"Steps away from boutique-lined Avenida da Liberdade, PortoBay Liberdadeis an urbane yet unstuffy boutique hotel designed by Lisbon-native architect Frederico Valsassina, who carefully preserved the building’s historic facade while incorporating stylish details throughout. The 98 rooms are refuges from the frenetic energy of the street beyond the hotel’s doors with creamy color schemes, billowing curtains, and smart TVs for winding down after a day spent seeing the sights. The rooftop iskitted outwith plush wicker furniture, crisp white umbrellas, and wood decking, creating acomfortable scene that doesn’tcompete withcity views. Stop by the hotel bar, Deck7, for traditional Portuguesecuisine (the staff recommends the Prego, a beef sandwich served on bolo do caco ) and a glass of local wine."

9.6||“Great hotel but not perfect”||This is a lovely hotel in a great location. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooftop bar/deck is beautiful and a lovely place to have a drink after a long day sightseeing. Whilst the hot tub on the deck is a unique feature, we didn’t feel comfortable using it in front of people fully suited and using the area for lunch & meetings. Would be better in the pool/spa area downstairs. Also, water sprayers/humidifiers on the deck are quite the surprise, especially if you have just spent half an hour straightening your hair before popping up for a drink! As with hotels in any big city, traffic & building works start early and can be a bit noisy but all hotels in Lisbon would have this problem. The surprising issue for a 5 star hotel is the noise & movement from the doors of neighbouring rooms. You can actually feel the walls vibrate when they close. Building improvement works were taking place at the front of the hotel during our stay but we were informed by email before arrival and offered hospitality credit for the inconvenience which was a nice touch.

Our 4 night stay was pleasant and nice. Breakfast was good but the same items every day. If you are going now, beware of the construction going on which can be noisy. The hotel offered us a voucher to compensate for it but unfortunately, they only let you use the voucher for food and drinks... we did not use it. The location is nice but next time I would prefer to stay a little closer to praca do comercio.

This hotel was a perfect destination for a 4-day trip to Lisbon.
The check in was quick and we got access to our rooms which were immediately very nice. One room had a Juliet balcony with city views and the other had a medium-sized balcony facing backwards.
The pillows were slightly too soft for my preference but they had quite a wide selection to choose from.
We booked with included breakfast and each day there was a wide, but different selection including food for people with all kinds of preferences. The staff in the dining area and are very friendly, and accommodated us in the bar when the main area was full.
The Spa area is also very nice, the pool was mostly quiet and the Sauna was pleasant. The staff were also very helpful. The room provided slippers, gowns, and towels which you could take down.
The location was also perfect, being on a side street made it so the area around the hotel was pretty quiet, making it not overwhelming, while also being a quick walk from any points of interest.
The only downside was that we had difficulties casting to the TV with Airplay.

Would certainly recommend staying at the PortoBay Liberdade hotel. A short break, and a first visit to lovely Lisbon with my daughter. We had a superior twin room with very comfortable beds, AND, importantly very comfortable pillows; good bed linen. The room was well furnished in all respects ; decent sized bathroom. Added bonus was a small balcony overlooking the canopy of trees in the street below. The location was ideal, and we enjoyed this elegant 'neighbourhood' of Lisbon. Good breakfast with a large array of choices was included in our tariff. The staff were extremely efficient, polite and friendly. A charming, surprise gesture was a bottle of champagne and delicious cake left in our room to celebrate my daughter's birthday which occured during our stay. Would definitely choose the PortoBay for any further visits to Lisbon. Highly recommended for helpful, friendly staff and location.

I can’t say enough good about this hotel. The staff has been excellent, the food outstanding, and the stay was great. I want to especially recognize Rui Miguens who went over and beyond the first day we were there by ensuring we had our room and our bags with no issues.

This is a comfortable hotel in a quiet side street towards the top of the Avenida. Excellent location. Not the best 5+ that we have stayed in but some of this could be down to personal preferences - I have an intense dislike of brown decor, which seems to be the colour of choice for many hotel rooms these days. There is no Concierge - something one would normally expect to find in any 5+ hotel. So it was disappointing that no one could help us book train tickets when we were unable to do so online. On the plus side the breakfast was good and the young bar tenders in the reception area do a great job!

- Stayed for 11 nights in a suite.|- Room amenities were excellent.|- Excellent front desk and concierge staff.|- Location was great for touring activities - close to Metro for Lisbon tours and access to highways for day trips.|- Disappointments:| - It took several days to address our request for additional small towels and specific beverages (supposed to be included for a suite).| - Breakfast service was only full buffet. Would have liked just a coffee and croissant.

Yelp
I was going to give a better rating but the hotel charged my Visa $42.03 after check out. I have gone back and forth with them and they claim it's for 2 breakfasts, tips and taxes, which are on my original statement, which I paid in full. Now I have to dispute that double charge on my credit card.
They get 3 stars (versus one) because the hotel is really pretty, in a great location and I had a lovely view from my small balcony. It wasn't cheap thought and neither were the lobby bar drinks or breakfast. They say that property is inexpensive in Portugal but they really get the tourists with their American pricing (more like Las Vegas prices).
The spa is cold water. It's really lovely but that was disappointing. I thought it was a hot tub but I guess it's cool water for cooling down after you take a sauna.
$42.03 will not break me but it's the principal. I had a lovely time until check out. Then to get charged for something after the bill I paid said "paid in full" really annoyed me. I still have an open dispute - to which the hotel claims I owe. Forever it will go back and forth. They would rather I complain and complain and dispute it on my credit card and bitch on Yelp than just reimburse me the money. Hello? I paid $500 for 2 nights plus drinks in their bar. It's not like they didn't make money off me already.
Anyway, if you stay here - make sure you do not get overcharged.

Yelp
Unique boutique hotel situated on a beautiful tree lined street, which gave us a "local" feel and experience! Staff were attentive, experienced, knowledgeable and extremely helpful at every encounter! Location was absolutely perfect for our first time in Lisboa!

Yelp
Check in was easy. Nice clean room, on the small side but coffee in room and balcony a plus. Breakfast is great. Location is great and centrally located. Would stay here again. Pay for parking.

Yelp
The hotel is located in the center 25 minutes walk to the old town . Many restaurants are around. The rooms are nice and WiFi is good. Staff is very helpful. The breakfast is buffet style and is good.

Yelp
Excellent hotel. We stayed in a superior room twice during our Portugal vacation. The breakfast was first class, rooms were modern, comfortable, and quiet. The service was friendly and efficient. I'd recommend that you use their airport transfer on arrival, as they meet you at the arrivals section and take you via private car.
