This place is awesome! Super central and the staff are great! So friendly! The rooftop is awesome - great sunset spot. Also the free daily activities are a bonus incl tango lessons 😁I stayed in the female four bed dorm and we had our own bathroom so that's a plus too.

We were given a room on the top floor. The room and bathroom were superficially clean and the windows did not close properly. It was an unseasonably cold July (winter in Argentina) with temperatures around 2-3 degrees at night. Needless to say, it was not an especially warm night’s sleep. We’d booked for 3 nights but left after 1. Marketed as a 2 star hotel but this is generous in the extreme.

The daily events were a great way for solo travelers to meet other people. Rooftop bar is a cool hang out spot, and is well used by guests. The breakfast is not included and isn't really worth the price - better to walk a block or two and get coffee, OJ, and medialunas (croissants) like a local. Good central location, but not many restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Clean and not too loud, not a party hostel.

Awesome, spacious and cool hostel. Cool rooftop with free breakfast. We stayed there on the weekend and it was a little loud at night until 8am as there is a club downstairs and the bass vibrated through the room - bear in mind if you're after a good night's sleep.

Arriving at Portal del Sur was the best start to our trip we could've hoped for! A good looking hostel equipped with everything we need and more. From the moment we arrived we've received nothing but smiles and kindness from the staff! When we turned to them for help, not only did they help us, they did everything possible to make sure we're pleased and accommodated, to the extent of upgrading our room! I highly recommend this place!!

Quiet for a hostel, it’s not a party place, just nice and chill. The wifi was great and reached everywhere. The reception staff were awesome and very helpful! The bathrooms were well cleaned every day and the staff even re-made my bed and folded my pj’s, very sweet :) Out of the activities I joined: Mate Meeting with Guido - was fun and a great way to meet people. Free walking tour of La Boca with Nico - the most informed tour guide I’ve ever had, he made the tour relevant and funny and there’s an option to go on another tour that afternoon, this one is paid (not much, like $12Aud) and takes you to all the local spots. I highly recommend!

The whole house smells really bad, due to high humidity. The room smelled even worse. On our second day we knew why, it was a rainy day and it dropped from the ceiling into the hotel. We were lucky that it didn't rain into our room, but there were other guests asking for other rooms because their room was too wet. Unfortunately the other rooms they offered them were worse. Avoid this place!

Great hostel, the best I'd been in South America. Loved the Rooftop vibe at the end of the day with everybody chilling after a day exploring the city! Awesome place for solo travelers. Staff was very helpful and many thanks for your tips!
