Portrush Adelphi (Portrush, County Antrim) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"It makes sense that Marine & Lawn, a hospitality group that runs a small but distinguished collection of luxury resorts near some of the UK’s top golf courses, would acquire the historic Adelphi Hotel. A fixture in the seaside town of Portrush since the mid-19th century, it’s just steps from the entrance to the exclusive Royal Portrush Golf Club. There’s still a classic look and a charming old-world air to the landmark hotel — rooms feature crisp tartans, fine wood furnishings, maritime artwork, and a deep green and blue color palette inspired by the ocean — but its refreshed interiors have a modern edge, especially in the Red Sail Room, a stylish bar and restaurant with velvet banquettes, glowing lamps, and abundant greenery. Retro bicycles are available for exploring the hotel’s scenic surroundings." - Tablet Hotels

Genuinely, the best staff & treatment I’ve ever experienced! |I’m very well travelled & don’t say this lightly. |In particular, Joan at the front desk / reception was brilliant with me. She was so helpful & kind. Went well above & beyond to ensure I was taken care of during my stay. I love to see someone care so much & put in such effort & passion into their role.|Location of the hotel is ideally situated on the Main Street in the town. Everywhere is a short walk away. |Was my first time in Portrush but after having such a fantastic experience, I’m planning to return soon & won’t be looking anywhere else than the Adelphi! Thanks again ALL 🙏🏼😊

We stayed in this hotel early July and I have to say staff we're wonderful and very helpful the decor is beautiful and as for the room we had a front room with a bit of a sea view absolutely gorgeous. The quality of the bed linen, pillows and duvet was one of the most luxurious I've ever had. Will definitely be back

We are a family with a son with a severe dairy allergy.|Hotel staff couldn't have looked after us any better. Right from time of booking, Michelle on reception reassured us that the kitchen could accommodate us and alerted all staff about the allergy. Restaurant staff were all aware, accommodating and reassuring. Head chef Stephen spoke to us in person and a safe and delicious dairy free dinner was prepared for our son. Breakfast chef Monica next morning was the same. First class.

As a Portrush resident, this was my first time in the new Adelphi. It has been beautifully restored and is an asset to Portrush. A lovely environment to sit for a quiet coffee. Our meal in the restaurant was variable. The crab linguine was delicious, with lots of fresh crab. Something went wrong with the mussels which seemed microwaved, no other way to describe them, really! Our waiter was called Jamie, he was lovely and had obviously had proper training in hospitality. So nice, it made the meal very pleasant and enjoyable. I would definitely return and recommend- but not the mussels! .

The Manor House is a fantastic little find on Rathlin and what a bonus .. they allow dogs. I have no fault with this wonderful establishment. The staff, the dog friendly bedroom and wow the excellent food.. well done to The Manor ... Thoroughly enjoyable little piece of Utopia.

I had done tons of research on where to go and where to eat in Portrush and Adelphi continuously came up. When we actually went not only was it stunning but the entire staff was so nice and welcoming. My mother and I ordered espresso martinis and they may have been the best we’ve ever had! Overall the atmosphere, staff and drinks were fabulous and above and beyond. I asked if they had any souvenirs and our waitress came back with a cute tote bag filled with goodies! Truly a great experience and would love to visit again!

Definitely not a 5 star hotel unfortunately. The interiors are beautiful and it’s had a great refurbishment + location is excellent, but the rooms were also warm & stuffy since they have no A/C. The service from front of house was lacking. We were refused breakfast 10 minutes late, with front of house staff unwilling to show any flexibility. Communication upon our arrival was poor as well. Not good enough for a supposed 5 star hotel. In general staff tried their best and were all very pleasant, but despite it being relatively quiet, staff seemed stressed & confused at times, with there clearly being a lack of leadership or staff training. To be fair - the food & service in the red sail restaurant was absolutely terrific on the Saturday evening. That aspect was certainly 5 stars. It's a decent hotel but needs a lot of improvements to attain a proper 5 star level of experience.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay - the food was absolutely stunning - but we felt it was important to flag that the front desk service didn’t quite meet the high standard of the rest of the experience. A little extra training here would really bring the guest experience up to the level of the hotel’s otherwise excellent offering.

Yelp
Thought I would update my review, went into the Adelphi hotel today for a bite to eat, I got chicken goujons and chips with garlic dip. The waiters are attentive and friendly. The dining room is cosy and modern with a flat screen tv displaying a constant video of a fish tank which is quite relaxing. My meal came the chips were better than last time the chicken goujons were ok but I wasn't keen on them, the garlic dip was nice but the crunchy pieces of garlic were a bit much, the side salad was nice but they didn't put any dressing at all on it so it was a bit bland. Nice hotel , nice decor, prices are reasonable. Steps entrance to front or ramp entrance to the side. The food has improved a bit from last time but I wouldn't be in a rush to get something to eat in the Adelphi, good place for a quick drink though, bottles of wine from £9. Parking on street. Free WiFi in hotel.

Yelp
My fiancé and I found this gem as we were heading up to Dunluce Castle to elope and could not have had a better experience! I wrote in our reservation notes the night before asking if we could check in a little early to get ready for our wedding and within an hour of submitting, their staff called and told us they would be more than willing to help out! We arrived to this adorable nestled hotel and checked in with ease. The moment we got to our room, I honestly shed tears of joy. Not only was the view of the coast breathtaking, but the incredible staff here had complimentary champagne waiting for us! We had an amazing wedding day and headed back to the Adelphi to inquire about fun spots to visit in town. They directed us to the Springhill pub down the street where we were greeted by an amazing group of soon to be new friends and had pint after pint in celebration. The next morning we headed down to breakfast and were so pleasantly surprised at how accommodating the staff was to our dietary needs! This was the first place on our entire trip that was able to give us the full Irish breakfast catered to our vegan diets. They even went so far as to put together a breakfast in bed tray for us to take up and snack on while we packed up. I cannot rave enough about this perfect hotel and hope anyone that reads this review heads up to Portrush to check it out. We will definitely be coming back every year to celebrate and will be sure to stay at the Adelphi! Thank you all again for your amazing hospitality!!

Yelp
The meal I had was enjoyable and considerably cheaper than 55degrees where I had intended eating and waiting in a que out the door is something I couldn't do, the Adelphi has good food for the money as the roast of the day was only £6.50 and I couldn't fault it, service was good and natural, there wasn't any over the top falseness. For a may day it was surprising how empty the restaurant was . The lounge area is big and ideal for a pre or post meal drink, or both if your in the mood. A stay at the Adelphi is definitely something id consider in the future too.

Yelp
This hotel is situated downtown within a walk of the strand and numerous restaurants. It's floor layout is somewhat confusing but once you find your room and it's location to the nearest stairway or elevator, it shouldn't be a problem getting in and out. The room was spacious and clean. Not a spectacular view from the windows but we were on the move all the time during the day anyway. The lobby area and bar were up front and the windows had views of the street so we were able to sit there with a glass of irish whiskey and watch the crowds walk by. The breakfast was a cold buffet set up with hot meals to order. Everything was cooked correctly. Would I use the same hotel again when back in Portrush. Yes.

Yelp
This review is of this hotel's excellent RESTAURANT (they really need a separate restaurant review page): We had a lovely dinner at the Adelphi Bistro. It is situated in the hotel of the same name, and I'm not often drawn to hotel restaurants. But this one was superb. The service was friendly and helpful. For a starter, we had the bruschetta -- flavorful tomato, garlic, balsamic, and feta cheese. We both had steaks, mine with an amazing peppercorn sauce (at the recommendation of one of he staff). And then, looking through the photos on here, we decided on the homemade apple pie. The crust was like shortbread, and the filling buttery, too. OK! So we may not have made the healthiest of choices, but our dinner sure was good. Note that they have a two-course, and three-course special menu each evening, at a great price. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Starting with the good. The rooms are pretty, food is nice and so is the bar. However, the levers used to seal the windows on each room won't budge, letting bugs and spiders crawl in as they please as I type this. Not only does the window issue make the bugs an issue, it also lets all the street noise (cars, shouting people, etc.) leak in as if the window were open. On top of all that, the Internet did not work while I was staying here, and the spa area closed at 8pm on a Friday. Bring some earplugs and bug spray and you'll love this place.
