Porta Portese

It’s worth waking up early to head to this market! I came here around 7am as they were opening and manage to get around without it being too overcrowded. I spent a few hours around here and if you need a break there are cafes nearby on the sides of the market also food stalls further along the street - definitely bring cash as not many stalls have card machines (and there are often queues at ATM’s nearby) overall a great experience! Got many things within my budget!

Look it was ok, we went early in the morning which was great! Some brand clothing expensive n wasn’t sure if originals. Some stools were fun to look at like, we brought some material which will be cool to make a memory of Rome

This weekend market is an experience in itself - it’s super long and can be quite overwhelming. Once you’ve gone in, it’s a little hard to exit so you have to go through the entire length of this market (not bad though as there’s so much to see and stalls to explore). Didn’t leave with any goods however — some products are fast fashion goods that were priced a little too steep for second hand goods. There’s stalls with vintage items but didn’t browse that much. We were expecting some food stalls in between but we only saw one sandwich shop and a coffee & pastry shop; that’s it. Also, make sure to use the loo first before going here as there’s none in the entire stretch.

If you have a few hours on a Sunday morning, Porta Portese is worth a visit, especially the quieter, lesser-known section. Beyond the usual market chaos, there’s another side where local artisans display their handmade pieces and vintage enthusiasts sell genuine antique treasures. You’ll need around 3-4 hours to explore it properly, but it’s time well spent. Between old books, retro jewelry, and unique furniture finds, this part of Porta Portese reveals a charming, authentic Rome that still values craftsmanship and history.

Absolutely rammed and no side alleys to exit if you get overwhelmed. Hundreds of stalls selling mostly cheap repro stuff and tables of low cost second hand clothes, scarves, bags, shoes etc stuff. Definite flea market vibe but very little homeware that we found. Better vintage in shops towards the main centre of trastavere but glad we went even if you do need to wash your hands thoroughly after leaving.

Amazing local market one of the biggest in Rome. But you have to go early because it gets crowded very quickly. Every Sunday morning 06:00-14:00

Insanely crowded. I walked 2/3 of the way through before giving up and turning to fight my way out. Stalls were mostly fast fashion, very few vintage clothing stalls or antiques.

Highly recommended weekend market. Lots of local stuffs here including clothing's, food, hobbies, books, household items and all. Walking throughout the stretch could easily take 1-2 hours. Make this market one of your must visit on a weekend.
