The Convento do Carmo may have a few faults but the opportunity to sleep with history.....colonial construction, high ceilings, courtyard, balconies, wood floors and staircases, friendly ghosts...in a centuries old former convent should not be missed.||I doubt the the original residents enjoyed A/C and meals served pool side but you can.||If you believe that over consumption is a sin, perhaps you should skip the tasty breakfast. Not to be overwhelmed by the choices presented, it did my best to sample all the delicacies but did not succeed. Give it a try yourself. Afterwards you can swim or take a morning nap. ||Rooms upstairs are larger and more comfortable....at a small increase in cost.||Management responds to problems without delay. When a ground floor water pump faltered one morning, we were given access to a second floor shower while the pump was quickly resolved. ||We slept well, ate well and.....well...on the way back from the Chapada Diamantina, stopped for a second stay rather than continuing onto a Salvador airport hotel.
