Posada Mawimbi

Wow. What an amazing place to stay. Manager Marcia who organized a private shuttle from our Cancun hotel right to Mawimbi including tickets for the ferry and taxi to the hotel, showed us around the hotel after we checked in, and introduced us to all the staff. After that, we were all friends. What a great experience. We never ate anywhere else during our 4 night stay because we not only loved the food but also the staff who were all delightful and fun. The beach directly in front of the hotel was beautiful and if you wanted to go for a walk on the beach away you go in either direction. The water beautiful and warm. Marcia also organized a couple of excursions while we were there and both were awesome. Our room was outstanding. Always cleaned at least once a day. Be aware you are not able to flush toilet paper but that was never an issue as the cleaning staff came a couple times a day to empty the waste basket. We couldn't recommend stayed at Mawimbi more. We will be back.

We stayed at Mawimbi for my friend's 50th birthday and it was the best stay EVER!! This hotel is so beautiful, clean and inviting, the beach is RIGHT THERE and so exquisite and the food and service is impeccable. The staff (Marcia, Moses, Sal, Patrick and all) are amazing people. They made us feel at home and made the birthday so special. It was truly like the owners invited us to their home as you can see the care taken with every aspect. We will be back to this perfect oasis.

This place is a dream! ⭐️ My happy place 😀 My home away from home! ❤️ This is my 9th time in Holbox and In my opinion this is the best hotel and beach on the entire island. 🏝️I’ve stayed here 6 times in 7 different rooms anywhere from 2 nights to 25 nights! All the rooms are so beautiful, steps away from the beach, clean and comfortable. This time I stayed in a balcony room “dolphin” 🐬 with an huge wrap around deck, a hammock and my own private sitting area overlooking the beach! I slept with my window open and fell asleep to the sound of the ocean! Heavenly! But what really makes this place magical is the amazing staff! They make you feel like family. They truly care and will do whatever they can to make you happy. You can tell they love working there and the positive happy energy just rubs off on you!! Breakfast is included and delicious 😋They also have Starlink and a generator (random power outages are not uncommon on the island), which worked great for my 1.5 hour zoom meetings!

Hotel Mawimbi is without a doubt the most special place I’ve ever stayed at! The hotel itself is stunning, and the owners have put in so much love and attention to detail to the decor and the atmosphere. The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable, and in my opinion, the beachfront at Mawimbi is the most beautiful on the whole island, and it’s very well maintained. It also has great views of the sunset which was a big plus! What was beyond my expectation were the staff, from Marcia to the entire restaurant staff (special shoutout to Salvador, Moses, Ivan, and Patricio). They are incredible humans who put a smile on our faces every single day of our stay. They are not only professional, but they bring such passion, energy and happiness to the whole place. They truly make you feel right at home. Thank you to Ornella, Carmelo and the entire Mawimbi team for giving us the most unforgettable experience and memories. We hope to return one day and can’t wait to be back on that beach soon!

EVERYTHING about our stay was perfect! My daughter and I stayed 6 nights on this beautiful property at the end of October. The included breakfast was our favorite part of the day! Always made to order, along with fresh fruit, bread, jam, and juice. Dining on the beach was a plus! The property is spacious and beautiful, and we loved all the greenery. The entire staff was friendly, helpful and made us feel right at home. Our room was gorgeous, fit the island vibe, and always smelled amazing! 100% would recommend Hotel Mawimbi!!

Great hotel at the beach with superb service, quiet en very comfortable rooms. When you stay here, you have personal service from all staff in the hotel and bar. You can enjoy the great beach seats, the bar and the restaurant. The staff is very friendly en small details in the rooms make this this perfect stay: well isolated sheets on the beds, great airco, great bathroom. I cannot think of a better place on the Island.

Hotel Mawimbi was the most gorgeous hotel I’ve ever stayed at! I came for three days recently with a friend, and we had the most perfect stay - I wish we could have been here forever.||The staff really made our experience - they were absolutely delightful and really did make you feel like you were home away from home. Everything from breakfast to cocktails to dinner was delicious, and the beach area was the most beautiful place to relax all day. I honestly could not fault our experience at all.||Thank you so much for everything!! We will be back!

Hotel Mawimbi is a very special place. This was our second time visiting Holbox. For this visit I wanted to stay closer to town and I was torn between Mawimbi and Cas Las Tortugas, next door. I ended up choosing Mawimbi due to the other glowing reviews here on TripAdvisor and I'm so glad I did. ||Before we arrived, Marcia upgraded us to an oceanfront room and WOW, we were so appreciative, we lived on the beautiful veranda for the five days we were there. Our room was beautiful and clearly designed with care and attention to detail with the goal of creating a relaxing and romantic environment using organic materials with an eye towards sustainability. Also it smelled AMAZING! All the linens and the room it's self smelled like stepping into an expensive jungle spa. ||The grounds of the hotel are gorgeous and extremely well cared for. Every morning we watched team members comb the sand and even sift different patches to make it extra soft. The daily breakfast was delicious and fresh. ||We met Ornella who was one of the owners and was lovely. You can tell how much love and care she and her husband infuse into the property. ||The hotels location is perfect and situated right next to town, a very very easy walk restaurants and shopping. We ate next door at mandarina, Nana, and in town at Barba Negrs, El Tuch, and Temoc. ||We plan to come back again, thank you again to everyone at Mawimbi!

We were staying at El Corazón boutique but had day passes to Mawimbi. The beach setup there is lovely. Staff are friendly and attentive. Food was excellent. Highly recommend the shrimp ceviche tostada!

A special hotelito of only 11 rooms right on the beach and on the edge of town. We walked past other hotels and couldn't be happier that we found Mawimbi. The grounds are impeccable, the room (Calibri) was immaculately clean. The staff in the restaurant is extremely friendly and professional and their Covid protocol is excellent. Breakfast is included in the rate and is healthy and hearty. We also ate an excellent dinner in Barquito, the hotel's restaurant on the beach. It was convenient to charge everything to the room and the menu variety and fresh ingredients could have one eat every meal onsite. The vegetation, decor and attention to detail like raked sand makes this a special, friendly and relaxing place to stay. Please book at Hotel Mawimbi, the pandemic has taken a toll on Isla Holbox and this is a great hotel to relax and feel safe.

This hotel couldn't be nicer, amazing staff from the amazing receptionist (Marcia)to the servers and everyone in between. Great drinks and food. Super clean, right in front of the water, private and quiet but right in the middle of everything.

This place is a little slice of heaven! I was recommended here by a travel company Loco Gringo and what a great choice. After posting some photos people were saying it looked like I was in a corona commercial. Besides the unwavering beauty of the property the staff was so phenomenal. They truly want you to worry about anything. They make it a point to call you by name and make you feel as if you've been here forever. We booked the whale shark tour through the hotel as well and I highly recommend. Definitely a once in a life time opportunity.

I'll first start off by saying I did not actually stay in a room at Mawimbi. I had the unfortunate luck to lose my ATM card before I arrived to Isla Holbox. Fortunately, I stumbled upon Mawimbi. The staff here was incredibly helpful in allowing me to set up an account via PayPal so that I can enjoy their restaurant and massage. Sulie (sp?) was especially helpful and comforting getting this set up for me, and making me feel welcome. I was able to enjoy the food/drinks at the restaurant, and also book a massage. I found Mawimbi to be a home away from home to relax in a hammock, watch the sunsets, and nourish myself. Everyone staying at the hotel seemed very pleased with their accommodations. I would suggest booking Mawimbi in advance, though. I booked my hotel last minute and Mawimbi wasn't an option. Mawimbi was my favorite spot on the beach...they have it all! I'll be staying with them during my next Holbox visit, for sure.

Holbox is a place to vacation for relaxation and this hotel is a great compliment to that experience. We stayed in one of the rooms, the least expensive choice, and it had a bathroom with shower and toilet, ceiling fan, ac unit, and a closet type area for your things. Also, there is a safe in the room for valuables.Though, the island is so safe and comfortable that I doubt there is much need for it! Our room was a very short walk to the nice outdoor bar and restaurant on site that looks out to the ocean. Many comfortable chairs for relaxing in the sun and plenty of places to sit and grab some food or drinks. From the hotel you are just a short walk to the main town area which has mini markets, restaurants, shops, bike rentals, etc. There's even a clinic on the island that's not very far from this hotel in case you need to see a doctor or get medication. This is a great place to stay!

From the moment we arrived at Mawimbi's palm shaded doors we knew we were in good hands. Jeevyl is so kind and caring. She showed us to our sweet upstairs room and invited us to Barquito for a complimentary cocktail. We were greeted by Francisco, who in my opinion, can do no wrong. His food and drinks were sublime the entire length of our trip. Mango margaritas, pina coladas, ceviche, pulpos... the octopus carpaccio... that man could bring it!! The whole hotelito is so cozy and and charming with nice little touches like shells as light covers and planters... I guarantee you that you will be bringing decorating ideas home with you. The entire place also smells terrific... I don't know if it is what they clean with or some hidden incense, but I always noticed a wonderful odor in the air. Oh, and can we talk about the beach?? Amazing!!!!!! First of all, it is uncrowded... secondly, it is sugar white sand with crystal clear water that you can bask in all day. Do yourself a little favor and walk down the beach in the direction of the flamingos and you will see many fish as you wade or swim. I found baby starfish, as well... and did I mention... you have the beach practically all to yourself??? Yes, I did, but I just had to say it again cause it is AWESOME!! Take lots of photos cause your friends back home will be ever so jealous!! Also make sure to sit out on the beach at night doing some stargazing. You can either sit on the lounge chairs, beds or go to the sweet little pier which is minutes away. So simple, but the amount of stars/constellations you will feel like you can just reach out and touch is incredible!! I highly recommend Mawimbi... and I would go back in a heartbeat... thank you, Onny, Jeevyl and Francisco for making our stay so incredible.

Mawimbi was amazing! My friend and I happened upon this gem by surfing the backpacker blogs, in search of an experience that was true to Mexico and not so "touristy". What we got was above and beyond what we expected. The vibe was truly peaceful, the food was magnificent and the customer service warm and friendly. I would definitely visit Mawimbi again. During our visit, we witness a holy day and the IPAFF festival, which only added to our experience. I wish them the best and I hope that as more tourist hear about this magnificent gem, that they do not lose their authenticity.
