Pousada do Castelo de Óbidos

I stayed here one night with my wife on our honeymoon and we were impressed with how friendly the staff were, from leaving a bottle of sparkling wine in our room to offering to take our luggage to the parking lot. The views from the hotel’s castle walls are UNMATCHED and definitely better than the rest of the areas open to the public. The rooms are clean, spacious, and the air conditioning was excellent. I’d say the food is pretty traditional, old school, but still tasty and fits the castle ambiance. The breakfast buffet was very extensive. This is a must-stay in Óbidos if you have the budget. Dining inside a castle already feels magical, but Juliana made the evening truly unforgettable. Her service was attentive, kind, and full of genuine warmth. The ambiance—historic stone walls, romantic atmosphere, and a sense of history all around—set the stage for a beautiful meal. The food was absolutely delicious, with every dish perfectly prepared and presented. Thank you, Juliana, for elevating our night in such a special place!

Being a regular visitor of poussada's I invited my family to visit OBIDUS and stay in the castle. We booked three rooms.||There are a number of issues that need immediate attention. The access to the castle is truly cumbersome. And although there is a possibility for pick up, it took us 30 minutes (as announced) for 2 people to get on the cart with the luggage. The others had to walk. Nothing against walking but the cobblestones are very difficult to walk as the road climbs.||Arrived at the castle the struggke continues with yet more stairs to climb. Reception was nice and courteous.||The rooms were an unpleasant surprise from all aspects. There was a smell of humidity. The rooms were dark with very little illumination as if we were in the times of the candles. This was very bad in the bathroom.||The size of the rools was miniscule. The equipment if the rooms were minimalistic with no dressing cuoboard, but instead a rack. No place for shirts or linnen.||The maintenance of the rooms was bad and not clean. Always this smell of humidity.||There was no bar but a few sitting areas. No service for drinks even after requesting at the reception. ||The restaurant was nice. Food was excellent but clearly a lack of staff as they were racing from one end to the other. Waiting times about 45 minutes between the dishes.||The criticism is above all base on the price per room; some 250 euros per room. This poussada is not of the usual standard that we are used to.

We visited Óbidos during the annual medieval fair, and stayed at the Pousada for convenience. What a unique experience indeed. Rooms are small but have all the modern amenities. Service staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is decent. Price is on the high side, but worth it for a memorable stay.

Location is absolutely beautiful. However the hotel itself was not what one would expect for >200€/night for a standard room. Rooms were pretty old, ours didn’t even have a shower (only bathtub), no gym, spa or any amenity you might expect.

The food and service was excellent! Juliana was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our service. She gave us recommendations and they were spot on. The highlights of the night were the filet mignon and the Ginja ice cream! The ice cream was absolutely heavenly. The multiple textures were so amazing!

Lovely location with outstanding views!! To have breakfast in a magnificent castle is quite a delight especially when the dining room is under Juliana’s watchful eye. What a lovely smile first thing in the morning before a climb around the castle grounds and town of Obidos

We stayed in this hotel one night in Fernando room.|Excellent experience. Nice stuff in the hotel and in the restaurant. We parked near the town wall, and they sent stuff to pick up our luggage and bring it to the room. We also had very nice dinner in the castell restaurant. |Room was very clean; all amenities were good. Breakfast was excellent.|Of course, this was on expensive side but was worth every penny.
