Porto Restaurant

We had a fantastic dining experience at Porto Restaurant! The food was excellent across the board—flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. The mixed kofta stood out with its perfectly seasoned meat and juicy texture. The risotto was rich and creamy, cooked to perfection, and the grilled chicken sandwich was a satisfying choice—light yet full of flavor. What truly made the visit special was discovering their impressive kids’ menu. It was a nice surprise to find such a well-thought-out selection for little ones, offering both variety and quality—a rare find in many restaurants. Overall, a great spot for families or anyone looking to enjoy delicious food in a welcoming atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!

Great restaurant, I booked a table for my partners birthday. They decorated the table with a few birthday bits which was lovely of them and they didn’t have to do! The food just added to the experience, the belly pork and Cumbrian chicken was absolutely delightful. To finish things off, the brownie and ice cream was superb. Would recommend here to anyone visiting the Lakes! Thank you guys!

Had an absolutely gorgeous lunch with my parents—it was my mom’s birthday. Our server was the cool Spanish guy, he was extremely considerate! Food was awesome and very reasonably priced considering its prime location in the town.

Well presented food and pleasant service. Went here as the places on the waterside were crowded and we wanted something a bit more than pub grub. Particularly enjoyed the beef bourguinion profiterole.

Wow, the food, ambiance and drinks were delicious. The cheese souffle starter was exquisite. I couldn't get enough of it. For mains, I had the pork, which was delicious and the other had steaks and all enjoyed them. The wines were excellent, as was the after dinner port. The desserts were also a hit with us all. Excellent atmosphere and our server was excellent and friendly. Highly recommend.

We enjoyed a wonderful birthday evening meal at Porto yesterday. Thank you to all the staff. We are staying at a five star hotel with a Michelin star restaurant in Windermere and we both preferred the food at Porto. Not just the food, there was a vibrant atmosphere and every table was occupied. Staff are attentive and professional. Well done.

What an amazing place. Ignore josh farrer, he must have given a bad review to get a free meal. Clown. The place is not like a working mens club at all. It is really nice inside. The food however we had today was exceptional. The lamb shank was perfectly cooked and fell off the bone. The flavour of the jus was so good. The chips are mental, so big but stunning. The chicken tagliatelle was oustanding too. Definitely recommend this place

Beautiful dishes, fantastic service and a lovely atmosphere! Wonderful cocktails, the cod was spectacular and my partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening!

Both food and service were good, generally it was a fulfilling experience that day. The place had lot of people that day, everyone is chilling and chatting, we felt very relaxed. We had two dishes and two drinks and the total expense was about £70. We had two people,so I would say average consume for one person is about £30

A great find and would go again without hesitation. Service was pleasant and efficient and the food and presentation was very good and quite creative. Downside (being picky but I think is important to say), the wine list by the glass was limited, as was the cocktail menu. The menu was also limited for lunch and many items were duplicated, (especially the starters), for the dinner menu. However... you should not hesitate to try this place. As some would say, "what they do, they know what they do and do very well" and prices were also reasonable, especially when considering the quality and the location! Make a reservation if in high season.

My companion and I enjoyed the food and wine at Porto. I would return and recommend Porto to anyone who appreciates flavorful food.

This review is for Porto in Bowness on Windermere. Somehow the picture above looks to be of a different restaurant. We found Porto on a day trip up to Windermere. What a nice little spot, located on a side street in Bowness. I had the cheese souflee app and the poached haddock entree. Both were very tasty. Lovely, would recommend.

We came to this restaurant twice in our stay here in Bowness. We just love the flavors, taste treat delights! Mushroom bruschetta, scallops, lamb chump, duck breast, all were wonderful. You will not be disappointed. Great wine list at very reasonable prices! Delish!

We were looking for Italian but found this to be open and interesting. Appears to be Spanish cuisine. Very tasty. Nice decor. Service was a little slow but I think they were understaffed that day.

We strolled into Postilion without a reservation; luckily we got a table. I am not a fan of French Cuisine so I was delighted when we had such a delicious meal! When you walk in you can catch a glimpse of the chef working - cooking up imaginitive and tempting combinations...even for a traditionalist like me. Thanks for making our honeymoon that much more special with delightful food and a cozy atmostphere!

We discovered this gem on our first night in Windermere. The atmosphere was amazing and as we went early it wasn't that busy. The emphasis was on tapas and spanish food and it was gorgeous. Would definitely reccommend
