My review title is correct but incomplete: this place is charming, and would well be worth the visit in any beach town, but it is also the ONLY place to stay in Santo Amaro with more than an ounce of charm. The rest of the places we saw were loud, cheesy, neon-lighted affairs - Ciamat is makes do with backwoods Brazil resources but keeps it classy with cute common areas, GREAT service, fantastic food. If you can reserve one of their few (5?) chalets, you will, however, pay a bit more, and give up some (pointless) creature comforts - there are no TVs or frigobars, the wifi is spotty, there may be frogs in your shower, and you should probably just give up on the sand and go barefoot. In the end, these are plusses, as the Neapolitan owner, Fulvia, and her two sons, Thiago and Mateo, are ever-present (and dedicated to avoiding the usual timing frustrations for their clients), the caipirinhas are cheap and delicious and the sunsets over the river-side beach are stunning.
