"A classic, touristy spot celebrated for its Italian beef sandwich and quirky atmosphere; still considered worth a visit for the signature sandwich experience despite the crowds." - Trav

I have never been to a Portillo’s before but I was pleasantly surprised with my recent visit. This Chicago-style street food restaurant is fantastic! I ordered the Char Grilled Maxwell Street Polish Sausage and it was simply amazing. The flavor combinations were spot on and absolutely delicious. The French fries were cooked to perfection, perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Everything came out quickly, and the workers were both friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. I also really enjoyed the atmosphere here. The dining room is huge and the vibe made me feel like I had stepped out of town and into an authentic Chicago street food spot. Overall, this place nails it with great food, fast service, and a fun environment. I can’t wait to come back and bring the whole family!

Google
We’re from Chicago, so no strangers to Portillo’s. Love their Italian beefs, but the prices keep going up and the size goes down. It cost $31 for 2 combo meals (one of them hot dogs, so a bit less), regular size—no upgrades. The Italian beefs are looking kind of pitiful now: where’s the beef??

Stephen C.

Google
Italian Combo = to die for! Every single item we ordered was great. There were seven of us and yes my wallet hurt, lol but it was well worth it. Staff was professional and the restaurant was very clean. Definitely a family friendly place.

Google
First time trying Portillo's and I get why they were packed. The sandwich was great. Glad I added the hot peppers and got extra gravy. I will be back to try the cake.

Google
It’s Portillo‘s. That’s almost all that needs to be said. Everything here is fantastic. If you’ve never been here, get the Italian beef sandwich with hot and sweet peppers, dipped. I wish this location still had the ribs and the tamales. I hear that those are mostly only in the Chicago stores where I grew up.

Del C.

Google
Fast, easy, affordable and very tasty. Loved the Chicago Hot Dog. You guys need a location in Vegas. This is better than anything we have currently. I enjoyed the comfortable and spacious dining area.

Brad B.

Google
The food is good, but they NEVER EVER EVER put the size of the hot dog on the wrapper. We have to open everything up at the office, and try to figure out which ones are the large ones, or the regular size, and NO... it isn't that easy. Everyone over here gets mad because it is just a mess on the desk trying to size them, and it just takes the fun out of eating. It is just sad! Puhleeze just mark them and make your customers feel loved rather than abused, and now I'm a bad guy for offering to buy lunch at Portillos....thanks

Google
Portillos is one of my favorite places to eat. Their Italian Beef’s sandwiches are huge and so tasty. I love their desserts too. The strawberry shortcake is my favorite. Highly recommended

Yelp
While visiting town my uncle suggested to come by Portillos. Glad that we did. I recommend signing up for the rewards before even ordering. We ended up getting bogo Italian beef our first trip along with free fries. We had enough fries to feed a herd of folks. The service was very quick which was nice with employees who were more than willing to answer questions. The overall simple feel was easy casual and welcoming to whoever you are. I didn't try the hot dogs the round but I'd love to try next time.

Yelp
After learning that the Chandler location isn't yet opened, we already had beef sandwich and hot dog on the brain so we ventured over to the Tempe location. I'm in love with their beef sandwich, dipped...which creates a soggy but oh so craveable! I typically get the Big Beef and I don't care for the added stuff so it's just meat, bread, and dip for this girl! Wife loves their Chicago dogs (typically gets two) and we also love their onion rings...perfect so that when you bite into one, the whole onion doesn't come sliding out. And their fries, we typically ask for them well done, extra crispy. It's the season for their Pumpkin Spice Cake so we splurged on a slice to share. Busy as typical and we sat out on the patio this evening. NOTE: Unfortunately this location isn't dog friendly but when we stopped at the Chandler location, the manager said their patio would be dog friendly. We hope this is true and wondered by one location would be ok and the other wouldn't. We'll see!

Yelp
Portillo's is always a fun stop for classic Chicago-style comfort food. From the Italian beef to the Chicago dogs, everything on the menu is top-tier and packed with flavor. The staff is friendly and efficient, and I appreciate that they've modernized the experience with ordering kiosks--no long lines, no stress (and boomers can still order with a person if they get confused by newfangled technology). The 1950s décor and music aren't really my style (the confused boomers like it), but it's part of the Portillo's brand charm. Between the great food, good service, and even a few draft beers on tap, this place consistently delivers a great experience.

Yelp
Food - Italian beef sandwich. The inside of the bread got soggy because I got the peppers in my sandwich. I wish there was a way on the kiosk to ask for the peppers on the side. I thought the Italian beef sandwich with peppers had a better flavor than the version without peppers and the sandwich wasn't too salty. The bread had a nice spongy texture to it, except for the soggy part. The beef had some fatty pieces, which I didn't like. Atmosphere - Very very very noisy. I had to make a phone call and I bet the person I was calling could hear all the noise. When they announce the numbers for you to pick up your food, it is also announced outside. The numbers aren't announced in order. There is sign that states as such inside. I think they use a random number generator when an order gets placed. No strange or strong odors or smells. I did not visit the restroom. It was extremely busy inside. The outside was empty due to the excessive heat of 115 and 116 degrees lately. Service - I ordered at a kiosk. It printed a receipt at the end of the order The receipt had a number on it. I waited at pick up with others for my number to get called. I picked my order up and left. The service here was quick. They forgot to put my gravy on the side. I only realized after I got home. Order and pay at the counter or kiosk. Self seating. Parking - Surface parking lot. No parking meter or parking structures. They should really have covered parking with solar panels or trees due to how hot It is in Arizona. Unique - I think the kiosks to self order are unique, but i like how ubiquitous they are becoming. I like to order on my own via the kiosk. Did not see a health rating on Yelp. Seemed clean and organized when I visited Despite all the people there.

Yelp
Clean can I meet unique looking place Sadly, the food is just not up to standards. We got like a Philly but they call it a beef sandwich dripping with grease. We could not eat it not dog was just a hot dog. Nothing special Chicago style. It has computer screens up the front says order here after going through it all For 10 minutes looking for beer we find out you can't order beer off of it. You have to go up to the front and order your whole order that would've been nice to know as the lady upfront is a standing there looking just disinterested in being here

Yelp
First time for me! My husband finally got me here! Dining in!! Woohoo. We ordered from the Kiosk. Super easy. Didn't realize that you can go to the end and order with a real person. Ordered the chili dog and fries. I love how the person that was calling out the numbers was using comedy! Drink fountains were loaded with great choices. Fries and onion rings were awesome. Place was spotless and the ladies that were cleaning them were in top of it! Fun place!!

Yelp
Portillo's is one of the most enjoyable meals of all time. I'm so impressed with the food quality, taste, and flavor. The dog is eye rolling, the sausage had a snap, juicy, and packed with flavor. If you like caramelized onions, make sure you add them to the dog. The sausage to bun ratio is like no other. Onion rings were crispy and what I expected. The chili fries were nothing to write home about, I love the plain fries. I went back the next day, placed an order in the app for a 10:00am pick up, right at opening, and wow, my order was ready at 10:02. Amazing service.

Yelp
My spouse is from Minnesota and he is absolutely in love with this chain restaurant. He was so excited to see one while we were on vacation in Arizona. Thankfully, they were open Easter Sunday. We came here on a Sunday morning about 10:30 AM. It was pretty empty, but started to quickly fill up. You can place your order at the kiosk and then they will call your number at the counter. He had his usual sandwich and I decided to try the chili dog. we did place our order to eat in. I was disappointed that they rolled up the hot dog instead of just serving it on a tray. By the time I unrolled the hotdog, it was a smashed mess. My spouse said that other locations usually did not do that. The hotdog was good, but maybe in the future if people are dining in, they could be better about the food handling. The decor of the restaurant was very cool. It definitely had a throwback vibe to it. There are bits of history about the restaurant chain all over, including photographs. They even have their own merchandise that you can take home.

Yelp
First time at this Portillo's in Tempe but I've been to three other locations. I brought a friend this time. We arrived at 12:30 and it was busy, as Portillo's always has been. I ordered a Maxwell Street Polish, rings and a large drink while my son-in-law got a number 1 combo, the Italian Beef, fries and a drink. Our order came up in about 7-8 mins, hot and ready. My Polish was excellent, with mustard and big pieces of chopped, grilled onions. The rings were crispy, full of onion goodness and cooked perfectly. My son-in-law wasn't overly impressed with the sandwich. I think he wished he hadn't asked for it dipped, cuz he struggled to negotiate it. I'll call that operator error. There also wasn't enough jardiniere. We both agreed that Portillo's isn't a place to drive 30 minutes to eat but, if you're in the neighborhood, it's fine.
google avatar

Ava M.

Yelp
I think the atmosphere of this place was amazing, jazzy music from the 70s, beautiful restaurant design, definitely a throwback to old diners. The real problem I had with this place, though, was the food. The fries were alright, and the chicken tenders weren't terrible, but I do have something to say about the chicken sandwich. When I first took a bite into it, I'm not even joking when I say a drop of who knows what fell from it. It wasn't sauce, it was like a juice from the chicken. I tried to convince myself it was just juicy, but no, it was soaked, I couldn't even finish it. The servers were nice, and we got our food in a decent amount of time. I just can't believe I put that in my mouth, I felt like I was eating leftovers from a middle school culinary class. To whoever is in charge of this restaurant, I think it'd be better to focus on the quality of the food, than how the walls are decorated.

Yelp
I know it's a chain, but don't be bougie. Do you like good food or not? Seems like they've remodeled recently. Spacious and plentiful seating although parking can be a challenge. They have kiosks now, which I loathe, but you can still order from a nice human being at the counter. Great fries, good onion rings, and big menu. Chicago Dog and Chili Cheese Dog are high quality junk food. The Big Italian Beef sandwich is number one on their menu for a reason. Just beef, peppers, and gravy. Simple as it can be, but Delicious. That's Delicious with a Capital D, friends. No lowercase accepted. Get extra gravy and grab extra napkins. It comes in six and nine inch versions. Size matters, so you know which one to order. Don't be a sissy, you can handle it.

Yelp
My girlfriend had been wanting to try this place for several weeks so we decided to hit them up. I'd been here before but it's been many years ago so it was like I was a first timer. The service was really good, that I can say for sure. My Italian beef and Italian sausage Combo was not the best I've ever had but it was good. It was weird to me however, that they did not have provolone cheese. American, cheddar, and one other I don't remember but C'mon man, NO PROVOLONE for an Italian sandwich?! Anyway, my girlfriend said the Cheeseburger she got seemed to be a little over cooked, especially since she asked for medium but she said it was ok. The fries were good and the drinks were good. I know it's part of their atmosphere, but the way they call out that orders are ready makes for a bit of a chaotic feeling and it's just non stop. The little sayings they use are kinda funny but MAN, it's non stop. So I say MAYBE I'll recommend this place for now but I think we will take the kids soon and sole how they like it before I say yea or nea.

Kristina K.

Yelp
Pretty longer than usual wait time. But ok nonetheless. I tried to be heathy and try their chicken Cesar salad. Some of the leaves were brown and rotten. I ate some of it because I was starving but it was very mediocre. It was McDonalds level quality. For the price that was disappointing.
google avatar

Christopher C.

Yelp
I went to the drive thru to get lunch. They had a big sign advertising their milkshakes, so I decided to order one. Apparently, the same people that maintain the milkshake machines at McDonalds also maintain Portillo's. It wasn't working. So, I ordered a hot dog, fries and an iced tea. The hot dog was great (the only part of the meal that was). The fries were cold. The iced tea, sadly, wasn't. It was room temperature and there wasn't a single cube of ice in the cup. "Ice Tea" implies ICE in my book. Apparently, the ice machine and milkshake machine are linked somehow. I tried writing to corporate about this, but they don't care enough to respond. Very disappointing - will not be returning.

Marc W.

Yelp
Food is not horrible, basic fast food. The experience is chaotic and a little messy. Constant screaming over the intercom, filthy crap hanging from the ceiling - and that's the "Portillo's experience ". Look at the tablecloth before you sit at a table, many of the tablecloths have food waste and grime build-up on the sides.

Yelp
Hey Pulse listeners and fellow foodies! Lance Reece here with another mouthwatering installment of Lunch with Lance. This time, we brought a little slice of the Windy City right into the desert. Our stop? The iconic Portillo's Hot Dogs in Tempe, AZ. If you're craving authentic Chicago-style food in Arizona or just scoping out top Tempe restaurants with an old-school American vibe, you'll want to stick around for this one. Walking into Portillo's feels like stepping into a time machine headed straight for a busy Chicago street corner. Vintage signs, lively décor, and the mouthwatering scent of grilled dogs and slow-cooked beef fill the air. I rolled in with my usual lunch crew: Michael Mallace and Brandon Neyenhuis, ready to dive into some serious comfort food. Let's talk about my order first. I went with their famous Italian beef sandwich, but kicked it up a notch with The Leo style. That means it's dipped in rich, savory gravy and loaded with sweet and hot peppers. Every bite was juicy, bold, and full of that unmistakable Chicago flavor. It's messy in the best possible way and totally worth it. Michael, a true hot dog purist, went classic with the Chicago dog. This beauty came topped with all the traditional fixings: mustard, onions, neon green relish, tomato, sport peppers, a pickle spear, and a dash of celery salt, all cradled in a poppy seed bun. That satisfying snap? He confirmed it was spot on. Meanwhile, Brandon went for something simple but solid. He ordered the chicken tenders, which are golden, crispy, and juicy inside. Comfort food done right. We barely scratched the surface of Portillo's menu. Between the sizzling charbroiled burgers and the eye-catching trays flying out of the kitchen, there's plenty more to try on our next visit. But if there's one more thing you have to order, it's the chocolate cake shake. Yes, they blend an actual slice of chocolate cake into a creamy milkshake. And yes, it's as insanely delicious as it sounds. Let's cut to the chase. After a full round of taste-testing, the entire Lunch with Lance crew agreed on one thing: Portillo's Hot Dogs is a certified GRUB. From the energetic atmosphere to the bold, authentic flavors, this place brings Chicago heart and flavor straight to Tempe. It delivers consistently on quality, taste, and fun, making it a standout among Tempe food spots. That's why we're proud to officially stamp it as LWL Certified, our seal of approval for restaurants that truly hit the mark. So grab your crew, bring your appetite, and head to a Portillo's near you in Tempe, Scottsdale, Glendale, Gilbert, Avondale, Surprise and Queen Creek. And when you go, tell them Lance and The Pulse sent you. Want more local food reviews and tasty spots around the Valley? Yelp
Pregnancy cravings came in hot--and this place came through! I'd been eyeing their cheese fries nonstop on my Facebook feed and finally gave in. The fries were perfectly crispy and not greasy at all, and the side of cheese sauce? Rich, creamy, and so satisfying for dipping. I also tried the chili cheese dog, and it was delicious--packed with hearty chili, fresh onions, melty cheese, and visible beans that gave it that homemade feel. My husband grabbed a chocolate malt and some fries of his own and was just as impressed. This spot brought back childhood memories, and I'm happy to say it still hits the mark. Can't wait to go back for round two!2

Yelp
Love coming here for lunch and dinner. Quality is always consistent and good. I got the plant-based garden dog and a chocolate cake shake, both of which were really good. Staff was friendly and service was timely enough. There is seating inside of the restaurant that has a nice 50's vibe that would be nice to sit with friends and family and enjoy a meal with.
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
Almost as good as its main Chicago locations, and I say that because I grew up in Chicago, my favorite thing to get is a hot dog ( everything on it) with a large cheese fries and strawberry shake! My other favorite is a double cheeseburger. The salads are really good too. Can't go wrong with a chocolate cake slice either. Service is fast and reliable. Everything is clean, especially for a busy Tempe marketplace. Very family friendly very casual, very different than someplace like McDonald's.
google avatar

Jaquay R.

Yelp
I hosted my ministry team appreciation lunch here on Saturday and it was a fun time. The atmosphere was lively and I was able to rearrange the table and chairs as needed for my group. I got everyone gift cards to order what they wanted and we all enjoyed beef sandwiches, hot dogs, maxwell street polish, fish sandwich, lettuce wrapped burger, fries and onion rings. The staff was great. The one person that stood out was Barbara. As I was preparing to move the table and chairs back to their respective places, Barbara kindly insisted that she would do it. She told us to enjoy the rest of our afternoon and she would take care of it. Thanks Barabara!

Yelp
Always love Portillo's. Second visit to this location. The #1 dipped with mozzarella cheese and hot peppers is my go-to sandwich. I could probably get the regular fries instead of the large, but they're really good. Onion rings are tasty too. You order at iPads now, and my receipt came out blank, so I didn't know my order number. Luckily they figured out which one was mine, gave me a new number, and all was right with the world. Not sure when I'll be back down in Tempe again, but I will definitely be back. Hard to see a Cubs game in Mesa without getting Portillo's first.
google avatar

Yelp
Food is good, as long as they do t mess up your order! Ordered a #2 meal which comes with two hot dogs, drink and fries then two additional hot dogs separately. They said they didn't get the drink with the order...? Hmm it's part the meal. So really? The girl who was giving me my order said the drink as not included. So I paid for a meal but didn't get a drink and she argued with me. So I suggest you train your employees as to what an actual meal has included! Terrible experience and will not go back.

Yelp
Welp Yelpers... no surprise that after Dick sold out this was gonna become a corporate cash grab. The moat* has officially been drained. They replaced staff with kiosks that are glitchy and I still had to go through the line to fix my issue. Never thought I'd miss the mile long line! To the worst part? The quality food is also a thing of the past. My big beef was just a regular beef on a bigger bun. The cheese and giardiniera was haphazardly thrown on and only covered the middle portion of the sandwich. Then they wrapped it like a gringo rolls a burrito and missed the juice proof baggie by a mile. (End of sandwich was cold and exposed, juices leaked through the bag) That's three strikes. Epic fail! *Read "Out of the Dog House" by Dick Portillo for details on "the moat." Don't actually buy it. Download from zLibrary or something. Dick is a billionaire, he won't miss the royalties!
google avatar

Kirk H.

Yelp
Generally off of my beaten path, but now I'm sorry that I waited so long. I got a Maxwell St Polish. Grilled over coals, lots of mustard and sweet grilled onions. I'm probably better off that this is out-of-the-way for me, or I'd be 20 pounds heavier.
google avatar

Crystal Z.

Yelp
This was my 1st time ever trying Portillo's and it didn't disappoint. We tried 2 of the new salads--the spicy chopped salad and the pecan salad and both were DELICIOUS. Very large portion. Served with fresh bread. I also tried the double cheeseburger, Chicago dog with everything on it, beef dipped sweet and hot with everything on it and OMG WOW!!! My friend ordered the strawberry lemon cake shake and was able to try and it was yummy! The service was great and efficient. They did forget my 2 salads initially but were able to whip them up quickly. The ambiance was warm and welcoming inside. I will definitely be back! A must try.

Yelp
Everything was great...The service, beef sandwich and tasty char grilled burgers..40+ years eating Portillos..

Yelp
First of all the hotdog tasted like it was boiling for a week straight all the toppings were disgusting. I literally threw up, not even 20 minutes after leaving the establishment. It was the most terrible food I have ever had in my life. This establishment needs to be burned down. I am tired of this shit. I literally got sick 20 minutes after leaving the building. They need to immediately clean washed their hands. I don't know what they need to do but the hotdog dog tasted like human. It was disgusting. I did not appreciate this service and I spent almost $20 on two hotdog a whack ass hotdogs fries and a lame ass soft drink. and if you go to this establishment, you clearly don't know what good food is. It smelled incredibly suspicious in there

Yelp
I frequent this location next to Tempe Marketplace often because it is close to home. My first Portillo's experience was actually in Chicago. I remember trying my first Chicago-style dog and really enjoying it. Ever since my first trip to the Windy City back in 2012, Portillo's locations have been popping up all over the Valley. We have a lot of people from Chicago that live here and lately AZ has become home to many of their restaurants. This Tempe Portillo's is just a mile drive from the Cub's spring training facility Sloan Park. Portillo's started out in the early 60's as a hot dog stand called the "The Dog House". There are lots of photos on the wall that pay homage to their early days. Besides their hot dogs, I love the Italian Beef with Peppers, Onion Rings, Broiled Chicken Sandwich and the Chocolate Cake Shake. But it doesn't matter what I like. My buddies from Chicago are opinionated and will always tell me what I should and shouldn't be ordering. I'm just glad we get a little taste of Chicago here in the Valley. When the employees call your number, they like to do it in a rhyme over the microphone. This location also has a drive-thru.
google avatar

Heather M.

Yelp
Although salad is not my top reason for a visit to Portillo's, these are great salads. Generously proportioned, fresh ingredients and crisp greens. My guy got the chicken pecan salad with bacon but swapped honey mustard dressing for vinaigrette, which he liked a lot. I had the Greek salad with chicken and it was very tasty. I'd have liked more feta but the salad had lots of Kalamata olives and a nice balance of other ingredients. These salads both came with a full chicken breast, which was great and filling. Neither of us could finish the full serving! Although I'm a sucker for their beef sandwiches, we both agreed that next time we would split a salad and a sandwich since the salads were so big. Thanks, Yelp, for introducing us to these new menu items!

Yelp
Retro cute burger diner vibes with lots of seating and drive thru option! Everything was clean and the food was really good! Exactly what you expect when you go to a burger joint. The staff was friendly too. High chairs available and indoor/outdoor options.
google avatar

Paul C.

Yelp
When I saw this driving by, I did a double take - can't be... THE Chicago Portillo's??? Sure enough, they've made the trek to AZ and now there's one in Tucson as well!!! I'm not sure what to do with the bread, other than ask for them to hollow most of it out, but worth the diabetic disaster for a treat! The beef, cheese and those peppers, it's about the closest thing to happiness on a bun you can hope for. I may need to go for lunch today...
google avatar

Jolie F.

Yelp
This place brings back great memories with my family in Chicagoland! This restaurant is a staple in Chicagoland for Vienna beef sandwiches, hot dogs (beef), fries, chocolate cake and more! They even use buns from Chicago, Sam Rosen. For non meat eaters, you can get salads and fish sandwiches. Get the chocolate cake: super moist! So when you are missing Chicagoland in Arizona, drop in for some classic fast food here.
google avatar

Shareen S.

Yelp
I finally got to try Portillo's! I was impressed with the chicken tenders and enjoyed them with ranch and cheese dip. They are really good! I tried the jumbo beef hot dog but it had too many toppings which made the bun soggy. Orders are taken at the register and collected from the pickup window. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available. I would have probably enjoyed a beef italian sandwich more. There are so many options to choose from and I would go back to try something different next time. There is also a drive-thru at this location.
google avatar

Laura O.

Yelp
They have these new order machines when you first come in. I used them for the first time, super easy to do. They also have cashiers there too. Food was awesome and place was clean.

Yelp
PLEASE STOP EXPANDING. This place used to be so good. I've been to a few locations in Chicago before they came to Arizona, so I know what's it's supposed to taste like. In Arizona. I've mainly eaten at the Tempe McClintock but have been to other valley locations. As they've built numerous locations around the valley, they've made it less desirable and the demand isn't there for this many restaurants. It used to be such a treat for my daughter and I if I were near Portillos and would pick it up for us on our way home. Now, they're everywhere. Also, there is no reason to cook and box 20 orders of Fry's (with way too much salt on them) waiting for someone to order fries. Honestly this has always been an issue at this restaurant but now that the number of customers is spread amongst the many locations, old fries are often the case when eating at portillos. The hamburgers are always cold but I've put up with it over the years because the meat and char is so good that I can still enjoy them. I can't imagine what a fresh hamburger would taste like at Portillos. The meat in our dipped sandwich's tonight was inedible. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE STOP EXPANDING.

Yelp
This place is so huge on the inside! When you walk in, they have DoorDash/Uber eats/mobile order pickup on the left, along with their bar and alcohol options. To order, you need to walk straight to the back and go through the line of rope to the cash register. The cashier was friendly, he was a young boy. He got my order right, and the wait was only about 5 or so minutes for a cheeseburger and fries. This was around 7:30 pm on Valentine's Day, for reference. My fries were yummy, they were crinkle cut. The small is pretty adequate in size, not going to lie. They don't have a medium option so I was deciding whether to spend the extra 70¢ or so for a large, but I was satisfied with my decision. My friend got a 4 piece chicken tender and onion rings. Her chicken strips were HUGE, we both thought they put extra in but nope, they're just very large. All their tables are 4-person, we searched for a smaller one but couldn't find one. They all have picnic table-esque tablecloths on them, which is of a thick plastic consistency. The place is pretty clean, as a few workers came by asking to take our trays, wiping down nearby tables, taking out the trash, etc. The inside is so unique and different from any restaurant you'll normally go to. It's a bit vintage, and I know all the older folks are laughing at me calling it "vintage." What I mean, is that it has an older feel to it. I wish I took more photos of the decor inside. Definitely stop by if you have never been, it's fairly inexpensive and a cute dinner date idea!

Yelp
Friendly and helpful workers. Fast paced and loud setting. Had the Italian beef w cheese and hot peppers. (.75 for each add-on) So very tasty. My only issue is that the bread gets soggy and I just can't do that texture. I will try another option next time. Parking not too fun but ray to find and right off freeway.

Yelp
There's just no better fast food on earth. I ordered an Italian beef with cheddar, sweet peppers, and hot giardiniera. It's simply one of the best sandwiches in the world. Juicy but not soggy, enough heat to wake you up without being overwhelming. And for good measure, a Chicago hot dog with all the toppings; hey, it seemed like a fitting dessert. Give me that over chocolate cake any day! Of course, we split the large crinkle cut fries and they tasted hot and crispy with still enough chew on the inside. I only wish there were other condiments available besides ketchup. The parking is really tight, and it's a one way lot, so be careful if you're not familiar with it. I purchased an extra jar of hot giardiniera to go; sadly, I would leave it behind in my hotel room. Bad job my me.

Yelp
Stop by for a beef and cheddar croissant. A favorite of mine. Well, poorly done here. Beef was barely warm - could tell be the cheese not melted (yuck) and DRY. The croissant was good but dry cool beef does not melt the cheese. Staff always friendly. Fries were warmer than the beef, but there were a lot in the warming rack. Disappointing for sure.

Yelp
Was chosen by yelp to try out Portillos for the treat o clock event. I was unable to get off, but the drive thru was a great experience. It was fast, and pleasant. The drive thru employees were pleasant, greeted me and First of love the variety menu options, they have burgers, fries. I had never been to portillos and always find myself driving past them. I had no idea portillos had salads. I tried the spicy chicken chopped salad. I made the mistake of not asking what was on it, as it has blue cheese with a Diet Coke. Overall my salad even with the blue cheese was a 3/5, large portions, with great ingredients: jalapeños, tomatoes, pasta, and house dressing. The price prior to checking out was $16.30$ (kind of pricey, but not bad if you're sharing).

Yelp
This is a great place for families. There is something for everyone! I had the spicy chicken salad, it had just the right amount of spice. The salad comes with bread and butter which was a nice touch. They have a seasonal lemon cake and strawberry lemon cake shake. I will be back to try both!

Yelp
It was time for a beef. Although I wish there were more mom and pop beef joints like in Chicago, Portillos can fill the void. And they did a good job today. I've had issues with others in different locations, but they acquitted themselves well today. The beef was flavorful, the bread perfect, properly dipped, and the hot peppers topped it off perfectly. The onion rings were some of the best I've had. The fries were ok. Employee Rachel is a real treasure. Promote her.

Yelp
The hotdogs are so good, the snap is amazing and the bun is nice and soft. The chocolate shake is just so fudgy and milk chocolatey and delicious, same thing with the slice of chocolate cake. Fluffy was right when he talked about it in one of his specials on Netflix. The shake is delicious but honestly I think I'd rather just go for the cake instead next time. Ambiance is somewhat dark, but it didn't help we were there at night. Highly recommend Portillo's!

Yelp
Very happy with our order, time, quality of food, & environment. Lunch time was insanely packed. Update 9/2. Evening was pretty much empty. Parking lot is setup in the oddest configuration. Plenty of seats, however, I saw what a lunch time occupancy was like, so be warned, all of those seats are very much needed, so plan wisely. Update 2024: Quick in and out, delicious as usual. Dine in Dinner $10-20 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

Yelp
Came with friends for lunch. Had a craving for hot dogs. Place was packed. Wife ordered the chili dog and I had the Maxwell polish with onions and a couple of drinks from soda fountain. Thought it came with fries but found out you have to order them separately which I did. We thought the food was just so so, not terrible but not great. Fries were cold and tasted like cardboard. I don't think we will return. !

Yelp
Oh Portillo's - you made this Chicago girl giddy! Sooo many delicious childhood memories being taken to Portillo's.... The chocolate cake, the sesame seed buns, the *vibe* that just can't be beat. We moved away from Illinois when I was younger and I haven't had the pleasure since. We recently flew in to Phoenix and the Tempe location was our first stop. It was like going back in time!!! This location looks exactly like the one I grew up going to 25-30 years ago. My mouth watered as soon as I walked in and my eyes might have, too! It was so fun giving my husband and kids a Chicago dog experience, the glorious loaded italian beef, sinfully delicious chocolate cake, and ohhhh the milkshake - pure delight! The Chicago decor and history was a blast to show the fam. Just wish there was a shirt in my size! The service was great, respectable prices, and boy am I glad I got to go! THANK YOU, Portillo's!!!

Yelp
Very poor service. Food is decent but not for the price. They have gotten my order wrong also.

Yelp
Got a combo sandwich and chili cheese fries from Uber Eats. No napkins or utensils and no Giardinia as requested. You guys can do better
