The owners are very kind and they treat you like their guests. They prepare you a stunning breakfast with a variety of fruits and cakes, coffee, juice and a lot of good chatting. They're very willing to help you with anything you need. Thank you, guys, for this amazing hostage.

We had a lovely stay at Pousada Esmerelda, Natalie and Marco are wonderful hosts and it made our stay in Salvador - the Pousada is in a really interesting neighbourhood and lovely to spend evenings there. We had a lovely big room for the four of us and the Pousada has interesting art and unique decor. Highly recommend.

Extremely kind and helpful hosts, Marco spend a long time helping us activate a Claro SIM card (not an easy task) and finding the best rate to exchange currency, while Nathalie gave us lots of advice about the best things to see in Bahia. The location is great, its in the Peulorinho district, which is the most beatiful part of the city, there is police on every corner and many artistic restaurants and shops. The breakfast is homemade, they offer many fruits as well as eggs and coffee. We really enjoyed our stay.

The best experience. Natalie & Marco are the loveliest couple who treat you with the affection of a family. Breakfast is a delight with great variety of fruits. Very comfortable. The location is great, 5 minutes from Pelourinho. Highly recommended!

My 2 friends and I stayed at Pousada Esmeralda for 1 night - although it was a short stay, Marco and Nathalie made a big impression. They treated us like family, gave a lot of great recommendations, and made a delicious breakfast (the best we’ve had on our trip so far) - they also kindly accommodated our request for an early breakfast as we had an early morning bus to take! As for the pousada itself - it was very charming, rustic and clean and only a 15-20 minute walk to the centre of the old town. Our room was perfect for the 3 of us and even had a small balcony and hammock which was lovely to watch the birds from in the morning.

This Pousada has exceeded our expectations by far (even though we read the positive reviews beforehand)! Nathalie and Marco were outstandingly friendly hosts. With their warm and welcoming attitude, they made us feel comfortable the moment we arrived. They gave us advice on what sights to visit in Salvador and provided hints to interesting alternative cultural events. Moreover, they knew a lot about the region: In our case, they provided different recommendations for our next stay on our journey, the Ilha Boipeba.||In the morning, we had a delicious breakfast with home-made marmalades and cakes in a very familiar and relaxed atmosphere. ||Our room was nice too, with comfortable beds and tasteful decorations. And: Very, very clean. We left Salvador in the evening and could keep our room until 8 pm on that day.||The location was great too: It's located in the old part of the city and very close / in walking distance to the main sights of Salvador. In the evening, we went out by foot since this part of town is safe. In the neighbourhood, there are bars with nice live music and restaurants with good food. ||Thanks Nathalie and Marco for making our stay so enjoyable!

Esmeralda and her husband were super helpful and treated us very well. We will not forget your stay. And learned how to bake bolo the tapioca :)

We stayed for 4 nights at Pousada Esmeralda and everything was perfect. Its location is in the Santo Antonio district, part of Salvador's safe-for-walking Historical Centre. The room was spacious, clean, and nicely furnished, the WiFi was good, the breakfast was excellent, and we had fresh towels every day. Best of all, owner Marco is an exceptional host who takes wonderful care of his guests. He speaks several languages (including English, French, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish), is a font of information about what to see and do in Salvador, is a good conversationalist, helps with transportation plans, and really makes the extra effort to ensure that his guests have a good stay. For example, one day he drove us to a local market where Candomble ceremonial items are sold and gave us a personal guided tour around the market. In summary, we highly recommend Pousada Esmeralda and hope we have the opportunity to stay there again sometime. Thanks for everything, Marco!
