Posada Mawimbi

Had an amazing stay for my birthday! The room was super comfortable—like a little slice of heaven. Staff were so friendly and even added small birthday decorations, which meant a lot. The location was perfect and looked exactly like the photos—no catfish here! Would definitely stay again.

My fiancé and I stayed at Mawimbi Boutique Hotel in June, and we’re still dreaming about it! We booked the oceanfront suite, and it was absolutely magical, waking up to the sound of waves and breathtaking views every morning felt like something out of a dream.||From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcome and at home. Everyone was incredibly friendly, helpful, and genuinely warm. You can tell they care about making your experience special.||The suite was beautiful, spacious, and tastefully decorated with a relaxed, beachy vibe. The patio facing the beach was perfect for morning coffee or evening cocktails.||The location is unbeatable, right on the beach but still tucked away just enough to feel peaceful and exclusive. We also loved the small, intimate feel of the property. It was the perfect romantic getaway.||If you’re looking for a relaxing, luxurious, and personalized stay in paradise, Mawimbi is it. We can’t wait to come back—maybe for our honeymoon next time!

An incredible stay at Mawimbi. We traveled to Holbox for a wedding and had an amazing time. The hotel is impeccably maintained. Super clean. Comfortable rooms. Yummy breakfast. Staff that can’t do enough for you. This hotel has just the right combination of island vibe, comfort and charm. We loved it.

Hands down one of the best hotels on the island. Down to earth friendly owners on site. The staff were exceptional and provided an amazing and personal service. Breakfasts were tasty and were luxury. The views are unreal and really felt like something out of a movie. Look forward to going back.

We did not stay here but we came to the beach club every day as they have a partnership with our hotel. This was definitely our favorite spot on the beach! The beds are so comfy and there is a lot of shade. The drinks are great and the one dish we had was tasty too! Best of all is the amazing service. The team here is so kind and treats you like a friend. They are always available for everything, bringing you a drink, chatting, and even helping take photos. Even if you’re not staying here (or at El Corazon, where we stayed) you can come here for the day for 1000 MXN in consumption per person. I highly recommend coming here! I can’t comment on the rooms though as I did not sleep here, but I will probably plan to stay here next time I’m in Holbox!

What an amazing place! Our first, but certainly not last trip to Holbox and Mawimbi. The hotel is an absolute gem, with its beautiful design, nestled between the softest sand you have ever felt and lush green plants growing throughout. The Restaurant is absolutely fantastic, with an amazing mix of fresh seafood, Mexican and Italian dishes. The staff is wonderful, warm and welcoming. We felt like family from day one. The beach is incredibly beautiful. The owners did an amazing job of not overcrowding the space, so every beach bed has the privacy of your own spot between palm trees while having the option of getting delicious drinks and food served. What impressed me the most, is every detail is perfectly thought through and aesthetic + functional. From the amazing interior & exterior of the building, to the restaurant with an incredible selection of delicious food and drinks served in beautiful dishes, to the beach which is always meticulously kept and never feels crowded or 'touristy' It is truly a paradisical and peaceful spot, and one that we cannot recommend enough.

We checked into Mawimbi after leaving a hotel down the beach that had let us down in every aspect of our stay. They accommodated us very last minute and made our family so comfortable and welcome during the rest of our stay on Holbox. Mawimbi is now that happy place I go to in my head when I’m having a rough day. It’s literally paradise. The most gorgeous stretch of beach and such a relaxing vibe. The included daily breakfast is amazing, service was wonderful (shout out especially to Patricio!), and every staff member we interacted with was lovely. Truly, we can’t wait to get back there next February!! Don’t think twice, just stay here.

Just plain great. We were so pleased that we chose this place. Everything about it charming on the prettiest part of the beach. We had the cheapest room which was simple; boho chic. Could've done with a few more hooks but we made do. We ate more than we would normally in house - the food was excellent. I'm half Italian...the pasta offerings are spot on. Staff were charming. The evidence of the owners meant that every detail was taken care of. We will return.

We were staying at El Corazón boutique but had day passes to Mawimbi. The beach setup there is lovely. Staff are friendly and attentive. Food was excellent. Highly recommend the shrimp ceviche tostada!

A special hotelito of only 11 rooms right on the beach and on the edge of town. We walked past other hotels and couldn't be happier that we found Mawimbi. The grounds are impeccable, the room (Calibri) was immaculately clean. The staff in the restaurant is extremely friendly and professional and their Covid protocol is excellent. Breakfast is included in the rate and is healthy and hearty. We also ate an excellent dinner in Barquito, the hotel's restaurant on the beach. It was convenient to charge everything to the room and the menu variety and fresh ingredients could have one eat every meal onsite. The vegetation, decor and attention to detail like raked sand makes this a special, friendly and relaxing place to stay. Please book at Hotel Mawimbi, the pandemic has taken a toll on Isla Holbox and this is a great hotel to relax and feel safe.

This hotel couldn't be nicer, amazing staff from the amazing receptionist (Marcia)to the servers and everyone in between. Great drinks and food. Super clean, right in front of the water, private and quiet but right in the middle of everything.

This place is a little slice of heaven! I was recommended here by a travel company Loco Gringo and what a great choice. After posting some photos people were saying it looked like I was in a corona commercial. Besides the unwavering beauty of the property the staff was so phenomenal. They truly want you to worry about anything. They make it a point to call you by name and make you feel as if you've been here forever. We booked the whale shark tour through the hotel as well and I highly recommend. Definitely a once in a life time opportunity.

I'll first start off by saying I did not actually stay in a room at Mawimbi. I had the unfortunate luck to lose my ATM card before I arrived to Isla Holbox. Fortunately, I stumbled upon Mawimbi. The staff here was incredibly helpful in allowing me to set up an account via PayPal so that I can enjoy their restaurant and massage. Sulie (sp?) was especially helpful and comforting getting this set up for me, and making me feel welcome. I was able to enjoy the food/drinks at the restaurant, and also book a massage. I found Mawimbi to be a home away from home to relax in a hammock, watch the sunsets, and nourish myself. Everyone staying at the hotel seemed very pleased with their accommodations. I would suggest booking Mawimbi in advance, though. I booked my hotel last minute and Mawimbi wasn't an option. Mawimbi was my favorite spot on the beach...they have it all! I'll be staying with them during my next Holbox visit, for sure.

Holbox is a place to vacation for relaxation and this hotel is a great compliment to that experience. We stayed in one of the rooms, the least expensive choice, and it had a bathroom with shower and toilet, ceiling fan, ac unit, and a closet type area for your things. Also, there is a safe in the room for valuables.Though, the island is so safe and comfortable that I doubt there is much need for it! Our room was a very short walk to the nice outdoor bar and restaurant on site that looks out to the ocean. Many comfortable chairs for relaxing in the sun and plenty of places to sit and grab some food or drinks. From the hotel you are just a short walk to the main town area which has mini markets, restaurants, shops, bike rentals, etc. There's even a clinic on the island that's not very far from this hotel in case you need to see a doctor or get medication. This is a great place to stay!

From the moment we arrived at Mawimbi's palm shaded doors we knew we were in good hands. Jeevyl is so kind and caring. She showed us to our sweet upstairs room and invited us to Barquito for a complimentary cocktail. We were greeted by Francisco, who in my opinion, can do no wrong. His food and drinks were sublime the entire length of our trip. Mango margaritas, pina coladas, ceviche, pulpos... the octopus carpaccio... that man could bring it!! The whole hotelito is so cozy and and charming with nice little touches like shells as light covers and planters... I guarantee you that you will be bringing decorating ideas home with you. The entire place also smells terrific... I don't know if it is what they clean with or some hidden incense, but I always noticed a wonderful odor in the air. Oh, and can we talk about the beach?? Amazing!!!!!! First of all, it is uncrowded... secondly, it is sugar white sand with crystal clear water that you can bask in all day. Do yourself a little favor and walk down the beach in the direction of the flamingos and you will see many fish as you wade or swim. I found baby starfish, as well... and did I mention... you have the beach practically all to yourself??? Yes, I did, but I just had to say it again cause it is AWESOME!! Take lots of photos cause your friends back home will be ever so jealous!! Also make sure to sit out on the beach at night doing some stargazing. You can either sit on the lounge chairs, beds or go to the sweet little pier which is minutes away. So simple, but the amount of stars/constellations you will feel like you can just reach out and touch is incredible!! I highly recommend Mawimbi... and I would go back in a heartbeat... thank you, Onny, Jeevyl and Francisco for making our stay so incredible.

Mawimbi was amazing! My friend and I happened upon this gem by surfing the backpacker blogs, in search of an experience that was true to Mexico and not so "touristy". What we got was above and beyond what we expected. The vibe was truly peaceful, the food was magnificent and the customer service warm and friendly. I would definitely visit Mawimbi again. During our visit, we witness a holy day and the IPAFF festival, which only added to our experience. I wish them the best and I hope that as more tourist hear about this magnificent gem, that they do not lose their authenticity.
