Pousada Califórnia

Retro review. Stayed here 2008, was lovely. Like a piece of paradise at that time. Food, pool, room, drinks, people 😊. I still remember it now, and was just searching Google Maps to make sure it was still there!

Great place in perfect location. David, who is one of the owners, is a really nice guy and helps you with everything, which is really important if you are not Brazilian and don't speak Portuguese. The breakfast is really good and you also have free fruits all day long! All the additional services like ordering a meal or the mini-bar are very reasonably priced. We were there during the World-Cup games and the atmosphere was great, all the staff were very nice and welcoming. Highly recommend.

In January My husband and I stay a week in Pousada California. It was a perfect stay. The personal in the reception were so smiling, polite and helpful. And we met Steven, the owner, in the breakfast area, every day. He was helpful and kindly and it was easy to talk to him. He is a gentle man.|The breakfast was very good. The Pousada has a good atmosphere and we enjoyed every minute.|We had a superior room with view to the ocean. And the common area was nice with relaxing furniture.|For us traveling with hand luggage the laundry service was excellent.|We will be back, |Thank you Steven and Thanks to all of you for making our stay so good||Best regards Jon and Anne Lill from Norway |||||||

Pousada California is a nice small hotel in the centre of the village and closed to the beach. The staff is very helpful and the breakfast is very good, with fresh fruit juices and great coffee. The small bar serves delicious caipirinhas and the whole atmosphere is very relax. Some rooms still need to be renovated, but the beds are comfortable and the shower works perfectly. It was a very relaxing holiday, enjoying the kilometres long beaches, the buggy trips, the fresh fish and the layback atmosphere in this village. It is not a quiet place, but you are in the middle of the Brazilian way of life. The most tourists are also coming from Brazil. We will go back!

We stayed 1 night. The room was basic but adequate. The centre courtyard around the swimming pool is very nice. The manager speaks English and was very helpful. Breakfast was excellent. The location is close to shopping, restaurants, and a short walk to the beach.

The Hotel is in two locations opposite each other on a quiet road. The Other side to us had a small pool which we didn't use. Our room was quite dark and the air conditioning was so noisy we couldn't use it at night. I cannot comment on the other rooms. The Location was quite good being one street from the main restaurant street and one street from the beach. The included breakfast was extremely good.

We were lucky enough to stay in Pousada California for nearly a month and loved every minute of it. David (manager) makes the pousada. I could not imagine it without him. Friendly, helpful and sincere. Lovely staff and amazing breakfast. I highly highly recommend this Pousada for couples and families.

We selected this pousada because of the many excellent evaluations on TripAdvisor and LonelyPlanet (2010 edition) recommendation and spent three nights in room 32.||The reception was kind and the Dutch manager polite and hospitable. ||The infrastructure of the building and room has become slightly outdated and needs renovation and refurbishment to keep up the pace in my view. ||Next to that, our room proved to be quite noisy (buggy drivers with 200 decibel boosters passing by, crowing cocks staring at 04:00, screaming cats in heat).||The self-service breakfast was fair, nothing extraordinary compared to other pousadas I spent the night at during these travels. ||Generally, despite being called "pousada", this place is size-wise rather a hotel and as consequence lacks the personal touch of a pousada.||If there were a next time I would visit Canoa Quebrada, I would look for alternative accommodation.
