"In the market for antique wooden children’s shoes from the Basque region of France? How about hand-painted cups and saucers for your next afternoon tea? You’re in luck; P.O.S.H. has you covered. Its name is derived from the acronym, Port Out Starboard Home, which described the most ideal and luxurious traveling preferences for passengers voyaging between England and India. On the Grid : Alapash

"One of our favorite shops, right on the edge of Lincoln Square/Ravenswood. Alapash is a curated home goods store with unique odds and ends and a focus on terrariums, plants, scents and tapestries. And it’s just a nice place to be on a Saturday afternoon. They have a beautiful selection of air plants and succulents, with well-designed pots or trays to put them in. They carry a line of Campfire Incense and our favorite is the Siskiyou—it really does smell like a campfire. The hand poured Rosemary Mint candle is also great. We love everything they carry for our own home, and it's also the perfect place to pick up a gift for a friend. Also check out the shop next door, District, grab some coffee at Groundswell Cafe or go for a stroll in Winnemac Park, just up the street." - Knoed Creative

I’m so happy we stumbled upon this store while nearby in Chicago. It’s full of antiques at all different kinds of price points. Some lovely small trinkets and in my opinion, the best place to buy gifts. There’s something for everyone here.

Google
Posh Chicago is a delightful antique shop that my wife totally didn’t drag me into during our trip. I have to admit, it turned out to be pretty cool. The shop is full of unique small antiques that even someone like me—who doesn’t know a thing about antiques—could appreciate. While my wife was on a treasure hunt, I found myself admiring the charm of the place. If you’re in the area, let your spouse drag you here—you might actually enjoy it too!

Google
I love this place they have the coolest stuff and every time you go in, there’s something new. It’s a beautiful store too. I would recommend taking the train or bus there though, because there are not many parking options. But that’s to be expected of downtown Chicago lol!

Google
I love this store and wish I could live here!!! Every nook and cranny has a piece tucked away ready for you to find. Pieces are not cheap, but also not too expensive. Lots of items ranging from vintage and antique but also new consumer goods that still fit the vibe. Will definitely be visiting again.

Google
You can find antique silverware and kitchen supplies. It’s a great time for my family to encounter this decent shop.

All things Britian. Decor, dishes and gorgeous items for your kitchen and dining room table. Items for children. Beauriful gift ideas. Beautiful posters of London. Fabulous shop. Staff is very nice. Plus located in an amazing building. Support small business.

Google
This is one of the cutest antique stores I’ve seen. I definitely recommend checking out their jewelry section as you might find some rare beauties. Overall feeling of the store is vintage. Makes you feel like you’re stepping into a 1960s tea time :) absolutely love it. You can also get a cute shots of yourself there as well.

Google
A precious little gift shop, with so many ornaments, dolls, trinkets, and items to elevate your life. My personal favorite is the tiny cheese boards. 🧀

Yelp
We came in to browse at the holiday gift ideas around Thanksgiving holiday season. It was full of people in the store. It was really fun looking at what they had on display. Really got me into the happy holidays mood! So many cute things !

Yelp
Such a fun spot -- tons of amazing Christmas ornaments, french themed items, and beautiful home decor. I think this would be a great spot to pick up gifts and window shop. It looks amazing from the outside and continues to be a lot of fun to stop in on the inside too.

Yelp
This store is by far one of my favorites in Chicago. Curated so uniquely and the products they offer are candy for the eyes. There are affordable and very expensive items there to choose from. A must if in the area.

Yelp
This store is absolutely amazing and is a must stop for everyone. Not only is the merchandise carefully and beautifully curated, but a visit to the store is a magical experience because every is displayed with painstaking care and detail. You'll find a variety of things to choose from, antiques, jewelry, gorgeous dishware and decor items. Most of all, the staff are lovely and so helpful. I visited the store a few weeks ago and the experience just put me in the best mood. Make sure to go, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I could have been in here for hours looking at all the amazing goodies. Everything is so well curated and displayed. This shop is French themed, so all of the items are pretty fancy and, well... posh! Unique items that make great gifts for anyone- trinkets, tea, soaps, and so much more. I bought birthday presents for a close friend as well as things for myself and a friend in Japan. There are multiple items imported from France, and even a few made just for this shop. It's a special, magical place and I highly recommend that anyone heading to Chicago check it out. It's a MUST.
google avatar

Troy E.

Yelp
They have the best Christmas ornaments every year Doesn't feel like a store you will find in any mall.

Yelp
P.O.S.H has been here for forever and I always pop in when I'm in the area. It's mostly kitchen and/or Parisian items. There's really beautiful pieces here. It was busy for a Friday afternoon which I love seeing! The 2 gals behind the counter were eager to help explain the tea: Mariage freres. If you know, YOU KNOW. It's tea straight from France. It's in the pricey side, but absolutely delightful. I walked out with a tin of that tea as well as a teeny bowl.

Lindsey G.

Yelp
If you're going to mark things up so much, at least offer some sort of sale. The employees are lovely, nice to chat

Yelp
This is a lovely shop!!! So many interesting items from vintage to new! They have little trinkets, linens, dishes and so much more. I was out for an afternoon with a friend I had not seen in months. We went to the store to browse and my friend wanted me to see it. As we were shopping we were talking and laughing about old times. The four women working kept giving us looks and were so unfriendly it made us wrap up and leave. We weren't being loud, we hadn't had a cocktail, we were just reminiscing and enjoying the shop. I ended up buying something small but honestly almost walked out without anything!! There was no need for the rude attitude and ugly behavior from the women who are supposed to be in the business of customer service. Don't know if I'd go back if that's the vibe. Very disappointed.
google avatar

Christina S.

Yelp
If you love everything French and are of any age you MUST visit P.O.S.H! Upon entry patrons are dazzled by the colors and the sights of Eiffel Tower Dish Towels, to French Valentines Chocolates from Maxim's in Paris, to French Mustard in a crockery, to mini French wooden mustard spreaders and spoons for the kitchen, to cookbooks, honestly it IS like going shopping in Paris-both new and vintage items. The staff was incredibly friendly both times when I shopped there recently. My items were individually wrapped with care and placed in their signature red bags. What a truly unique French experience in Chicago! Gifts appropriate and classy for everyone!
google avatar

Lauren W.

Yelp
If you're looking for gifts, this is the place! They have a mix of vintage and new items. Very eclectic feel! They had an amazing variety of Christmas ornaments when I visited in the November! I noticed a lot of China, home decor, books, etc. I wish I took more pictures inside! If you're struggling to find the perfect gift, I'm sure you could find something here!

Yelp
Wandering around the area, I was stopping in to some shops as I passed them with no real agenda. I noticed this store and went inside. It's super cute, with a very European flair. Lots of French and British influenced items. They have lots of kitchen things, decor, and gifts. The whole store was chock full and lots to see in every corner. It was a bit overwhelming to me but I enjoyed looking around since it wasn't too crowded with people. I also liked the paper flower display in the back. The overall vibe of the store was cozy and cute - not really my own personal aesthetic, but I liked checking it out.

Brittany F.

Yelp
I'm a WOC this is a dusty store full of garage sale items at designer prices . Owner / store associate was shady. The items I purchased had stickers for one price that I definitely saw /checked as I shopped and before I left my items at the counter and as I handed them to the worker I noticed her peeling the stickers off but I didn't think too much into it . I walked away from the counter to keep browsing came back and checked out , the total was more than the total of what the prices originally said even with tax added and I went to double check the prices and ALL tags had been taken off now it made sense why she was peeling the stickers off she literally charged me 50% more on each item than what was originally listed which I know because she had the audacity to give me an itemized receipt that didn't match the prices of the stickers she tore off when my back was turned. There are so many better, cleaner, more organized and authentic "antique" shops in Chicago with leagues better pricing and none of the deceitful business tactics

Yelp
I purchased two silver spoons and one water glass about 2 weeks ago. The glass has just cracked. I haven't filled it with hot water, just room temp water and occasionally cold milk. If the glasses were meant for decoration, a sign or stipulation from the sales clerk would have been ideal. Otherwise, it's a magical store with attentive service.
google avatar

Kathy M.

Yelp
Love this place! Cutest ornaments and cute European flair! Great place to come Of looking for something unique as a gift or for your self. I always buy their ornaments each year too add to my Collection.

Yelp
Do you like French things? Are you a Francophile? Do you love beautiful home decor, kitchen items, vintage? Then you have to stop here! An amazing store with beyond friendly proprietors. Stop in and go local! You won't regret a stroll through this gorgeous shop.

Yelp
POSH was absolutely delightful!! I was in town for a weekend and we stayed close to this gem. I'd been following their Instagram account for awhile - which is also worth checking out, and their website - so it was on my list to check out. Now it's on my list to go back to! The shop had a lot of character. I could have walked around and looked at everything for hours. The displays in this shop, like the one in my photo, were all so charming and inviting to peruse. The products they sell are of great quality. So many things caught my eye! We purchased a spread knife and a small, stone colanders. I'm very happy with these additions to our kitchen.

Yelp
Super cute place. Perfect to bring visitors of the city or if you're visiting the city and want a cute little gift shop to browse. Lots to look & and nice people that work there.

Yelp
Another incredible trip to Chicago to kick off the holiday season at P.O.S.H.!!!! The BEST holiday decor and gifts, new awesome flavors of Mariage Freres tea and breathtaking jewelry!!! Lisa and crew are so welcoming and able to help even when the place is packed with customers!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Great selection of unique items for sale. The inside is decorated nicely and very clean.

Yelp
My daughter found this store and brought me to it. What a magical place to walk through and look at all the beautiful things. There is wonderful smelling lotion, beautiful tea towels, ornaments and decorative items. I found a cool gift book about cocktails with recipes as well. Dish ware can be found here of all various kinds. During the Christmas season there was so many beautiful decorations. Some French items are unique. So happy we found this place!

Art S.

Yelp
Love to shop here. Could stay in the store for over an hour looking at things. I bought a nice weighted tray table and love it. Really good quality. Price is a little steep, but totally worth it for the unique feeling of the piece your taking home. 4 not 5 stars because sometimes the associates are not very welcoming.
google avatar

Richard B.

Yelp
I absolutely love every nook and cranny in this fabulous shop! From cookbooks to candles, silverware, napkins and everything in between. The owners are a delight as well. They definitely know the meaning of, "State Street - the great street"!
google avatar

Florence G.

Yelp
A glance into this store and I was mesmerized. A chandelier of teacups, have you seen anything like this. So much flair and unique little things in this store. Make sure to drop by to experience a little piece of culture in Downtown Chicago!

Karen S.

Yelp
Visited POSH recently as we have many times since it opened....as usual, so beautifully decorated and stocked with great everything. Always find something fun and/or useful for ourselves or gifts for others. Love Mariage tea and jewelry and seasonal goodies. Lisa and her staff are wonderful - super friendly and helpful. Can't wait to return when back in town during the holidays!
google avatar

Bryon W.

Yelp
Really cool store with tons of unique items. We purchase a few of the holiday mice to add to our Christmas tree
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place it's great for vintage barware and unique one of a kind gifts. Was referred by a few friends and have been back multiple times since. Last time I bought some vintage champagne flutes. I have received gifts from here as well, and always unique very neat stuff! My girlfriend got me this great glass from England with a picture of the queen! Stop in for your next gift and grab something special. Happy Holidays~

Yelp
P. O. S. H. carried rare and interesting dishes from old hotels and diners that closed. I think they were going for a "saved from the Titanic" vibe. That was when they used to be next to the Musicbox Theater. This new location looks less dusty and has interesting items wherever you look. Dishes, maps, and knick knacks that would make good gifts. So much stuff to explore. The dishes that caught my eye were made in the USA, so be a patriot and come to P. O. S. H. Back in the day I bought 4 martini glasses with sturdy fat stems. One broke but that stem was not even cracked. Alas, they don't have any stock from 20 years ago.
google avatar

Yelp
Super SUPER cute store. Prices a tad high but hello it's Downtown Chicago on State. Go back when you really have time to browse. Lots to see. :)
google avatar

Yelp
Such a beautiful selection and display of European treasures I could have stayed hours!

Yelp
Really a very nice French-inspired kitchen/bath shop for notions and unique items. For some reason I had trouble finding them on YELP ... but finally did at: https://www.yelp.com/biz/p-o-s-h-chicago-3. This is a neat and unique place that has numerous items you'll not find at the usual sites. We went in looking for something for our hard-to-buy-for daughter and we were not disappointed. Found a few things and they wrapped them wonderfully. Would not hesitate to go back. Neat place ... but needs an-easier-to-find YELP presence. Try it.

Yelp
I think my parents were on to something--by choosing French spelling of my name that I would grow up to fall in love with France. There is so much to look at here, from gorgeous French kitchen linens and accessories to French antique jewelry and china. And not all is so French--I loved the Chicago-themed kitchen items and the pancake-inspired breakfast dishes. There's even a nice selection of kids gifts too. The whole store is so stylish and each item brings a bit of warmth or whimsy. I could spend an hour here easily. I ended up buying Green Eggs and Ham and One Fish/Two Fish, both beloved Dr. Seuss books, but written in French for my son. And the pretty Champagne plate that you can see in my pics. Looks like me, oui?--hahaha. The folks working here are so kind. They also seemed to enjoy the fact that I was excited about each item I looked at and/or purchased. I can't wait to visit again when the seasons change and during Christmas. This boutique is perfect for gift shopping or to find something special for yourself. Merci, P.O.S.H!

Chris B.

Yelp
This was the best stop we made in Chicago. They have such a fun assortment of items. So fun!
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
Amazing. I love this store so much, I literally plan my visits to Chicago around going here to see what fun surprises they have! This trip I picked up some awesome antique and reproduction knife rests I didn't know i needed, but fell in love with as soon as I saw them. All sorts of serving ware, Paris-inspired bric-a-brack, and an utterly charming, eclectic mish-mash of foods, teas, soaps, books, jewelry, stationery, china, flatware, and random finds. It's a true one-of-a-kind store (especially once a similarly themed store in Boston -- LouLou's Lost and Found -- closed in Boston years ago.) Go. Browse. Smile.

Princess B.

Yelp
This place is absolutely adorable. It's thoughtfully curated, beautifully merchandised, and fairly priced. I'm always so impressed by their displays, and it's easy to find gifts for people who love a vintagey aesthetic here. P.O.S.H. is a great place to take your mom shopping on Mother's Day. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Curt S.

Yelp
I've bought things from this shop going back to its original location on Southport. Stopped in to look for something particular and was treated like a shoplifter by the older gentleman. Don't do that.
google avatar

Kate M.

Yelp
I can't believe it took me so long to check out this adorable little shop! P.O.S.H. has a variety of home decorations, tableware, trinkets, gifts, jewelry, and antiques. Lots of fantastic French things to decorate your own home or give as a great gift to a friend. I recently picked up some tea towels to use as wall decor in my kitchen, 'cause who doesn't need a tea towel sporting the Eiffel Tower and a tower of macarons on their kitchen wall? You can find restaurant quality dinnerware, ranging from the cute and whimsical to classic and vintage. I could spend a lot of time admiring the silver and antiques (but the longer I admire the more chance of spending all my money). The store is set up perfectly, it has a great flea market meets antique shop feel. The staff are helpful but in no way pushy, which is good when you're taking your sweet time looking at everything. I realize it's only February but I have to admit I'm really looking forward to seeing what the holidays look like at P.O.S.H. Of course, I'll be stopping back a few times between now and then...
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
I came in here yesterday for the first time and was absolutely blown away. The window displays alone are worth gawking over and the attention to detail this store provides is overwhelming. You really have to do a few laps to really notice all the unique items they carry and even then, I bet if you did another lap you'd find something else that catches your eye. I could not leave empty handed and ended up with the cutest hand towels for my kitchen. The store was mostly Christmas items as it is December but I cannot wait to see what they have in stock during my next visit which will have to be shortly after the holidays. If you're a local or visiting from out of town, this store is a MUST see- you won't be disappointed!!
google avatar

Ann S.

Yelp
So many great items that are one-of-a-kind. Found locket earrings for friend-- she loved them.
google avatar

Alyssa R.

Yelp
Fact: I want everything in this store. Loved the flea market feel of the place, makes me believe that there are endless possibilities. And there are - so. many. unique pieces sprinkled throughout the shop. My favorites of the day included the jars and dishes made of blue milk glass and the "pancakes make people happy" plates. I'd be happy to have both of them in my kitchen.
google avatar

K W.

Yelp
Love this little local gem. They've got their Thanksgiving and Christmas items out, and I see quite a few presents.
google avatar

Robert S.

Yelp
Hands down one of the most beautiful and selective shops in the Midwest. A Francophone's nirvana; a knickknack's pleasure dome. For me: one of the only places in Chicago where I can walk in and always find something to purchase--big or small, no matter what my state of mind was or cash flow is, for me or a gift for a friend. Wonderful French and French-inspired cookery and dining ware is the primary focus, sold by easygoing shop ladies (and an occasional shop guy) with unpretentious attitudes and calming ways. This is a perfect spot to stop in during a lunch break if you're in the area. Look in the back of the store, and notice the large rear window with a view of the courtyard of the Arts Building--a real treat on a sunny day. Absolutely one of the most charming shops in the area.
google avatar

Brittany S.

Yelp
Yelp rule: Any store that sells vintage maps for $5 receives five stars from moi. Most of the maps are of European cities and countries and make for beautiful wall art (other than having odd European measurements that often lead to expensive custom framing). My favorite was the one I bought on my first visit that features the world's most famous landmarks side by side with measurements. A majority of the items in the store were European-inspired. For example, they have Christmas cards in French and kitchen towels with the British flag. The prices are a bit high - obviously this excludes the maps, but whether you're looking to buy or not it's a magical shop.
google avatar

Tabitha D.

Yelp
This is a cute little shop. They had a variety of trinkets and fun gifts. A lot of french things you can take home and enjoy. I liked the decorations and how the store was set up. This boutique is fun and i like that its something different on the magnificent mile. Its next to a tea shop and was a nice place to step in and look around. Though I liked a lot of things i saw, nothing caught my eye enough to buy. I dont think I would go back.
google avatar

Jon C.

Yelp
A friend wanted to come into POSH on a recent trip to Chicago, and I'm glad she did because I found some excellent items for some of the people on my Christmas list. First, I think most of the items in the store are a bit overpriced. I forced myself to keep looking around though, and I found the 1950-style maps of Chicago, New York and Paris that I thought were reasonable. Some of the items weren't marked with a price at all, but every time I had a question, there was an associate close by to ask. While a cute store worthy of a repeat trip, I wouldn't make too much of an extra effort to go out of my way to stop back in.
google avatar

Vivian D.

Yelp
P.O.S.H is a cute little vintage shop! It is in the more expensive side of vintage finds, but it is a great place if you want to get a present that is special and unique. Some very sweet plush dolls and vintage toys for kids. The staff is super friendly and helpful. If you like vintage boutiques, it is definetely worth to check this place out.
google avatar

Julie M.

Yelp
Cute boutique shop in the Magnificent Mile neighborhood with unique goods. But I think prior Yelp reviews did me dirty... Amazing review after review of the business caused me to go in with very high standards. I previewed their offerings online, and thought I would be impressed with the breadth of variety... They included a vintage leather satchel, am elegant rotary phone, an antique wine decanter, glassware from the 1940's, books, etc. My expectation was a well curated French thrift atmosphere for the *whole home*, accentuated with thoughtfully selected new items to replace missing items or complete a look. In reality it's a French/Parisian kitchen/dining store with a heavy emphasis on related cookbooks. In my estimation, the store is 75% new items with a smattering of vintage items throughout. Staff was quiet as we wandered around, and really only solicited interaction with their greeting as we entered the store. They were not overbearing. Would I come back if I were in Chicago again? Maybe. It had a nice feel to it, I simply thought the contents of the store would be very different.
