"A nearby theme-park destination that caters to families with everything from Sesame Street–themed rides for little ones to adrenaline-pumping attractions for thrill-seekers, including Europe’s fastest roller coaster, the 112-mile-per-hour Red Force." - Lauren Dana Ellman Lauren Dana Ellman Lauren Dana Ellman is a New York-based writer and editor who specializes in travel, lifestyle, food, and shopping content. 6 Best Day Trips from Barcelona, and the Itinerary to Know for Each | Condé Nast Traveler

"Tarragona’s PortAventura World is the where for the scares. Think of it as Spain’s take on Disney: heavy on the cheesy branding, extortionately priced food, but a really, really good time. No ageism here. Three rides top the thrill bill: Furius Baco, a catapult that flings you 135km/h in three seconds; Shambhala, a 76-meter-high rollercoaster; and Hurakan Condor, a pole that sends you plummeting, stomach-in-mouth, on a 100-meter freefall. But the newest attraction, which opened in June 2023, is Uncharted: The Enigma of Penitence. Inspired by the Uncharted movie (an action-adventure starring Tom Holland and Antonio Banderas), it takes place indoors, in pitch black, and uses audio-visuals to immerse you in its fantasy land. As for the physical journey? Brace yourself for a 150-meter freefall, as well as Europe’s first sideways drop." - Gemma Askham,Jessica Benavides Canepa

We, family of 4 (with an 8 and a 3 yo) were nicely surprised by this amusement park. We went in November during All Saints holidays and there was hardly any waiting time at the rides. Staff was really well made up for Halloween event, and the park was really nicely decorated. The only minor thing to improve would be to put a sign on the parking lot to remind people that it is forbidden to bring food and drinks to the park. An amazing experience to repeat longer next time!

Great experience for both adults and kids (8/10 y). We arrived on Saturday and stayed until Tuesday. A little bit crowded for top attractions but in 2 day we can touch them all. We had also checked at their hotel and I would strongly recommend, as you have 30min in advance exclusivity to the park in the morning before opening hours

Amazing and very large park. If you want to ride all the thrill rides then you have to buy the express pass. Otherwise you have to stay in lines for hours and you will be absolutely disappointed and same goes for ferrari land. Buy the express pass before visiting because they will sell out fast even on weekdays.

We visited this park during half term after a recommendation from friends. We stayed on site at Hotel Gold River (see separate review). Over all we enjoyed this park as a stop gap from our summer visits to florida. Pros Great themeing in the park. The park is well laid out and themed throughout. It is easy to find your way around. There are numerous food and drinks stalls and the prices are reasonable when compared to a UK theme park. Our favorite ride was Shambhala with the shortest queues being in the morning at opening and then at night. The water rides rarely had queues over 30 minutes. We visited over Halloween and the scare zone was a nice addition. For the evening parade / show we paid €9 each for priority seating which included a drink, this was definitely worth it. Cons Smoking in the park. As frequent visitors to florida parks and UK theme parks we found this really unpleasant. Smoking seems to be accepted in most areas of the park, including queues and eating areas. It made for an overall unpleasant smell. With the exception of Shambhala the rollercoaster type rides are rough. Furious Baco, Dragon Khan, Tomahawk, El Diablo. All almost gave us concussion....one ride each per day was enough. As our 1st visit to a theme park in Europe we enjoyed it, but made us want to rebook Florida!

Fantastic day out. Not been here since 2013, so 12 years on from then. We will be doing Ferrari Land another day before we leave the town. Since working out and becoming a bit wider in certain areas, I don’t fit on some of the rides. Due to the narrow bucket seats. Not a problem, but could do with a tester seat at some of the longer wait rides, so that the ride doesn’t get held up by not fitting in. Overall, very clean and enjoyable day.

Nice theme park very spacious and organised. Very long queues and sometimes the rides get out off order due technical problems ( happened with us in several of them ) Food are overpriced for the quality and quantity and they charge a fee for the cup all the time . The shows are good decoration amazing area clean and organised. Worth a visit but you need to have patience for queues in every were

We have been to this theme park several times before. It is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year (2025), and it is still good value for money. Some restaurants were closed, but there was enough to cater for the number of visitors. All the staff were friendly and the longest ride queue was 40 minutes. The light show at the end was amazing.

The best theme park in Europe, my favorite place on Earth! However, it has a few problems that must be considered before booking tickets/stays: - Waiting times are long, you should definitely plan on spending more than one day, or buy an Express Pass. - Food and drinks are extremely expensive. If you stay at one of the hotels, consider bringing your water and also some snacks. Now for the positives: - Best rollercoasters in Europe, and some special and brutal rides as well - Beautiful themed decorations and shows - The hotels are amazing, and a very good deal (considering the quality of the rooms and the fact that they include tickets to the park) Wish I could give it 10 stars, but it's not perfect (for now). I hope you enjoy it, and don't forget the sunscreen!
