"The Portland Harbor Hotel has undergone a major update since opening in 2002, giving it a decidedly more modern personality and nautical vibes. In keeping with the theme in the public spaces, guest rooms have a seafaring thing going on. This is a hotel to book if you want to be in the center of everything in Portland. It's in tourist central in the Old Port, which means you're just down the street from the city's best restaurants and bars." - Joe Ricchio, Alexandra Hall

"Why did this hotel catch your attention? The Portland Harbor Hotel has undergone a major update since opening in 2002, giving it a decidedly more modern personality with nautical vibes. Tell us about the rooms. Any tips on what to book?In keeping with the rest of the hotel, rooms here have a seafaring thing going on. Some have views of the city or garden, and all have comfy beds and linens. Glass-enclosed showers have granite tile work and suites have whirlpool tubs with built-in sound systems. Each floor has a breakfast nook featuring a touch-screen Starbucks coffee machine. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi?Wi-Fi is free. Drinking and dining—what are we looking at?Blue Fin Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner (and provides the room service); dishes include classics like oysters Rockefeller as well as strong original creations like lobster pappardelle with sage cream sauce. If you're looking for something al fresco, there are few better places to relax and sip cocktails than the garden patio. And the service? Staff is professional and accommodating; the concierge is particularly knowledgeable. What else is in the neighborhood? You're in the heart of the Downtown Old Port, just down the street from some of the city's best restaurants and bars. Bottom line: Why are we choosing the Portland Harbor Hotel? It's one of the better high-end hotels in the Old Port and its character shines through in a way it doesn't always at bigger chains." - Joe Ricchio

The hotel location was fantastic, centrally located and could walk anywhere. The hotel suite was so beautifully decorated. There were complimentary coffee, tea and cookies on each floor, which was a great touch. Moreover option to make hot coco which the kids really enjoyed and it was complementary. The lobby was beautiful and nicely decorated for the holidays. The only negative is the destination that get automatically added and upon check-in the front desk didn’t disclose it nor how to use, good thing i read their disclosure and we used it to purchase unnecessary items in their market otherwise would lose the $35 daily fees. Overall - we really enjoyed our stay there.

Excellent accommodations. Great little bar and outside area. Close to the waterfront and easily walkable to most bars and restaurants. Lots of shopping in the area. If you're in Portland, consider staying here. We had a great time and they offer afternoon tea and cookies as well as had a Christmas wrapping station.

Very well kept, clean and centrally located hotel. Staff was great & helpful, but still, severely understaffed. After traveling 6 hours to the hotel, called room service a few times - no answer. One time we got the front desk and he wasn't sure why the kitchen was not answering so we gave up. And they have a QR code "supposedly" for the room service menu - but no real access to an actual menu. A few times, no one in the lobby at all at night (gave me a security concern). Breakfast was good, not great (raw English muffin). They offer a nice deal on the $35 / night resort fee. You can have breakfast, room service, or some other hotel service applied to the resort fee. So we had breakfast for about 65 dollars (we figured 2 x $35 / night resort fee is $70 to spend). However, when checking out, they informed us that you have to spend $35 on two separate days, you cannot apply the $70 to a single day's expense. So we were only able to apply the $35 for the day we had breakfast (so $35 credit, and another $30 out of our pocket). And we couldn't spend the other $35 in time. They should really explain that at check in.

Great boutique hotel in Portland. So cozy, courteous staff and clean. I stayed during the holidays and the decorations and all the nice touches were wonderful. Patio was so festive with igloos , fire pits too. The food was excellent. Room so comfortable and clean. Nicely decorated. I loved the fireplaces in the restaurant and hotel lobby living room area. I will choose the Portland Harbor Hotel on my next visit to Portland.

We stayed at the Portland Harbor Hotel in early Sept 2024 and were very happy with our choice. The location is great, an easy walk to a multitude of restaurants and shops and to the wharfs. Our room was very large, with plenty of space to store baggage etc. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was large and well fitted out. Our only dislike was that there was no separate light for the enclosed toilet. We didn't eat at the hotel but enjoyed the lovely outdoor area and especially the morning pastries and afternoon cookies. We would definitely stay here again & recommend others to do so.

The hotel was in walking distance to great restaurants and shops! It provided complementary drinks and snacks throughout the day. The rooms were spacious and had comfy mattresses. There was a great restaurant and I had scrumptious blueberry pancakes for breakfast! Avery was our waiter three days in a row and knew exactly what I wanted to drink each day! He was very professional and friendly, as were all the staff.

Very impressed with our overall experience. Loved the entrance and how elegant it was. The rooms were carefully curated and provided just the right feel for Maine. Would gladly stay again!

After a hellish day of travel filled with just about every delay you can imagine, we finally arrived at the Portland Harbor Hotel at about 2:45 AM. We were greeted by Josh at the front desk, who was so friendly, helpful, and accommodating. He went out of his way to ensure that we had a peaceful and enjoyable stay, and did it all with a kind demeanor and a smile on his face. The hotel itself is beautiful and the rooms are very nice, but for me, the major draw has been the great interactions I’ve had with the staff. From the maintenance team, to the valet team, and especially the front desk team, my family and I had a fantastic stay at the Portland Harbor Hotel and will absolutely be staying here the next time we are in town!
