Very quiet and peaceful if you avoid rooms in front. Room we were in had one tiny window that opened, making the air rather still and humid. They did provide a large, noisy fan which improved the situation. Only a problem in the unusual heat we encountered. Being an older building, electrical outlets were sparse. Location is convenient to the centre of town. Staff were very accommodating. Given the price and location highly recommended.

I can't find fault with this accommodation. I have trouble sleeping at night and asked for a room at the back and upstairs. The room was very quiet at night. There is ongoing construction of a suite downstairs and the noise went throughout the day, at times quite noisy and at other times not bad. The breakfast was good and the service I had in the restaurant was wonderful and attentive. I enjoyed my stay. I loved all of the staff and the senor who took care of everything that might go wrong was indeed wonderful. You will enjoy your stay here and the price is good. While I do not usually stay in pet friendly hotels, I did not see a pet during my stay.

We loved this place. It's located on a quiet, dead-end street, just a few blocks from the Zócolo, in a lovely colonial-era area. The hotel is immaculate, the rooms are huge and charming, everything is extremely clean, and the inner courtyard is lovely. There is also a great roof-top garden with an excellent view of the city. The staff was all great. The hotel parking is a bit of a challenge, though. It's across the street in an internal courtyard only accessible by a VERY tight passageway. We had only a couple of inches clearance beyond the sideview mirrors on our rented Prius. Also, the hotel restaurant was definitely only so-so. We had lunch there when we first arrived, but after that walked into town to eat. By the way, Tlaxcala is wonderful as well, and little visited despite its charm. We could have happily spent much more time there.

Hotel La Casona de Cortes is a charming small hotel located only a few blocks from the zócalo in Tlaxcala. The rooms are situated around a lovely central courtyard and fountain. The King superior rooms and bathrooms are large, filled with colorful painted Mexican furniture and ours had a small balcony that looked out onto the street. There was plenty of hot water in the shower and toiletries were provided. The beds were very comfortable and there were plenty of blankets to keep warm on cold winter nights. As others have mentioned, there is no heat and because of the stone walls and tile floors, the rooms do tend to be cold. They would be great in the summertime with no need for A/C! We didn't spend a lot of time in our rooms so the cold didn't bother us or our friends but it may be a downside for some people. Also, around 8:30 am, the State Police barracks next door have reveille which might disturb some light sleepers but, other than that, our room was very quiet. There is free wifi access throughout the hotel and it is also pet-friendly. La Casona de Cortes has an attractive on-site restaurant that is open for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is not included in the price of the room but there were lots of choices, the portions were generous, prices were reasonable, everything was well-prepared and service was excellent. All of the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful which made our stay an enjoyable one. We loved Tlaxcala and would definitely stay at La Casona de Cortes again, if we should return.

Cozy old Mexican Inn. Pet Friendly. We were 5 and we got a very spacious and very clean room with three full beds and a small bed for our dog. Colonial decoration. Breakfasts are simple but are quite good. Friendly and kind personnel. Only 4 blocks away from Downtown, you can go walking and get to the main Place in less than 10 min.

Overall the hotel is very pleasant, but there is NO HEAT in the room. In January, it was in the low 40s at night and the room was extremely cold. There are ample warm blankets, so sleeping was fine, but otherwise being in the room in the evening or morning was not comfortable at all.||||Our room (#2) was spacious with fun colorful decor and looked out on a pretty courtyard. It had a good bed and very good shower. Breakfast (not included) was good also. It would probably be very nice in warmer weather, but I would not choose it again in the winter.||||It is just a few blocks from the Zocalo. The last half-block is a kind of deserted dead-end street that made us a little nervous coming home at night, but we didn't have any problems.

Loved my short stay in this quaint and peaceful hotel. Hidden, clean, staff super helpful and courteous, and the food was tasty. It's located 2 blocks from the Main Square (zócalo), the streets are safe and clean, and there is a marvelous cafe around the corner where one can work comfortably. I was a bit my first night so I asked for another blanket, and it was quickly supplied. They had an adapter for my computer cord, ironing board, and even printed my boarding pass. Yes, the police school is next door and at 8am they do the Flag's honors, but it's done in 5min., and I was already awake by then. I was not bothered by the noise at all. The hotel has a nice sitting area on the roof with a nice view of the city so I worked there a bit. The only flaw: bad internet connection in my room. 4 wifi passwords and 4 corners in the room didn't help my iPhone connect but my computer didn't have a problem so I worked till the wee hours of the morning. Fix the internet connection, and you'll be perfect!

I don't have much more to add than what has been said before but I'd like to offer a couple rebuttals, suggestions and comments.||First of all, it is so rare to be near the center of a mid sized Mexican city and still have quiet, As has been pointed out, this is probably not a place for night owls, since the pre-reveille horn starts blowing at 7:50.||I was initially worried about the smell, but didn't find that to be a problem in my room near the back of the second floor, Room 8. I liked the fact that you could open a window and a door for cross ventilation. ||Also, while the breakfast wasn't great, it was filling enough and reasonably priced. ||room 8 is far from the water heater-be patient. If you have luxurious locks, you may be disappointed in the water pressure. I'm pretty much bald so no problemo for me.||Not all the staff speaks fluent English but there was always someone there to take care of things. They were very responsive and attentive.||There is a worthwhile discount if you pay cash.||I would stay there again.
