Nice place on Porthgwidden Beach, had a lovely table with a beautiful view of the beach and beyond. Apart from the burger which looked dry and overcooked the food was pretty good and served generous portions. The service was OK, nothing special and felt a bit rushed to get us to leave after we just finished our meal. A bit of improvement around service and teach the kitchen how to make a decent burger then they’ll be on to a winner!

Fantastic beach side - more than a cafe - serving lovely food. Very friendly and welcoming. We had a selection of dishes - Crab Taco, Garlic Prawns, Mussels with fries and beautifully soft bread and really creamy butter!

The reason why is just one star for food is because we get squid rings which we paid £8.95…shocking, we got also burgers which was brilliant, perfect . You can see it in the picture. That was from takeaway

I was really debating between four and five stars on this one though in the end I chose the latter. The reason is that in my opinion food is the most impactful on a review. Though over all the staff was lovely and had a nicely themed environment. The lady who served me was extremely friendly and polite. For example we were all planning on getting a crab sandwich with I side of chips but she informed us that the crab sandwich would already have a small portion of chips instead of just letting us buy extra which of course would result in a higher cost. Overall very nice place definitely would come again.

Well .. it was our 1st wedding anniversary & needless to say we had to go back to where we had our wedding breakfast mealy , only the two of us instead of the 3o one year ago this time round .. & what a joy ( cheaper too , lol ) , great views just as before & made relaxed .. quick catch up with 'Will' (plus others)
& food ordered , service although a different waitress was second to none .. amazing food & 1st steak since being in town for the week , excellent perfectly cook & the lemon sole too .
Wined Dined & Reminisced , fab evening & we'll be going back for sure ... why shouldn't we the food alone is enough.

The restaurant is lovely, tucked away down a side street by the beach with sea views, and staff were friendly. But the food was absolutely disappointing. We ordered the chicken burger and the beef burger and both tasted like ultra processed frozen food. The chicken was a flat dry nugget and the beef was disgusting. We thought it was not worth complaining as the place was busy and we were in a hurry. I rarely make reviews but thought this one is worth the warning- definitely would not recommend.

We had fabulous welcome at this great cafe restaurant overlooking Porthgwidden beach. It was a busy evening. After being seated we noticed a couple leaving a table with a sea view and when we asked they were more than happy to have it prepared and move us over. The meal was superb. We have to say, the service and genuine interest shown to us during our visit was outstanding. This was our last evening in St Ives and Porthgwidden Cafe was the icing on the cake. Very many thanks to Claire, Ruby and Millie for giving us a fabulous evening to remember. Your people skills and nothing-too-much-trouble attitude is a credit to you all! See you next year.

Friendly helpful staff. Delish half lobster, they had purchased that afternoon from St Austell, fresh, tasty, garlicky, perfectly cooked, served with lots of lots of crispy chips and small salad. View of Portgwidden beach, glass of cold white wine. Just right! Would defo return.

Yelp
Really pleasant restaurant overlooking the scenic beach. I came in for dinner and had excellent fish & chips. My very kind server had a large table of twelve jolly regulars to deal with (and from their chatter it was clear that they come here for celebrations, which is telling) but I was never ignored. I had flourless chocolate torte for dessert with a gigantic dollop of the smoothest clotted cream I've ever had. They're open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a takout window facing the beach. And although they have quite a bit of outdoor seating, the generously-windowed dining rooms are where it's at.

Yelp
Excellent food and service combined with a great view make for a five stars review. I had Thai fish curry which was delicious and beautifully presented. My wife chose traditional fish and chips - it was cooked to perfection. Tip: book a table inside for the best views.

Yelp
Great location overlooking the golden sand of the small beach and the green headlands. Sheltered sunny outdoor area. Just had tea and yummy moist polenta cake, but the menu looked fresh and interesting. Lots of seafood. Would be a gorgeous to have dinner and wine at sunset

Yelp
This is now sister to the excellent Porthminster Cafe. It's in an excellent spot, in a little cove overlooking the lighthouse at Godrevy. A recent lunch of whole sea bass for her, and crab, mussels and chilli linguine for me, was perfect seaside gastronomy. Both mains were £12.95. They also do an excellent Polgoon rose (a local champagne-style wine made from apple and strawberry). We've eaten here several times, and never been disappointed. Service is friendly.

Yelp
I have been here quite frequently. The food has always been spot on but the kitchen closes early at about 3pm even on busy days in the summer with people enjoying the beach until early afternoon. If you arrive only one minute later than 3pm be prepared to be 'told off' about the kitchen being closed now and that no food will be served any more in an unfriendly way. I used to recommend this restaurant to friends but do not do it any more because there are some more hospitable restaurants in St Ives. Only two stars because of a lack of customer service and friendliness.

Yelp
What a view and with great food to match. The crab salad with seared scallops was absolutely divine and washed down with a delicious crisp rose rioja. Overall well priced for good quality food and service. The window seat is the best but all tables have a good view!
