I’ve enjoyed my stay very much: beautiful and serene location, with a beautiful pristine lake to swim on your doorstep. It’s so quiet, only a sound of jungle. ||It’s easy to access all archeological sites and Flores. The team would help to arrange a collectivo or a taxi. ||The reception team are very helpful and lovely. The rooms are comfortable, clean and I’ve experienced a sense of a privacy, because of how the rooms are arranged. Each seem to have a separate path and little outdoor space.

After having visited and stayed in numerous hotels in Guatemala, this has by far been the best experience. This is even in comparison to places where we paid much more and that were far more heavily promoted as bring high end. Such a lovely place, with staff delivering exceptional service. Needless to say, this place is absolutely recommendable—you will not be disappointed!

This location was the highlight of our trip to Guatemala! The location is fantastic as it is right near the town of El Remate and lake Petén Itzá so there is plenty of food and places to relax when needed. The food and rooms at the hotel are great as well. You are just a short shuttle ride from Tikal without having to deal with many crowds. ||The best part of the hotel is the abundant nature in the area. It is right next to biotopo cerro cahui which is a sanctuary for many bird, mammal and reptile species. We saw many amazing species of wildlife right in the hotel grounds including blue-crowned motmot, howler monkey, gartered trogon, and helmeted iguanas. While we were there, one of the hosts named Santos was extremely helpful in pointing out lots of these animals and where to find him. He was an excellent host and was extremely knowledgable on all the local wildlife and plants. If you are looking for a nice and relaxing spot near Tikal to enjoy lots of wildlife I would highly recommend this spot!

My wife, 11 and 13 yea-olds, I really enjoyed our December 2021 visit to Posada del Cerro. From my first interactions with him on WhatsApp, Ricard Busquets, the manager of del Cerro was organized, gracious, and helpful. We opted for the three-bed apartment in the lodge, so we could prepare lunches and breakfasts for ourselves. Sitting on the apartment’s deck at night, listening to the (loud) insect sounds of the forest was wonderful. The apartment was basically furnished and, while you wouldn’t want to cook up a seven-course dinner, the apartment’s kitchen was sufficient; we found going up to the main kitchen/dining area 25 meters away to get another plate (or a bit of sugar) was super easy. The kitchen staff will provide jugs of drinking water for your use upon request. Dinners at del Cerro were limited to 2-3 choices (always a vegetarian option) and given the limited number of tables/seats, you needed to make a reservation for dinner by late afternoon. Despite this, dinners at del Cerro’s restaurant were surprisingly tasty and the proportions larger than expected. As was our experience with other lodging in Guatemala, COVID protocols were integrated into all operations in terms of cleaning & spacing of tables. Ricard and his staff always wore masks; guests wore them as well, though this is a social expectation, not a demand. Right across the road from the hotel is a grassy area from which we all swam in the (very-warm) lake. Finally, a stay at del Cerro is money well spent. All told, we really enjoyed our six nights at Posada del Cerro.

I don't understand why people give good reviews to places like this. We had to carry our luggage up a steep hill. The rooms don't have air conditioning, there isn't any hot water. I would never stay here again.

A great place to stay and relax near Tikal and other beautiful Guatemalan places, including Lago Peten Itza right across the road - great place to swim. Wonderful food and service, and Santos, the property manager, is so great to work with and truly interested in guests having a great stay. Bring bug spray and soap and you're in for a treat! Get the Cocodrilo room if it is available for amazing lake views and breezes. Breakfast is delicious - and other excellent restaurants within easy walking distances.

We enjoyed very much our two-night stay in this hotel. The room we had for our family of four was spatious and had a nice terrace, though no view on the lake because of the vegetation. We were woken up one morning a 4am by howler monkeys right on top of our roof; wonderful experience (one of our kids' trip highlights). The food at the restaurant is good, but mostly standard western type of dishes. For the second night we asked to have a local dish, and the staff were very good at being able to get this done for us. The distance between the hotel and the main junction is NOT 1 kilometer as announced by hotel staff, bur rather 2 kilometers. Quite a difference when you have to walk this with your backpack. ||The staff were very friendly and they also helped us arrange transportation that we needed to Yaxcha.

10% taxes on price of the food added to bill at end of stay.... it is not acceptable to hide prices like that. We feel fooled even if it is not a lot. Room is not cleaned even if should be. So I would not recommand it because honnesty and confidence are the most important criteria.
