Posthotel Achenkirch (Achenkirch, Tyrol) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Set on a working horse and livestock farm just north of Achen Lake in Austria, Posthotel Achenkirch combines luxe, adults-only resort hospitality with age-old alpine tranquility. The massive, well-appointed spa includes a “sunken temple” sauna experience, perfect for unwinding from their roster of all-season sports and activities. Rooms riff on the Tyrolean chalet rubric with acres of natural wood, quality linens, and bright views of the mountainside pastures in every direction." - Tablet Hotels

We liked the hotel very much. There were activities, the sauna infusion was very nice, the facilities well maintained, the food was very good a lot of options, good ingredients and also quality matcha. The manager was very attentive and friendly. We had one issue that was solved. It's definitely worth coming back.

Good food and fantastic spa. However, this is no way a five star hotel. The pictures of the hotel give the impression that it is in a secluded location with fantastic views. It is not. My room had a view of a roof a gutter and a wall. No air conditioning meant having the balcony door open all night while roasting in the heat with the added discomfort of smelling people’s secondhand cigarette smoke. The staff is either uninterested or not empowered to resolve issues. When I asked for some slippers for the spa I was told they no longer offer them due to ecological reasons but somehow they’re for sale. That’s not an ecological problem, that is a financial problem. I didn’t find the property to be very transparent in their advertisements or dealings with customers.

A beautiful high-end hotel in the Austrian Alps. We spent 3 nights at this hotel which turned out to be a perfect choice for a short relaxing vacation. We were impressed with the vast pool, sauna and wellness areas which beat everything else I've seen before. The breakfast was delicious with lots of healthy options and very friendly staff. The dinner was also top notch and the restaurant is beautiful and cozy. We booked a room in the Schlössl section. It was comfortable and spacious. Unfortunately there's no ventilation or air conditioning in this part of the hotel which meant the room was quite warm during our stay. The furnishings in this room are very traditional which might not be ideal if you prefer something more modern. The main disappointment was the Atrium spa where I had booked a facial treatment. The treatment was not worth the money spent, the lady performing the treatment was also not that friendly. Other points for improvement I'd suggest: - The rooms were missing some amenities like hair conditioner and slippers which should be a given at a 5 star hotel. When asked about slippers, the receptionist informed me that I can buy flip flops for 20 EUR. This was very unusual and something I've never seen anywhere else, they should just have free slippers in the room. - Turndown service in the evening is only available upon request, it should be included by default - The guided hike to Zöhreralm was great but it would be nice if the guide could also provide some information about local nature, culture, history, etc.

We were a group of 4 adult family members and we had an excellent time at the Posthotel. The staff were warm and welcoming and. nothing was too much trouble. The food is excellent and there are lots of menu choices for people on vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free diets. The waterworld and sauna domains are well planned and extremely clean. There is reasonably good ski-ing close by that is within walking distance. The hotel offers a reduced rate for a daily ski-pass and we bought our passes from the hotel. Unfortunately, we did not realise that there was a reduction for a 3 day pass at the ski centre so it would be better to buy a multiple day ski-pass at the ski-centre.

To start with, Posthotel Achenkirch is an amazing place, location wise and facility wise. It defines itself as SPA hotel and designed for relaxation. Its water & sauna worlds together with its diverse SPA combined with country and mountains views provide a full framework for relaxation. ||It is located 1.5-hour drive from Munich airport (north Tyrol area) in the North of the Tyrol area very close to the Achensee, one of Tyrol’s famous lakes.||If you arrive during the day, you will get a tour of the resort, and it is worthwhile and important as there are many places in this resort worth experiencing.||This is adults only resort and suited for us in that respect as we came for one week vacation. The resort has many types of rooms, so it is important in advanced to understand what room you are getting and where it is located as the resort is big. We made our reservations via booking and it went well although the names of the room are not identical.||We took the Sonnberg Studio room. It is a very big and comfortable room (like a mini-suite) although old in terms of furniture. This is one of the rooms with mountain view which makes the stay even better. A king size bed and a lot of space to move in, I liked the separate blankets which were not staffed into the bed – well done. One of the disadvantage of this room is the lack of enough sockets for electricity and in a better location. Obviously, free WiFi (as it is standard today in all hotels of this level). Bathroom (both bath and shower) is big and very comfortable. ||Breakfast was very good and rich with many vegetables variety, same for cheese, sausages and pastries and with very high awareness to lactose free and gluten free. A special room only for fresh juices of oranges, carrot or any other fruit you can think of and in addition big variety of amazing bread types. One of their morning specialties is the huge amount of tea variety although you can also get any coffee you like. To summarize, breakfast is great. If you are under the B&B arrangement you can enjoy the lunch free light (healthy bistro) they have in another place of the resort.|Dinner is a ceremony by itself as it has two options on a daily basis. A la Cart or Buffe. Dishes are mixed but mostly designed like in a chef restaurant. It is quite unique to hotels. Dinner is expensive. We chose one evening to go out to one of the restaurants offered in Achenkirch which was nice and much cheaper. |Nice concept is the fixed table. When you arrive first time to the dining hall you get a table that stays with you for all your stay. It is nice in respect of getting knowing better you waiters, and them knowing you. Make sure you get a table you like 😊||Obviously, a big lobby area with a very nice Bar to spend the evenings (in addition to local guests music entertainment)||The resort has, on a daily basis, a set of activities organized by the hotel staff all around sport, wellness and relaxation. That is in addition to the world of water and Sauna which are open all day. The Sauna world is an amazing area in terms of facilities. Many Sauna “rooms” (dry and steam) with ceremony every day in one of the dry Saunas. I strongly recommend not to miss the Sauna world - it is one of the highlights of this resort. ||And I didn’t mention the big Dojo they have as the resort has a lot or far east oriental atmosphere, the horse stable and a very big and well equipped fitness center.||Staff service is great whenever we needed them or asked them for help, they always did that with full collaboration and willingness. ||Few reservations: -|- Even though the staff is trying very hard, English language is a barrier here. I wouldn’t like to say it is not a user-friendly place for non-German speakers but be aware many of the activities are only in German and some of the staff is struggling with non-German speaking|- I paid for my week stay for two rooms thousands of Euros. It is a bit pettiness they are charging 6€ for bike rent (it goes to 10€ if it is more than 4 hours). I admit the biking facilities are of high quality and very well maintained, but really? ||All in all the hotel is very welcoming and very recommended, the combination of facilities, experience, landscapes, closeness to nature and food, all together give you excellent experience; obviously you can imagine it is in the high range of prices.

Top hotel, we love it and go as often as we can. This year cigarette smoke ruined my wellness experience. My clothes even began to smell of smoke and my bedroom. The smoke travels up from the pool area which is full of people smoking in the sunshine. They should be away from the hotel and sadly the smoke even goes into spa area itself . Totally destroyed wellness vibe.
