Port Douglas Backpackers

Location is perfect, the reception girls are very friendly and helpful. However, if you’re looking for a short term social stay avoid! Most of the other visitors live in the hostel and aren’t very welcoming. Bathroom and kitchen were a bit gross but the staff were cleaning a lot.

I had a great 2-night-stay as a solo traveller at Port Douglas Backpackers. Great location, in the center of Port Douglas. I was just visiting but as I know many people do their 88 days there, there's a gym in there, that seemed to have lots of weights and mats which I think is nice. Only down, the bathrooms could be better! Overall a great stay, I really recommend

This is by far the worst hostel in Australia. Go to Doogies or somewhere else. It's the cheapest for a reason. Staff throw away guests' bags and steal unlabelled bottles. Not to mention the filth everywhere. No cleaning at all. Nothing. Get out as fast as you can.

This was one of the best hostels in Australia I have been to. The hostel feels very spacious and it is in a very good location, everything is within walking distance. The staff are very helpful and everyone is very friendly. I was only meant to stay 3 nights however ended up extending this to a week. Would definitely recommend this hostel.

It was an incredibly pleasant experience during my stay at Port Douglas Backpackers. The ambiance and energy were truly delightful. Furthermore, I received exceptional care from the receptionists, Paola and Sophie, who ensured that I felt completely at ease and welcomed. It is evident that the staff is highly professional, making my stay even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this establishment.

Staying at port Douglas backpackers was a lovely experience! Great location and great service. There is a great and social atmosphere. The only thing that could be better where the lockers in the mixed room (only 4 lockers to 6 beds). But overal I really enjoyed my stay!

Dirtiest hostel that I’ve ever stayed. Booked a week, but only was able to stay one night, and they still haven’t processed my refund. Manager showed up after 8 times that I went to ask for my money, worst service ever. Also, they put us on a room of 8 mens and my girlfriend was the only woman, we requested to relocate to mixed room but there was one answer from them. Don’t recommend this place at all…

I honestly pray for this hostel. Fridges and a pantry that’s smells like a crime scene. Toilets loosing and wasting tons of water in all bathrooms. Showers that will peel off your skin, because no option of fresh water (just boiling). The pool water it’s disgusting most of the time. The gate entrance is flooded non stop - they did a lot of noise for two weeks to fix it and it’s the same again. Noisy everyday during mornings and afternoons due to the machinery work that is happening at the moment. For last, I would like to refer that this was the most unpleasant and unfriendly staff that I’ve ever dealt with. Unprofessional and completely lost. Always trying to lecture you for some reason, and even being patronising. Sounds good! Give some credit to Brodie as manager but difficult interactions with other members of the staff. Very passive aggressive responses and behaviours which is not cool for a backpackers hostel, you know? Chill out, Good vibes and remember, if you want to have a hell of an experience, just go there!
