My husband and I were celebrating our honeymoon in Providenciales. This was our second time on the island and we never heard of PotCake Place K9 rescue.
Prior to leaving for our trip, our church had us begin a 28 “cleanse” of everything that could be distracting in our life & to be more present in the moment so we can hear better of what God is calling us to do.
When arriving to our villa from the beach on day 1, my husband and I began talking about fostering a dog when we got home to the states (we have been talking about adopting another dog for 2 years). We were in the kitchen getting something to drink, moments later, 2 island dogs appeared at our sliding glass door of our island villa. Now like I said we have visited before, and never once saw these dogs on the property. We fed them and gave them company and then they ran off.
The next day, as we were eating breakfast in the morning, a small cat appeared, super friendly, just wanting food and love.
The day after, another friendly cat appeared.
If we had been on our phones or distracted with the TV we would have missed these visits from our fury island friends.
That’s when we realized that this is more than ironic, this was a message from God. So we began looking up rescues and found POTCAKE Place. We saw they allowed walking dogs from 10-1230 so we decided, why not let’s go spend some time with these babies.
We arrived to POTCAKE Rescue and there are SO MANY PRECIOUS PUPS, that are just yearning for affection and love. The staff is so incredibly nice and sweet and they take really great care of these babies to the best of their ability and resources. They don’t pressure you for donations and genuinely just want the pups to be loved and socialized for a small period of the day. It helps them out immensely when you’re able to take a pup out for a little while and the pups love it too!
We got to walk “Bo” who we now call Kaico-Bo and instantly fell in love with her. We knew right there from the first walk, that she was meant to be ours and we instantly fell in love. Before the walk, the rescue gave us a little bag with treats, toy, water and water bowl and poo poo bags for our 3 hours together.
POTCAKE Place helped us in every way on getting her home to the states with us but they definitely did their due diligence and made sure we were absolutely 1000% sure we wanted to take her and keep her forever.
FYI- There is a new CDC regulation requiring the puppies to be 6 months old prior to adoption and travel into the USA. This is causing a massive build up in the volume of dogs at POTCAKE Place and they are having to turn some pups away because of the lack of room. I urge you who is reading this to sign the petition to the CDC to reverse this regulation due to island being a rabies free island.
After much discussion & preparation with the help of the rescue, Kaico-Bo is home with us, with her new American Eskimo brother and her Staffy Bull Terrier sister & loving every minute in her new home & loves doing zoomies in her new backyard.
We can’t say enough great things about this organization. Please donate to their wonderful cause!!
There are so many island dogs on the island that have no homes & no one to love them. There is massive development on the island as well, as we heard that the property owners are finding liters of puppies in bushes and brush and killing them because they don’t want dogs on their properties. It’s so devastating but this place tries to help as much as they can & gives these poor angels a real chance. Any donation big or small helps the rescue take care of these babies.
POTCAKE Place you are forever a part of our family & we can’t thank you enough for what you do for these sweet fury angel babies.
Thank You God for opening our eyes free from distractions and leading us to POTCAKE Place because now we have our new special POTCAKE girl, Kaico-Bo.
We are forever grateful!
