Excellent small hotel in the old town of Chania overlooking the harbour. A 3 Star hotel with 5 Star staff. They were absolutely delightful. So friendly and polite. We stayed over Christmas and had a superb break. Room 101 was a fantastic suite with sliding doors that separated the bedroom from the living room. Excellent views

I could write this review with one sentence…. “The Porto Veneziano is truly my home away from home!” I have stayed at the Porto Veneziano most every year since 2007; some visits as long as a month. However I hasten to add that I am only one of the many people who absolutely adore this hotel and who return year after year! The Porto Veneziano Hotel is an extremely popular year-round destination. Suffice it to say to avoid disappointment ….… book early!||Superbly managed and owned by the Platsidakis family for as long as I can remember, one will enjoy the services and convenience of an excellent hotel as well as the incredible Cretan hospitality that truly defines the charming Old Town of Chania. The staff is consistently “amazing” and quick to anticipate one’s every need in order to provide an enjoyable, comfortable, and care-free visit. In 17 years (minus a couple of COVID cancellations), my reservations have always been handled in the most efficient and thoughtful manner. ||The Old Port location of the Hotel affords the convenience of being able to walk everywhere in the Old Town - and - it has a sunset view over the famous lighthouse that would even make Santorini jealous! This prime location also gives one a good base from which to take some great day trips by boat, bus, or car throughout the entire Chania and even the Rethymno Prefectures. The Hotel provides private guest parking and if for any reason it’s full, there is a municipal lot nearby.||While there are many excellent tavernas, cafes, and bars within walking distance, the Hotel offers an extensive food and bar service throughout the day from the bountiful buffet breakfast served harborside, wonderful sandwich plates, to the delightful candle-lit dinners served harborside or in the dining room. The lounge is also very popular with locals and tourists alike and serves everything from Greek herbal teas, coffee, an extensive wine list, drinks and festive cocktails; all with the choice of harborside, indoor, or private garden seating. ||From the excellent accommodation to special amenities such as the private parking, bicycle and beach towel loan, and luggage storage, the Porto Veneziano is absolutely my #1 hotel choice in Chania.

I have stayed at the Porto Veneziano numerous times over the last 20 years. The facility is well designed, well staffed and most welcoming. Location is exceptionable - at the elbow of the old city and everything extends from there. Rooms are comfortable, well attended with daily housekeeping and the feel of a boutique facility. Breakfast is included both waterside and indoors. Menu choices extend beyond the usual hotel buffets. It includes menus choices, both American, Cretan and vegetarian items cooked to order. A spectacular buffet is available too. Service staff are pleasant and accommodating to your requests.|The front desk is available for all your needs, whether beach towels, bicycles, directions or securing a rental vehicle. A parking lot is located behind the hotel (first come first served) and a public parking lot is adjacent. Shopping, cafes are numerous as well as boat rental for sightseeing. An extensive seasonal food market is a short walk behind the hotel. My only suggestion is that consideration be given to installing “grab bars” in the shower.

We enjoyed our 4-night stay at Porto Boutique Hotel. Great location and a few steps away from the main tourist area. It’s a quaint and quiet hotel with friendly service. The view of the pier was a bonus. We enjoyed our buffet breakfast with made-to-order eggs prepared to your liking. ||Book early to request the sea view rooms. We booked four months out and the only rooms available were the side sea view. The rooms are small, but adequate to our travel needs.

Comfortable room, great sea view, pleasant and attentive staff, free parking and a generous breakfast. Also close enough to walk into the centre without actually being there, as around the main harbour can be a little noisy. Furthermore, we had to change the date of our visit at the very last minute and the hotel could not have been more accommodating.

This is a nice hotel in a GREAT location. Our room had EXCELLENT views of the harbour and came with a full balcony. Breakfast was included and it was pretty good too. Staff was friendly and helpful. There are lots of good restaurants nearby, and easy walking access to the old town highlights.

We were very happy with our double room with harbor view. The room was spotlessly clean, quiet, and had plenty of storage and a wonderful view of the old harbor. The breakfast buffet had a great selection of fruit, pastries, cereal, and local specialties. The most memorable aspect of our stay was the outstanding hotel staff, who were friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. Maria at the front desk alerted us to an unexpected closure of Samaria Gorge, which we had planned to visit, thereby allowing us to re-work our plans and make the most of our stay in Chania.

Excellent gem of a hotel. Very friendly and professional staff. Good breakfast and evening meals were excellently presented and very good value. The bedrooms were very clean and shining each day. Lovely location too right in the old town by the harbour.
