Pot Daddy Studio

This outdoor home studio is so great to learn and get accustomed to pottery regardless of experience level. This was my first time on the wheel and I had enough time to get comfortable and even throw up to four items. Katie is a great and very patient instructor that walks you through all of the steps to make very basic bowl shapes. This studio is unique in the way they allow you to glaze and take a piece home that you did not create. Yes it’s not ideal to not have what you made but it saves so much time in the process and not needing to return weeks later to pick up an item. It’s a great idea- highly recommended for any kind of date or group outing.

This was such an awesome experience!! This was the perfect side quest for my friend and I. Our teacher was Katie and she was phenomenal!! Everyone in our class was super nice and enjoyable! We will definitely be coming back😌

This was a super fun and super informative experience! Our instructor, Katie, was phenomenal. She explained steps along the way and was present and engaged during the class. We had time to make a FULL three pieces and after the first round she walked around and provided guidance as requested/needed. She clearly explained how to center the clay and I walked away from the whole process feeling like I had a blast and learned the basics! We would absolutely do another class. Side note, the place is a total vibe. The dome out back and music along with the whole ambiance. Note: you will not leave with the piece you make due to drying/firing time and leave extra time to park and get your bearings. 10/10 experience.

Just perfect! Beautiful location with a welcoming and rustic feel. Annalee did a great job of providing just the right instructions at the right time. She also knew just went to step in and put her decade of experience throwing pottery to good use. Allowing you to craft a piece that looks beautiful, despite it being your first time!

This place is perfect for an evening getaway or quality time with friends or family. You get to learn and create your own pottery in a clear dome in nature. I highly recommend you try it. The instructors are super helpful and friendly as well. Great vibes! I will be back

Amazing experience and very unique idea! Located in the woods, the setting is beautiful and calming. We got to work on pottery wheels, which was so much fun and surprisingly relaxing. Our instructor, Jeremiah, was absolutely wonderful. He was patient, knowledgeable, and encouraging every step of the way. His clear guidance made the whole process enjoyable, even for beginners like us. You can tell he’s truly passionate about what he does and genuinely cares about helping everyone improve their skills. Whether you’re a seasoned potter or a complete novice, this studio offers something special. I highly recommend giving it a try – you won’t be disappointed!

10/10 recommend! Katie was phenomenal and her class was so informative. There was plenty of time to complete three pieces. Learning how to prep and center the clay and complete a piece from start to finish was so helpful. The atmosphere was beautiful and relaxing. They also partner with Patrizi’s where you take the piece you bring home in for a free drink. It’s a three minute drive and definitely worth the stop on the way out!

This place has been on my list for months and I was so so glad to finally have been able to go! I had a little trouble getting into the parking lot for this place as it's uphill and small. Additionally, parking on the street was also available. When we got to the site, it was an shift of vibe. Everything felt incredibly peaceful and relaxing. We arrived there around 40 minutes early so we had a good amount of time to lay around. There was a cozy house that had a couch for guests to enjoy. In that same house, there was a changing room where we could change into our attire. Once it was our time, we headed to a dome like clear structure where the class would take place. There was about 8-10 pottery stations equipped with all the necessary materials. The instructor was so helpful and engaging. She would teach a section then she'd go around and help everyone and she truly transformed each piece. Once completed, we had the option to start another piece. Afterwards, we got the experience to also glaze pieces. Since our freshly done pieces need time to dry, we got to pick other pieces to glaze. This was also a cool opportunity and I really enjoyed this process. Lastly, once we were all done, we paid ($50 each) and headed to the completed pieces to be able to take one home. The best part about this all was that this felt like a community, getting to see what others have created. The concept is such a unique experience and I hope that I'll be able to stop by with more family and friends. Great experience, I highly recommend it!!!

Pot Daddy Studio is such an Austin gem. I love that you get to take home a piece immediately, and I personally love the community aspect of seeing everyone else's beautiful pieces and knowing that yours will go home to someone else as well. Katie was such a sweet and patient instructor, and our group was so fun! It was a rainy day, and it was so therapeutic. Branding is adorable, and this little space is just perfect. Parking is a little difficult once their small lot fills up, but I would come here all the time if it was closer up north.

Pot Daddy is a DEFINITE must-try in the Austin area! The studio was a nice, igloo-type structure at the location, which had about 8-9 pottery wheels. It was so great to learn how to spin the pottery wheel and create a work of art! LOL! The instructor was great and she explained the process, provided assistance and taught so many tricks and tips! Ready to make more pottery! Although you didn't have enough time to have your work of art go through the kiln and take it home, they did let you pick a different, completed work of art to take home. You also had the opportunity to glaze another piece of pottery for the next students. It was such a great experience! They also do not charge for the session, but allow you to make a donation to keep things going. So cool and sustainable! Don't miss out on Pot Daddy if you're in the area!

Had the most amazing time at my first pottery class at Pot Daddy Studio. From booking til the class itself, everything was so tastefully and professionally done. For starters, the class itself is based on donation, which is unheard of in the city I live in. The owner uses his home and yard for the classes. The group was made of about 10 of us which was perfect. Arrive, change into coveralls and grab crocs if desired, there's also a restroom available. After picking a seat, there are instructions given and you get to work on your clay! We had a chance to make two pieces which will be given a home at some point in the future. We did have an opportunity to glaze pieces that other participants made and even took home a finished piece, again, all donation based. I loved everything about this and would come here often if I lived in the area.

This concept is incredibly cool - I love that the owner John decided to turn his house into a passion project to share with the public. Walking in, I was super impressed with the yellow-ness of everything. I loved the yellow van and the pottery dome. The concept is really cool, I like their no waste philosophy. So you can make a piece or two with clay, glaze someone else's work and take another piece home. The instructor Katie was very hands on and helpful throughout the clay portion which was great so that you could actually make something useful. I wish that the glaze portion had more time allotted to it and more freedom. You get to choose between two colors but it would have been better to have more and perhaps painting instead of just dipping. Overall though it was such a fun experience!

I had such a blast at Pot Daddy! I went in with the mindset to just "let it flow" and that's definitely the right way to do it. What I didn't know was that you actually don't get to take your pieces home but have the option of grabbing one of the older pieces that have already been glazed. You get unlimited 'blobs' on clay that you can play around with for about an hour and a half. Very relaxing and the leader (I can't remember her name, but she was AWESOME) was super helpful and helped make the experience even better. When you arrive, it may be a little hard to find because it's surrounded by other houses, but they do have some signage to help. While you wait for the whole group to arrive, they have a seating area in the house and jumpsuits for you to wear so that your clothes stay clean. They also have crocs for you to wear or you can go barefoot. You then go over to the dome, get a demonstration and then get the freedom to create away. I went by myself but great activity to do with girlfriends or on a date! After your time is up and you clean up the stations, you get to go to glaze a piece so you can learn about that process and see what the next step for your pieces will be. They then have a table of pieces that have been glazed in different colors if there is something that you want to take home. DEFINITELY an experience that I would both recommend and will be doing again.

Seriously the coolest pottery studio in Austin, can't wait to return! Parking - there is parking in front of the property and along the street. The studio is in a neighborhood so just be mindful and respectful of the neighbors. They have a cool concept where you get you participate in throwing your own piece, painting another person's, and then taking home another one! Love the concept but worth noting it you would rather take home what you make. Beautiful environment and space, our instructor was really friendly and helpful and I loved the overall vibe. Will 100% return :)

Such a fun concept while also learning a new skill. I went to Pot Daddy on a Thursday and managed to snag the last 2 spots for my friend and I. I think they should update their instructions on how to find them as It was in the back of a residential house making it difficult to find. Nonetheless my friend and I had a great time learning the basics of pottery and attempting to make something ourselves. Our instructor was very helpful and even though you don't get to leave with what you created, you still get to go home with something other customers have created. I like the concept of it and it's donation based too.

It was a cute experience, but it's probably a one off for me. Concept is: "Donate" $50-75 for a class to mess around with clay in a pretty dome in someone's backyard. Then glaze someone's piece - you only get one color option so hopefully you agree with the other people in the class. Then take a different piece home from their collection of rag tag/beginner level items from the front. While I appreciate the "let it go" philosophy, there was only about 1 or 2 items out front our class even liked.. Granted, it was a step up from how they used to have it - where you'd have to book a "glazing session" a few weeks out. They have some kinks to work out, but I like the concept! I hope they do well.

This was an awesome way to spend some time in a different headspace other than the daily grind. If you want to do some inner work on letting go of being a perfectionist or find some peace working a piece of clay, this is a great 2-hour experience to help you. The whole experience for me was about "letting go." Let go of perfection, let go of all other thoughts, let go of stress, let go of self-judgement. Even the fact that whatever you create, you must let go. But there is a beautiful reward for letting go, you get to select a piece that someone else left behind. Over 100 different pieces to choose from. Trust me, you will find something that calls you. All the staff is very friendly and helpful. The staff has done well to fashion an environment that is conducive to creating. We had a great teacher and before you knew it, we were indeed creating! Great team building activity, date night, or just go by yourself. Highly recommend!

Very neat pottery studio with a cool dome concept outside that has the wheels for throwing. I do wonder how it is in summer. It's a donation based studio with suggestions for donations per person. You can book drop in slots for hand building, wheel throwing, glazing, or a membership that I guess allows you to use their equipment at scheduled times. I like that it's pretty easy for beginners since someone will center the clay for you though I think so that everyone gets most use of their time that the clay should have already been centered for everyone before class. Some people had to wait to get theirs centered. All in all it was such a chill nice experience.

This was a really nice experience. The property was well maintained and had a cute hippie vibe. I love how they embraced sustainability in the way they recycled water and attempted to keep costs down in the way the pottery was maintained. Annalee was our instructor and she had a wonderful personality. She explained things really well and also answered everyone's questions. The aprons, jumpsuits and crocs were very helpful. Yellow is my favorite color so my opinion may be a bit biased but I loved all the yellow decor. The drive up had great views and I loved that the dome where the class took place also had AC. I would definitely come back!

Really cute, super fun, and easy to do for somebody who is brand new to the wheel. Had so much fun.

Set up was cute but teachers were strangely rude at times. Think they are working on creating a "good energy" environment there but it does not feel that way. They do not organize work from the class so the pottery may or may be there for pick up.
