Porta Hotel Antigua | Condé Nast Traveler

"The original building plus two newer annexes provide a stylish and rustic getaway in the heart of Mayan culture. Parrots and cobblestones blend seamlessly with modern convenience. Large by Antiguan standards, the scale is nonetheless attentive and individualized, no more so than at the spa—treat yourself to a session in the temazcal sauna, indigenous to Antigua."

Didn’t stay at this hotel but attended a destination wedding here and it was BEAUTIFUL! We loved it. Such a memorable place that captures the beauty of Antigua. It was our first time in Guatemala and we were blown away with how beautiful this trip was. The hotel grounds were well kept, very romantic, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. There was a rooftop for cocktail hour after the ceremony and the reception was stunning. The food was also amazing!! Great place for a wedding.

The hotel is very comfortable and the rooms are nice. Some other comparably priced places have a better Antigua Ambiance. The pool is great for the kids and nice in general. The main problem with the experience is the hotel and bar which is managed very differently than the hotel. The bar and restaurant are extremely overpriced and despite paying for a party of four to stay at the hotel only 2 breakfasts were included with the room and only one selection at that. The restaurant and bar service was mediocre at best and we were overcharged. The bar service was rude when I asked for a drink without ice, they served me ice, they proceeded to pick out the ice rather than make a new drink. Stay here, eat and drink elsewhere.

5 stars all around! This was an incredible trip and Porta Hotel was a major part of this being a rejuvenating time for me. Was not in Antigua for a vacation, but staying here made it feel like one. Antigua is a beautiful city with so much to offer. Would totally go back! How many other times do you get to have volcano views right outside your room?! 🌋

I had a truly wonderful stay at Porta Hotel Antigua. From the moment I checked in, the service was outstanding. Within just ten minutes of being in my room, I received a thoughtful call from the front desk to make sure everything was perfect—which it absolutely was. That small gesture really set the tone for the rest of my stay. The hotel itself is stunning. It’s beautifully designed with charming colonial architecture, lush courtyards, and peaceful garden areas that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a tranquil oasis. The rooms are equally beautiful—elegant, spacious, and impeccably clean, with warm wood accents and local touches that add to the overall charm. Every detail, from the courteous staff to the luxurious amenities, made my stay exceptional. I wouldn’t hesitate to return and highly recommend Porta Antigua to anyone looking for a memorable and relaxing experience in Antigua.

A truly great hotel. First class and beautiful and clean! Highly recommend. Our check in process took a little while but it's understandable with the amount of people in our group. The restaurant and rooms are amazing!

Porta did such an amazing job of making Antigua feel like home. From the attentive service to the luxurious touches throughout, they made sure our experience was elite. Paula went above and beyond to ensure that we were taken care of in every aspect. Highly recommend for all business events or personal stays!!!

Our family loves staying at El Porta Hotel Antigua when we visit Guatemala. It is blocks away from the town square, the rooms are spacious and clean. The pool and playground are always a hit with our young children and the food is delicious. Our favorites were the chicken burger, pepian, rellenitos and everything on the kids menu (large portions). There was a small hiccup with our large group during a Sunday afternoon lunch but the staff went above and beyond to remedy the situation and offered us hot cocoa and atol de platano on the house for the inconvenience. I am still dreaming of both and wish that they sold the powdered cocoa at their gift shop to bring home. Our servers, Miriam, Alexander and Carlos to name a few were amazing and we can’t wait for our next trip back!

The breakfast is wonderful. The staff, including Gladys, were very friendly. There are beautiful views of the volcano while eating. It is a highly recommended stop for breakfast in Antigua. The orange juice is fresh squeezed and is recommended to try
