I had a really disappointing experience here. I bought a pair of black Blundstone winter boots for about $270 and discovered a large hole in the back of the left boot. When I brought them back on Sunday, December 14th, the employee I spoke with reacted coldly and didn’t apologize or offer a straightforward exchange or refund. Instead, she told me to keep the boots until a new shipment arrived and asked for my phone number, promising to call when they came in. I ended up returning on Wednesday, December 17th to request a refund. The employee who helped me that day was just as cold, though he processed the refund. Another staff member mentioned the shipment was expected on Friday, December 19th. Overall, the staff felt impatient, dismissive, and uninterested in helping. The lack of customer service gave me no reason to shop here again, and I can see why the store doesn’t get much foot traffic.

Poor service and hours of operation can vary on any given day. Often times I make the trip from out of town, to try pieces on, due to varying sizes between brands carried. The lack of responses on social media and web presence is horrendous. On numerous occasions, I’ve arrived 1hr to 30 mins before closing of posted hrs of operation and they have closed without notice. This is mildly irritating. I love supporting small business but this group creates challenges to do so. They do offer high quality products but that doesn’t matter if you have these obstacles in place for acquiring their pieces. They are also quite cold and snobby at times, by comparison to other shops 👎🏻

Drove from Nova Scotia to visit. Best selection of quality men’s clothing in Maine.

High-end boutique with curated selection of clothing, shoes, outerwear for all genders. I found it a quality blend of NYC fashion meets Fashionable Maine winter layers. I found a pair of socks and flannel shirt that I can wear to work in the city. Prices can easily get to $$$$ but to be expected with highest-tier of fashion.

My wife and I take an anniversary trip to Portland, Maine every year by and I always splurge at this shop for their high end men’s wear. Their staff is highly attentive to fit and extraordinarily helpful. I will always make an intentional effort to shop here when we visit - my only regret is that they don’t have more stores nationwide! Couldn’t recommend more highly enough!

Looking for high quality, well styled outdoor gear, they have it. Wide selection of Filison bags, shirts and other items. HH jackets as well. Prices are what you should expect with this level of quality. They even had a number of ‘fisherman’s sweaters’ from Ireland producers. Worth a stop.

Mixed Experience: Quality Products, Poor Service While the store offers quality products, my recent experience with their customer service was extremely disappointing. After purchasing an expensive item that was subsequently damaged, I attempted to replace it (my cost). The product was listed on their website with instructions to contact them via text or phone. I texted on a Saturday, no response; followed up on the next Wednesday morning and received a response that afternoon - I was told by the person responding they would check. Having heard nothing more, I followed up that Sunday with a text. No response. I called and left a voicemail message on Monday. No response. I texted again on Tuesday. Message received, no response... I'm loathe to leave a poor review for a business. I acknowledge that many customers likely have positive in-store experiences; I did. However, if reliable customer service/communications and after care is important to you, it's worth considering this as a cautionary tale.

I intentionally went to Portland Dry Goods today, November 28th, with my wife to completely redo my winter wardrobe. We browsed the store for about 10 minutes waiting for an employee to greet us…nothing. The store was not busy and the two guys behind the counter were chatting amongst themselves. We walked out and didn’t purchase a thing. The brand they carry are quality and the prices are high which I wouldn’t mind paying for if I felt there was any type of customer service. I will not return.
