How to Plan a Trip to Greece on a Budget

"A budget-friendly island hotel that balances comfort and affordability, it often has excellent advance-booking deals and benefits from a convenient location close to the town center and the island’s best beaches." - Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca is an award-winning journalist and co-founder of Be a Travel Writer, an online course for the next generation of travel journalists. Great location, a 10 minute walk to the port area, great breakfast choices, friendly staff. Rooms are nice but there are stairs everywhere. Pool area was nice as well. Laundry service is available but very expensive, use a laundry service in town instead.

We stayed here for three nights in a Garden Room. This is not a 4-star hotel. It is in need of a renovation and upgrade. Our Garden Room, actually looked out onto a dirt lot with abandoned vehicles. The bathroom had a tub, with no grab bars, which made it difficult getting in and out. The reception staff were not that helpful, unlike our experience elsewhere in Greece. The location of the hotel was about 20-25 minutes walking to old town and the city center-the biggest problem was the vehicle traffic on some of the roads, due to a lack of sidewalks. The breakfasts were good, and the breakfast staff very nice.

My partner and I were 12 nights in Porto Naxos Hotel. The hotel looks great, breakfast is tasty and the room was big and comfortable. All employees were kind and friendly and we truly felt very welcomed. I want to highlight two things: 1. The cleaning personnel was doing an amazing job and I’m really thankful to have been able to come back to a super tidy room every night. 2. We just left and I forgot my headphones. We were already at the port and when we called the hotel and asked if they could send us the headphones via post, the receptionist offered to bring it to the port! Unfortunately I don’t know his name but if he sees that comment I want to say thank you again. It is great that even after checking out, we were treated this kindly. Thanks for the overall amazing experience!

Beautiful hotel, very clean and friendly staff. The breakfast was delicious. Parking on site. Only issue was the wifi being somewhat spoty. Played tennis and sat by the pool, quiet rooms and not too many people, 10/10 recommend this hotel!

Wonderful Stay at Porto Naxos Hotel My partner and I stayed at Porto Naxos Hotel from July 6th to 11th, and we couldn’t have been happier with our choice. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with big smiles and plenty of helpful advice on what to see and do around the island. Our room was fantastic – the bed was honestly one of the comfiest we’ve ever slept in, making it a real challenge to get up some mornings! The pool area, complete with a bar, was the perfect spot to unwind in peace and soak up the Naxos sunshine. Breakfast each morning was plentiful and a great way to start our days exploring. The location is ideal – just a short walk to both the Temple of Apollo and Naxos Old Town, as well as plenty of great restaurants nearby. The combination of comfort, convenience, and the hotel team’s genuine warmth made our stay truly memorable. We’ll definitely return next time we’re on the island!

We stayed at Porto Naxos and overall had a mixed experience. The pool was lovely and a nice place to relax. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff was very kind - when we let them know our safe was broken, they moved us to a different room right away with no hassle. The location wasn’t as central as we expected. It’s quite a walk into town, though there is a local bus station nearby at the market, which helped. One of the main reasons we booked was because the website made the food sound amazing, but unfortunately, we found the buffet pretty disappointing. There wasn’t much variety, and the quality just wasn’t what we’d hoped for. For the price, we would probably look elsewhere next time.

The manager did everything she could to help us. Booking did a mistake and she rectified it. Thank you to the team that is gentle and nice. However careful, the hotel is on a road so if you need quiet sleep bring earplugs.
