One of my all-time favorite hotel stays! Wish I could’ve stayed longer. Modern comforts and efficiency in a historic, charming building. Everything was perfect, from the port wine and pastel de nata samples at check-in to the comfy bed, QUIET room (I didn’t hear a peep from the street!), fluffy cotton robes, really nice coffee/tea set up in room, awesome shower… and a restaurant on the ground floor with excellent food and wine. The location was convenient too. |Zero notes.

Loved every minute of my five day city break. Porto A.S 1829 hotel exceeded my expectations. Fab hotel in centre and walking distance to lots of attractions. Lovely room with everything you needed. Room made up every day, fresh towels and complimentary water replaced all without having to ask. Good choice of buffet breakfast all fresh. Had dinner three nights, nice menu not a big choice but enough. Staff all very polite and cheery. Will definitely be back, hopefully soon.

The location of this hotel is absolutely perfect—you're close to everything you could possibly need, from restaurants and shops to key attractions. The staff were warm and helpful throughout our stay, and the overall experience was fantastic. The only odd moment was one morning when a front desk staff member recommended we eat at Starbucks, claiming everything nearby was closed due to a holiday. But when we stepped outside, we found that nearly all the restaurants in plain view from the lobby were open. So while the service overall was great, I'd suggest double-checking any local recommendations, especially when it comes to food. That said, I'd absolutely stay here again. The beds were very comfortable, and the rooms had a charming, welcoming feel. Highly recommend!

The hotel is in a lovely area of Porto—easy walking distance to many great restaurants, shops, and sights. The building has charm and character, and the overall atmosphere is nice. However, the main reason we booked Porto 1829 Hotel was because of the photos and descriptions on the booking site that highlighted a beautiful bathroom with a bathtub. Many pictures featured it prominently, and we were really looking forward to that experience. Unfortunately, when we arrived, our room had only a shower and looked quite different from what was advertised. I asked the front desk if we could be moved to a room with a tub, but was told there are only two in the entire hotel and both were already taken. It was disappointing, especially since that was a key reason for choosing this hotel. I wish the listings had made it clearer that the bathtubs are limited and not standard in every room. Overall, the stay was fine, but I left feeling a bit misled.

We had a great stay at Porto A.S. 1829 Hotel – a true boutique experience in the heart of Porto. The location is perfect, with easy access to great restaurants, cultural sights, and vibrant nightlife. The service was friendly and professional throughout our visit. Breakfast was also very good, with a nice selection and quality ingredients. This is an ideal place for a 1–2 night city stay – stylish, central, and comfortable.

The breathtaking architecture, steeped in history, immediately caught my eye and set the stage for a memorable stay. The attention to detail in every aspect of the hotel, from the decor to the amenities, truly reflects a commitment to guest satisfaction. My room was a haven of comfort, beautifully appointed with modern touches while still honoring the building's rich heritage. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I appreciated the thoughtful touches that made my stay even more enjoyable. Location-wise, Porto A.S. 1829 Hotel is ideally situated, allowing easy access to some of the city's most iconic attractions. After a day of exploring, I relished returning to the hotel for a cozy evening, where I could unwind with a drink and soak in the ambiance - outdoors. Noisy! It's a great hotel, with great staff and great breakfast in a great location within the city. However, it's in an awful location in that there is a street musician's pitch directly outside the hotel. Mediocre musicians play and sing loudly-amplified music all afternoon (and they have a limited repertoire - I'm still hearing Beatles' songs, sultans of swing etc days after returning home!). It's a bit bizarre that it's permitted but apparently they have a licence. We had a room at the opposite side of the hotel and it was impossible to have a relaxed time in the room even with the doors shut. Many folk seem to like listening to it from the nearby cafés, but they don't have to listen to it every day. The saving grace is that it does stop at 2200 (if it doesn't, reception will go and tell them to stop). Just be sure to check it out before you go.

Amazing stay at this property. Incredible location and the staff was exceptional. Mariana at the front desk was elite. I checked in early with my fiance and the room we were originally given was a little too noisy for us as the street outside can get rather lively. Mariana promptly changed our room and even gave us a free upgrade. The rooms are great although as an american from Florida the AC was a little lacking (as to be expected in Europe). Breakfast was great and had an amazing stay. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Porto!

Yelp
This hotel has so much going for it... PRO'S: - excellent location with shops and restaurants right outside the door - a young, enthusiastic and helpful staff. Kudos to the gal who works the front desk (unfortunately, I can't recall her name, but I believe she may be the only female front desk attendant), who so graciously recommended some fabulous restaurants for us! - complimentary Portugese Egg Tarts and port, which seemingly was available 24/7 - a nice sit-down breakfast in a Michelin star restaurant, located in the lobby - a mini fridge stocked with complimentary snacks and drinks - a basic room that did the job CON: All that being said, there's one aspect that was not so appealing, which was the clawfoot bathtub/shower combo. It's literally located in the bedroom, separated only by a partition. Whenever we showered, humidity filled the room, which is a huge pet peeve of mine. I doubt this is a European feature, since I've traveled all over Europe and have never encountered this. Also, the shower curtain definitely needs to be replaced, as it was moldy on the bottom. Yuck! Because of this, I left the curtain wrapped around the outside of the tub, which resulted in water all over the floor. Neither a practical or good set-up at all! To top all that off, the most frustrating aspect, and I'd go out on a limb to say even dangerous aspect of the clawfoot tub/shower in our room, was the fact that the tub wasn't even bolted down. When Hubby was showering, he swore he felt that the tub was sinking into the floor. I thought he might have had too much to drink, except for the fact that he barely even drinks. So, how could that possibly be?!? Upon further inspection, I noticed that the tub wasn't at all stable, and that I could easily push it back and forth. What?!? We notified the front desk, and they fixed it but that was plain unsafe. How could a bathtub be wobbly whenever you moved around in it? That was really an accident just waiting to happen!! If you can tolerate the clawfoot tub/shower I think you'll find this hotel flawless. Just take this aspect into consideration, since you'll be showering everyday, right?!?

Yelp
Wonderful hotel with friendly helpful staff. Super location for walking the City and seeing all Porto has to offer. Only concern was the bathtub /shower Combo. Not meant for adults. Too small to bath or shower easily. For the price we paid it would have been nice to have proper shower. Other rooms I'm sure have better. Great breakfast.

Yelp
For our stay in Porto we choose this extremely well situated hotel in the historical center of Porto. The hotel has been freshly stablished in an historical building giving a real charm to the place and to the rooms. The service was friendly already before arrival - it is always nice to receive an email q few days before a stay to check if everything is all right and to provide some info on the city. While onsite the service has continued to be great!

Yelp
Hotel was wonderful with amazingly helpful staff, great location, fabulous restaurant, best breakfast buffet. Only drawback was the odd tub/shower arrangement as noted in other reviews. Otherwise was perfect

Yelp
Our stay at this hotel has been storybook magic. We had a wonderful room over a historical plaza that provided endless views and entertainment. The staff was more than highly accommodating and friendly. They cared very much about the quality of our stay. We fell in love with one of the hotel concierges, Bruno. He was above and beyond with service, humor and help. A close second were the rest of the waiters and reception. The restaurant has an amazing vegetable soup and great wine. An amazing location as well. Also, this hotel is concerned with eco-sustainability and it walks the way it talks. STAY HERE!
