We’ve been staying at the Porto Bay Hotel in Rio de Janeiro, and from the moment we arrived, it’s been a fantastic experience. The hotel itself is beautiful — the rooms are spotless and comfortable, the breakfast in the morning is absolutely heavenly, and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. It’s in a perfect location too, right on Copacabana Beach. We booked through Trailfinders and couldn’t be happier we chose to stay here.||During our stay, we were lucky enough to have not one but two incredible guides who made our trip truly unforgettable.||One day, reception arranged a driver named Rodrigo to take us to the Botanical Gardens. On the way, he asked how adventurous we were feeling and suggested a visit to a local favela if we felt comfortable. We decided to give it a go — and it turned into the highlight of our trip. Rodrigo showed us a completely different side of Rio, introduced us to locals, and even took us to an amazing spot for lunch. It felt safe, genuine, and eye-opening in the best possible way.||We also spent three days with Marcello, another wonderful guide who we instantly warmed to. He took us to Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf Mountain, and even made sure we got to the airport smoothly. Marcello was so kind, hard-working, and attentive — we loved spending time with him and truly appreciated how much care he put into making our days special.||We already loved our stay at Porto Bay, but the experiences with Rodrigo and Marcello were the icing on the cake. Highly recommend both the hotel and these two exceptional guides for anyone visiting Rio.||— Daniel & Toby
