Portofino's Ristorante'

For nearly 12 years, we have passed this restaurant without ever eating here. We always say, "Why do we keep forgetting about it when thinking of what new place we want to try." Finally, I put my dementia to the side and said we are going for a kid free date night. We went around 6 pm on a Friday and just beat the crowd. It is BYOB for those who enjoy a drink with dinner. You can tell there are a lot of regulars that come in, and we can see why. The staff were great! Food was robust with flavor. The menu has a decent amount of options for all appetites with specials as well. It's the type of restaurant where one of the owners comes around to your table to make sure everything is to your liking. I can't remember the last time my wife not only finished her plate but also had dessert. I had to clean mine with the last remaining piece of bread. It definitely is on the list to come back.

First time here. The service was excellent. The food is very delicious. The owner introduced himself and made us feel welcomed. We will return soon. And recommend you try this restaurant if you haven't yet. You won't be disappointed.

My first time dining here for my mom’s birthday. We did not have reservations & we were a party of 6 they quickly got a table together for us. Food & service was great would definitely go again. Let’s not forget big portions 😊

Another spectacular dinner at Portofino! This place is DELICIOUS and service is always incredible! Best Italian restaurant in Northern NJ. Cannot wait to return. BYOB…. The hostess or one of the food runners (4/21) were definitely a little much with cleaning the table while we ate and constantly asking if we were finished but we assume she is just learning! Loved this place for my dad’s birthday on Sunday. I had the Rigatoni Zíngara, we had calamari and the others in my party had the veal, ravioli and the minestrone soup. Everything was freshly prepared and the pasta is definitely not like Barilla, it had a fresh homemade taste. The zíngara sauce had a spicy sauce which was amazing with the mushroom and olives 🩷 Literally my only complaint or as I would say a space for improvement is our waitor was great but a waitress who gave us our dessert kind of rushed us (our fault it was closing time soon so no problem!) but it was pretty pushy and scraping away all our dishes and giving them to her to carry like 7 plates to the back so it was a little pushy. And then the end was like she was not too experienced which is okay, but for our desserts she handed us our silverware and waited for us to be done talking to take the silverware from her hand. It was very like an inexperienced feeling of being a customer. I’m sure she is lovely though so it not a complaint more of advice! 🩷 we will DEFINITELY be coming back we have been looking for years for a place near us since we moved ⭐️ Also obsessed with the little Parmesan holder, yeah what is it?

I am happy to say I now have a second Italian restaurant added to my options list in Morris County. From the door, service was exceptional and attentive and throughout it was balanced just right. We went out for a family birthday celebration and there were three other parties with celebrations at the time. The atmosphere was not overly noisy and the food was delightful. We will certainly be back to Portofino's in the near future. Restrooms were clean and the restaurant also has a side patio and front entrance seating area.

I was craving for pasta. Hit the jackpot! The Anthony pasta was delicious 😋. Fresh mushrooms, chicken, and Italian sausage. My wife had a meat special (sorry can't remember the name), but was tender, juicy, great flavor. Ari made us feel welcomed!

I would rate this restaurant as a 4.5 but not quite a solid 5. It has a charming vibe, especially if you are sitting next to the fireplace. The bruschetta was delicious as was the garlic bread that it came with. I ordered clams oreganata as an appetizer and they were good. For the main dish I had a Veal chop that was cooked to perfection, seasoned right and was juicy as well as tasty. My only gripe with it was the price. I believe it was a bit overpriced (50$) as a special which they didn't provide pricing for. The waitress verbally told me the specials. I still don't regret ordering it, because it was indeed delicious. The service was great, waiting staff was very attentive, perhaps because it was a slow night but I prefer it quiet, so that worked out well. I even had a desert ( blue berry cheese cake) which was good but not super fresh. Being a tough critic that I am and seeing how most restaurants nowadays have declined in quality of food and services, I will say that I genuinely enjoyed the food and atmosphere at this place. I will definitely return and try out more things on the menu.
