I want to start with some positives: the staff was very nice and accommodating, the service was great (coat check, welcome drink, etc.), and the atmosphere was lovely. However, I have never been more disappointed in a meal. When we ordered the mixed grill of fish, we expected fresh Venetian seafood, but instead were served what was practically rubber on a plate, advertised as the “fresh catch of the day.” It was basically inedible — it had a strange smell, no real flavor (and I eat fish often, so I know what fresh fish should taste like), and was extremely chewy and rubbery. For €40 per person, this felt like highway robbery. It got to the point where I said something to the staff, and to their credit they understood after some back and forth and offered to remove it from the bill and replace it with another dish. We chose not to order more seafood and instead got the veal cheek, which was mediocre, but for a place presenting itself as a seafood restaurant, this experience was extremely disappointing. Also, to make matters worse, we now both feel quite sick afterward.

Awesome place and atmosphere! The service impecable, very friendly and the food delicious. They prepared the Tiramisu in front of us and it was very good. A bit pricey, but it is totally worth to try at least once when you visit Venice.

A local friend recommended this spot to me. It’s tucked away behind a fish market, so it can be a little tricky to find, but once I stepped inside, I instantly loved the atmosphere. I ordered the raw bar platter, it was fresh and beautifully presented, and the squid ink pasta was absolutely delicious.

There is one staff, the food is delicious, and they also have a welcome drink service. They are very kind. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very good, but the entrance is a bit difficult to find because if you are not a local, you probably won't know this restaurant because you have to pass the fish market.

This place was amazing!!! The service, the atmosphere, and the food were all excellent. I’d recommend trying to venetian appetizers! Every servers were extremely nice and treated you like royalties. They even had a welcome drink and complimentary dish to try. Don’t miss this place when you’re in Venice!!

We had an absolutely wonderful lunch at Poste Vecie. The food was outstanding from start to finish, excellent antipasti and truly delicious pasta, all prepared with great quality and attention to detail. The highlight was the dessert: a homemade tiramisu, freshly made right in front of us, which was such a special touch and tasted incredible. The service was top notch: professional, attentive, and perfectly timed without ever feeling intrusive. The restaurant itself is small, cozy, quiet, and beautifully charming, making it a perfect place for a relaxed and memorable meal in Venice. We will definitely come back!

The food was not great - expected fresh Italian seafood and what we got was overpriced chewy lobster. Sat to a really loud table and were moved when complained about it. If you’re thinking about coming here to taste Italian food? I recommend you pick elsewhere! Even after leaving most of our meal, we were still charged full price. At €150, I’d expect much better!

One of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had. We got the grilled sea bass, spaghetti with cuttlefish ink, and the ravioli for dinner and it all tasted incredibly fresh and each bite was like ascending to heaven. For dessert we got the chocolate cake and the white chocolate pudding and both were excellent as well. This place is an absolute must try!

Poor poor poor service. When questioned about slowness caught an attitude and lecture by our waiter. Served by seven different people throughout the night. Should have just walked out. In addition real hot inside. No a,c., no fans. No spoons with the sphagetti. No removal of dirty plates until we were eating the next course. In summary a disgusting way to treat customers

One of the things that my husband and I like to do is to find the oldest restaurant in whatever city we are in and go for dinner. In Venice, it was the Poste Vecie Restaurant. A wooden bridge spanning a canal connects an area of the Rialto fish market with this historical 16th century building. We read that In the 1500s, there was already a tavern here, where the Venetian mail carriers sorted letters and missives over a glass of wine. The restaurant is loaded with charm and character with frescoes on the walls, tastefully furnished and bold colors. We requested to be seated in the dining room with the large fireplace and we were. We were warmly greeted upon our arrival. Dario quickly appeared and served us complimentary Prosecco - what a lovely touch! Mannes, our server, was delightful and attentive, as was all of the staff. The restaurant offers only homemade pasta, and their fresh fish is provided every day from the Rialto fish market so that you are assured of the best quality and freshness. One of the dishes that the Poste Vecie is proud of is the real Venetian fegato alla Veneziana (liver in Venetian way), which I thoroughly enjoyed . The liver was very delicate and was served over polenta with the onions. My husband ordered the Guanciale di Vitello (Veal cheeks) and roasted potatoes. Even when all the tables were full, we could still have a conversation. This is a restaurant worth visiting. It is elegant and peaceful.

This place should be on your list if you are going to Venice. The oldest restaurant in the city, in a beautiful location, not super touristy. The outside patio is small and romantic. The staff is friendly and very helpful with advice. They serve you champagne as you sit and a little bread basket. Remember you're in Venice so get the seafood! We started with a shrimp carpaccio then had the sea bass ravioli and the crab meat pasta. Everything was delicious and we paired it with the house white wine (one of our tour guides recommended to always get the house wines - she was right always good). We asked our waiter for a dessert recommendation (I can't remember the name of it- but again did not disappoint) it was a coffee catalan dessert thing. The only negative I can stay about this place is we had a little trouble finding the entrance but they let us through the kitchen with no issues! Overall, delicious, affordable, and in a beautiful location with history. Definitely add it to your list.

I saw this restaurant on an Andrew Zimmer show and saved it on my list of must visits. A year later here we were and if you don't eat here you missed a gem. Service was good, food was great.

This was a lovely romantic spot next to the fish market in Venice. The food and atmosphere was top notch. My wife had the mixed fried seafood, which she loved. Would highly recommend for a romantic dinner in Venice.

This is one of the best places in Venice. The service is great, the restaurant atmosphere is very nice and the food is fresh and delicious. A good restaurant to have a real and complete Italian dinner.

They give you free champagne as you sit down. The menu has all the classic Italian dishes with an emphasis on seafood. The staff is very friendly to Americans and service any requests.

This claims to be the oldest restaurant in Venice - and one can believe it, though I would imagine there is some competition! It is quite hard to find - over its own small bridge right by the fish market and looked very inviting on this colder, rainy evening. The main room is indeed quite cosy, wood lined, packed with pictures and old letters hanging on the walls. Prosecco and bread came free with the seemingly obligatory cover charge. After the build up, the food was a little disappointing. My sole was ok but average, slightly compensated for decent chips (well, I told you it was a cold rainy night!). Despite the rain and the hidden location, the restaurant soon filled up which helped the warm atmosphere. But there are so many better places to eat in Venice; despite all you hear there is good cooking to be had if you look.

This place was AMAZING! The history was amazing! Food was good and service was on point. The seafood spaghetti was some of the best I have had. I can't wait to come back next year

Great place for a lovely birthday luncheon. It is reportedly the oldest continually open restaurant in Venice. The memorabilia on the walls is fascinating. The menu is very nice and each course was well prepared, presented and thoroughly enjoyed. Would look forward to returning info again.

The oldest restaurant, but not the best. We went to this hard-to-find with restaurant with high expectations. Unfortunately the so-called "garden" area is not a garden, but is enclosed in glass and we found the interior rather dark and gloomy. Service was friendly. Food was average.

The worst place ever been over the last couple years. Food was not seasoned at all. We had only 2 appetizers (41 euros !!) and decided to leave. When waiter asked if we liked -- we responded with sincere answer of NO and explained why. Guy decided to convince my wife that she is wrong...told me that he does not understand "underseasond" and "bland" words...all they had to do is to apologize. If i could rate it ZERO -- I would do that. Avoid and do not waste your time, money and spirit of amazingly beatiful city -- our evening was spoiled completely!

This place is a little hard to find, which for us made it all the more special and fun. For the first course we had gnocchi with lobster, which was incredible, and the Poste Vecie spaghetti, which came with so many varieties of seafood and a delicious sauce. Then we had the monkfish and branzino, both of which were very tasty in different ways. We couldn't help ourselves and got three desserts: tiramisu, eggnog ice cream with pistachios and chocolate, and pear cake with orange and chocolate. All were very good, but the eggnog ice cream was out of this world! It was pricy, but we got a lot of food. Prosecco and bread was included in the cover charge (3 euros). We really enjoyed the relatively inexpensive bottle of house white wine (16 euros). The atmosphere was lovely and intimate, with candles and flowers at the table, and the servers were very attentive and we had someone to pour out wine and clean the fish table side.

We did a free walking tour and our tour guide spoke volumes of how great this spot was. Ironically (or not) it definitely felt like a tourist trap. Not to mention after sitting there for 20 minutes we never were helped ( even after flagging down the servers). Cool history, but we decided to get up and leave.
