Pousada da Mangueira

The best place to stay in Salvador! Not your usual and cold hotel experience. Pousada Mangueira has offered me and my family a warm home to stay our holidays. I loved everything about this place: location, service, style... but what truly made this place special was the team. Cláudio, Jorge, Gabriel and Gabriela at the reception thrived to inform us of all good things to do around and what to stay away from. They received us and really wanted us to feel welcome and safe. The room service team, that also provided us with the most fabulous breakfast, made us feel like in grandma's home: very well fed and looked after. I loved the fact that they sat there with us and had they breakfast/lunch, had nice conversations, as if we were visiting our best friends. The facilities, such as pool, garden and room, are absolute top notch. I wish I could live there! The most comfortable bed ever, we did not want to leave early at all. The location is great, we worked up and down that hill, enjoying as if it was a workout with a view. I mingled among locals and although it is a very tourist area, the warmth of local people made us feel like we belonged there. I will most definitely return there and recommend to anyone visiting Salvador, please stay at Pousada Mangueira. Ps: I did not have the opportunity to do it so, but make sure to book a cultural tour with Cláudio at the reception. He is extremely knowledgeable about Bahia culture and will take you to an amazing adventure.

Great pkace to stay at the hart of where you want to be. Great breakfast, good rooms, very friendly staff. Best choice.

This is a very interesting hotel. At one point it was a hostel but now it is a normal B&B. It has grown organically over time. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and all spoke English. It seemed like there were quite a few Europeans there. The breakfast is outside which is quite lovely. There are nice views of the historical city center and the garden is very pleasant. It was surprisingly quiet, given how close it was to the Pelourino. It is very close to the SENAC lunch buffet, the Amado Foundation museum, the Balet Folkloriko, etc. The downside is that you have to go down a pretty steep hill and then up a pretty steep hill to get to those things (a river used to flow between the hills). Our hotel was billed as a double room and I was sort of expecting just a full size bed but it seemed to be a king, although the flip side of that was that there was very little extra room in our room.

One of the best place to relax and the best part is the pool it's sometimes cold and sometimes worm but out of all the breakfasts are good 5 stars ⭐

The rooms are beautiful, the staff routinely look to go above and beyond and the courtyard area is lovely and the pool is fantastic. Just a 5 min walk from the tourist centre. Seriously punches above its weight for a $50 per night hotel. 10/10

Lovely hotel very close to the old town. Rooms and view of the old town were great and breakfast was lovely too. Gabriel made us feel so welcome when we arrived and was also really helpful with advice around the city!

After 28 hours of non stop traveling with no sleep and a taxi ride from hell from the airport to the pousada, we could not wish to end up in a better place! The staff was great and took good care of us until the room was ready. Its located very near historic quarters just a few minutes walk. The room was fine and the bed was amazing :). Pool was nice, breakfast good .. we loved the place ❤️
