Fantastic. Great ambiance in a character building, excellent FRESH food made to order and great service. The squash ravioli, bacon wrapped scallops and the BBQ beef brisket ramen were perfect. Best ravioli I’ve had in recent memory. Other restaurants in the city may get “talked about more” as the best option for a nice evening out, but to me this is a hidden gem and is either 1A or 1B no matter the other choices.

WOW! My first stop in Saint John and I am not disappointed! I did my research and it's darn near flawless! Exceptional food and service. The chicken liver mousse and lobster ravioli were fantastic! As for the dessert...yum!! A true gem!

We stopped in after a many hours drive from central Maine. We just made it in under to wire before closing. Our food was amazing and we especially loved our waitress who made our experience fabulous. We plied her with lots of questions about the area, the Provence, the languages spoken, etc. She was gracious enough to give us scoop and then some. We plan to return to St. John next year and we will definitely return to Port City Royal.

The place itself is cute and "homey". A little dark. We ordered the lobster ravioli for $31 + tax (not exactly a cheap meal) and it was literally 5 ravioli. After spending that money, we had to go and buy another dinner elsewhere because we were still hungry. The ravioli was tasty, but nowhere near enough for a meal.

3 weeks in a row I've had exceptional food and service. I'd tell you everything I tasted was this and that. There's no point. Just go yourself! I hate you chef!

Food was overall alright. The bread & butter, pea soup and tuna tartare were delicious. The pasta-like dish was quite salty. And the dessert had individual elements that were either too sweet or too sour, and it was hard trying to get that balance of sweet & sour with each bite. Would still like to try again hoping for a better main and dessert the next time around.

Get on out here to visit this one if you can. Had a great time. The drinks, staff, the leather and the ambiance a truly awesome spot. Wish id had the chance to try the food, next time!

The food was good, but the portions were quite small and I didn’t leave feeling full. The drinks were just okay. Overall, everything on the menu felt very overpriced for what you get. The service was excellent, though the restaurant lacked proper airflow, making it stuffy and it was dimly lit.
