lastly, the namesake porches invite easy conversation and sharing with friends you've just made.

Carolyn S.

Yelp
What a wonderful place and perfect location in New Hope, PA! We really enjoyed our stay and Bob and John were fantastic hosts! Our rooms were charmingly decorated. The place is right next to the tow path which made walking/running so easy. We would highly recommend this B&B.

Scott B.

Yelp
Service: Absolutely great. John and staff are so friendly and accommodating ... they even reserved a table for us without our asking just because we talked about the view. John has a lot of good recommendations for food and shopping in the area as well as gardening tips! Good service without being stuffy or formal. Shout out to Mimi! Room: Beautifully decorated. Like the rest of the property, there are lots of little touches of interesting things. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was great. Location and Amenities: Couldn't be better. A gate from the garden opens onto the towpath, which is a great place for a morning jog or walk. The main part of town with shops and restaurants is a short walk away. Plus, the property is located off of a short alley, so even though it's close to all the town amenities, is just enough removed to be quite and peaceful.

Estefania M.

Yelp
Beautiful and romantic Inn in the center of the town. Perfect to spend the weekend in the winter. I cant wait to go again this year!

Sean F.

Yelp
Couldn't have enjoyed our stay more. Our room was colorful, comfortable, and quiet. John was wonderful and very generous. Breakfast was excellent. If you are looking for an affordable option right in New Hope, you can't do better than Porches.

Barbara E.

Yelp
What a wonderful escape! Such an awesome lil oasis for 2 nights! We stayed in the gatekeepers house room 12. Very clean and comfortable. The secret garden is so serene and beautiful and lovely at night! The breakfast was delicious! Everything's homade and fresh! Lisa (the owner) and Bob are wonderful, always so pleasant and helpful in advising the best places to go. I can not say anything negative about this place, I'm ready to go back!

Suzie H.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed 3 nights in June to attend a wedding and celebrate our anniversary. We loved New Hope and our stay at Porches on the Towpath made it wonderful. I do not have a great array of B&B stays to compare it to. The pillows weren't my favorite, there were some issues with cleanliness and part of the mixed fruit served with breakfast was canned. Great points were the theme of decor, the use of the porch (our room opened to the upper deck), warmth and helpfulness of the owner, the location, access to the Towpath and the free parking. The breakfasts were filling, served hot and tasty. Coffee and tea are readily available. I would stay here again.

Yelp
We loved our stay at Porches. We were in room 2 that is cozy but has direct access to the deck outside which was lovely. It was just before Thanksgiving so the weather was cold outside but never inside. We parked the car and just walked everywhere! The Inn is centrally located but private and quiet. The breakfast was wonderful -- the first day a frittata, the second day scrambled eggs with bacon. Portions are large so you will not be hungry! John is an excellent host and we really enjoyed every aspect of our stay. The house rules mean the other guests were very compatible with us and we enjoyed meeting them over breakfast. Can't wait to return.

Yelp
Based on the reviews we chose Porches to celebrate our anniversary weekend away. I'm so glad we did. Tucked off the main strip, it's walking distance from all of the bars and restaurants. It sits right next to the canal where there's a great walking path. The breakfast was excellent both days. Sunday's strata was the perfect hangover cure. The staff was warm and friendly. All around great place to spend a weekend in this charming town!

Yelp
My wife and I stayed there this last Friday and Saturday. We stayed in room 12 which was very large with a king bed and a separate bathtub and shower. First of all what a great location. Right off main street and 1 block from the bridge into Lambertsville. Carol the manager greeted us and showed us to our room. She was very helpful in recommending restaurants and giving us directions. The breakfast that were served were very good. We had waffles and bacon one morning. They served an egg souffle dish the next morning which we did not have. It was a very romantic and wondeful experience we had at Porches. Will definetly stayed there next time. We would recommend this to everyone. What a great B&B.

Yelp
I want to live here forever! The host and staff are friendly and helpful without being imposing. The rooms are all very tastefully decorated and comfortable. The ambiance is laid back and friendly. The gardens are lush and pleasantly overgrown. New Hope can get a little crowded and loud; Porches is right in the middle of everything, but it succeeds in being quiet and tranquil. The breakfasts are huge and delicious, and are served on the porch. The coffee was so good I overdosed! Make sure you ask the owner to show you his jack russell's ball trick. We loved our room, #3. It was small but cozy, not at all cramped. We loved the antiques as well as the art on the walls. The room was private, but had french doors leading to the balcony. The balcony was comfortably furnished and surrounded by trees, making it a lovely place to hang out in the afternoon. Our mattress was a bit more firm than I prefer but I slept like a baby. Make sure you bring your own toiletries; I packed light, assuming that they would have little shampoo bottles. They only provide soap. The atmosphere is very warm, welcoming, and relaxed. After a long, crowded afternoon of shopping, it was heaven to walk down Fisher's Alley to our peaceful little nest. I love this place. New Hope is a long way from home and I went assuming that it was a one-time visit. Now I really look forward to returning and staying longer. What a wonderful experience!

Yelp
My husband surprised me with a night away from the kids. We were greeted warmly. I was quite and tucked away and was relaxing. John was informative about the local restaurants and made several good recommendations. The only and main down point was our bed was so hard I felt like we were laying on board.

Yelp
My wife and a friend and I just spent 4 nights at this charming establishment. John, the owner, could not have been more warm and welcoming. The property itself is spread out between three buildings, nestled amongst lots of trees and foliage on the banks of the Delaware Canal. Each unit has some sort of a covered porch which is just great for sitting and reading or sipping fresh coffee surrounded by lots of sounds of nature. Our adjacent units were upstairs in the Gatekeepr's House and had a large private porch spanning both units with tables and chairs - SO pleasant first thing in the morning! Coffee and tea are available at 7AM, with a hearty, fresh-made breakfast served between 8 and 10AM. While there is indoor seating, most of the guests chose outdoors at tables of 2-4 on the porch area that surrounds the main building, upstairs and downstairs. The guest rooms were very cute and well appointed, and each has its own bathroom. For being as compact as they are, we never felt cramped. Rooms and bathrooms were neat and clean. One somewhat unexpected amenity is that each room is equipped with an excellent air conditioner - a welcome perk after a hot day of strolling the town of New Hope, PA or Lambertsville, NJ, just across the Delaware River. We met a number of folks who use Porches as their getaway from New Jersey, Washington DC, and New York City. If we ever need to return to this area, we will stay here in a heartbeat! Thank you John for this attractive and endearing gem! BTW - Lulu the resident Jack Russell Terrier was as welcoming as her owner!

Yelp
Wow! My boyfriend and I decided to not waste a late September day off together and took a mini road trip to New Hope. No plans made at all, we were totally prepared to rough it at a cheap motel if need be. After arriving in town we google searched available places and Porches on the Towpath came up as an available option with 1 room left. Now we don't usually stay at B&Bs- I don't know why, I just never have. Skeptically, we decided to drive over and check it out. Now picture this scene: Late September, 68 degrees, light misty rain and ominous grey skies. After driving through farmland and the occasional boarded up business of yesteryear you stumble upon a quaint, artsy village (Lambertville, NJ) and cross a bridge constructed of metal grates to enter New Hope. The town is bustling with shoppers on their quest to find some eclectic treasure despite the passing autumn rain. You turn down what appears to be an alleyway that soon becomes a red gravel drive. A historic "carriage house-like" building greets you to your left with a sign reading "Lodging". Could this be the place? Seems a bit shabby with a backdrop of gloomy clouds. But just down the path you encounter a beautiful, historic colonial with 2 wrap around porches to your right and a perfectly overgrown "secret" garden with trellised vines ahead of you. You park your car, still a bit wary about this place but hopeful and eager that it could possibly be a hidden gem. Well my friend, it is! You step up onto the porch and you're greeted by historic antiquities, wicker chairs and romantically dim lighting. You enter the common rooms and are met by the inn keeper who is friendly and eager to show you around. The place is very clean and the rooms are filled with antique furnishings. You put your bags down and step out onto the porch from your room and take in the trees and the entire feeling of this place. It is nostalgically fulfilling like you've been here before and you're already comfortable here. Back down the stairs you go and under the trellis of vines into the garden. The leaves are still wet and shining now in the rays of sunlight that are peeking through the clouds. There's statues hiding behind magnolia leaves and a fishpond with lilies growing over the sides. Where am I? I'm reminded of the gardens of Savannah. This little botanical hideout feels like your own secret garden, begging you to stay. Then, to the delight of your wonderfully overwhelmed eyes you see the enclosed gazebo with cast iron chandelier, table and chairs. End Scene. Guys- don't pass this place up! It has truly been an eye opener to me for B&Bs but I don't know if the next one I venture to stay at will hold up these standards. And all the excitement of town is just steps away.

Yelp
Terrific experience at a fun and beautiful B & B, This is only the 3rd B & B I've been to and it is my favorite. The gardens are gorgeous and remind me of the amazing garden artwork in Mercer Mayer books (Mrs. Beggs and The Wizard in particular). The proprietor, John, was very attentive and made a delicious breakfast the next day. I had a very cool room with a nautical theme which had a crow's nest in it. I could have stayed here for a week as the bed and room were very comfortable. I hope to go back and take my wife sometime.
