3 Best Day Trips from Berlin to Hamburg, Leipzig, and Potsdam | Condé Nast Traveler

"Hotel am Jägertor's mint-green exterior is charming in a quaint, Old World kind of way—though its location, right across from the Jägertor Gate, is what really sells it. The hotel is also within minutes of Potsdam’s main shopping streets, and only a 15-minute walk to Sanssouci Park, though it's a bit of a hike from the train station. Rooms are small but blissfully silent; they're also well stocked with an armchair, desk, and small balcony overlooking the hotel’s inner courtyard. The bed is comfy, too, with a cozy duvet and a couple of well-fluffed pillows." - Liz Humphreys

Lovely hotel and well situated for the old town - very friendly staff lovely room and nice bar. Nice old style decor but all new and sparkingly clean. I didn't have the breakfast buffet but I looked in at it. Seemed really nice. I definitely recommend this hotel

Great boutique hotel. Was fully booked but never saw other guests and never felt crowded. Rented bikes from the front desk which was a great way to see the city. Service was above and beyond—great staff. Rooms were cozy and a/c made it very comfortable.

I loved my stay at Hotel Am Jägertor. The service was great, staff were so friendly/helpful/accommodating, and the rooms were clean and well appointed. It was also so beautifully decorated. Highly recommend!

This hotel is superb, I have nothing but praise for it! On entering you find a very impressively decorated building with tasteful furniture. The welcome from staff is professional and genuine. The rooms are also wonderfully decorated, looking rather majestic and of good quality. The bed was extrememly comfy and enormous. Everything you could wish for in a room was provided, including tea/coffee, complimentary mini bar etc. Lovely view of an inner garden that must be a delight to sit in duriing the summer months. The hotel is spotlessly clean. Breakfast at €21 is not cheap but an excellent variety of food is available including vegan options. There is no restarant in the hotel but as the hotel is very central, there are many top quality restaurants within 1 km. No wellness/gym on site. Rather a quirky underground car park (only space for about 12 cars, €20 per night). There are options for onstreet parking in the vicinity. Will definitely make a return visit.

Excellent location for visiting all that's interesting, in Potsdam, with a pleasant view from our room on the front of the hotel...the efficient double-glazing blocked out any noise from the traffic. It is close to recommendable restaurants and shops and the trams and buses are accessible within a short walk. The hotel is well maintained, tastefully furnished and all areas are kept clean at all times. Our room was comfortable, again interestingly furnished and the heating/air-conditioning worked well. We appreciated the room safe and the complementary bottled water, which was replenished every day. Both the breakfast room and the bar area were light and airy...and had it been warm enough, in the morning, we would certainly have sat on the delightful garden terrace.|Breakfast was not included in our booking and at first. threatened to be rather expensive for us vegetarians who usually start the day with just fresh fruit and yoghurt; however, the variety of food offered, here, ranks with our top 3 favourites and we were tempted on all five days of our stay. Really impressed to find such a good selection of fresh fruits, roasted vegetables, soya yoghurt, vegan patés and particularly an incredible selection of proper loose-leafed teas, rather than teabags! Service was professional and friendly and displays were replenished regularly.|Nevertheless, a hotel stay is all about staff and service and the staff, here, deserve a special mention. From our arrival until our departure the service was faultless in every area. Every query or request was dealt with immediately, efficiently and in the warmest of manners. Special thanks to Stefan, Tony, Marcus, Michael and Katryn for making our stay such an enjoyable one and we look forward to visiting again.

Beautifully restored hotel, BUT too many issues! Listed as having an airport shuttle which turned out to be a 225 euro cab ride! Called for information on shuttle before booking but was on hold for 25 minutes and gave up. Elevator to the 2nd floor no problem, but then had to haul my luggage down a long flight of steps to get to my room. No parking for on loading and off loading at the hotel entrance. Had to haul my stuff up a number of steps to get through the front door. No assistance available. Only espresso is available in the room. Great location but not sure why anyone would stay here! "Twin bed" so narrow the only twins that could fit would be joined at the hip. NO available outlets at the desk to charge computers and phones! This is the 21st century! What were they thinking?!

We had a couple of nights here in late June. Stayed in a superior room, lovely views with balcony overlooking the gardens at the rear of the hotel so very quiet. Nice reception area quick and friendly check in, staff friendly and knowledgeable about local area. Breakfast was excellent taken in a spacious dining area with patio doors out to rear garden area. Plenty of choice all fresh and well prepared. Great staff. The room although I thought a little small for a superior was comfortable a super walk in shower very clean and well presented, bed very cosy great nights sleep. Ideally located for walking to numerous restaurants bars and cafes. Also 5 minute walk to the hop on hop off tourist buses. Definitely recommended for a few nights stay to check out the Potsdam area. I have been to the town several times but always seems to find something different to visit whilst there.

Classy and so convenient for all the attractions - although it was just one night it made an excellent impression! Attractive and welcoming place to stay. No hesitation on recommending it - top notch even down to the products in the bathroom and lots of lovely local places to eat within 5 minutes walk (top tip is breakfast at Kaffeerösterei Junick - the eggs Benedict are to die for!)
