We enjoyed our stay here. The location was great because it was close to Barra Beach and nice restaurants that were all within walking distance. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast was great. The staff was very accommodating and made you feel at home. For our first trip to Brazil, we were thankful that the staff could communicate with us in English and gave us a lot of helpful tips in getting around the city. I highly recommend this place!

We felt here like home. I spent more than 10 nights in this pousada and definitely we will returned. It is located 3 minutes walking distance from the beach and from the famous museum -Light House called Farrol de Barra. We walked safely every morning along the beach, joining a huge crowd of locals that walk, run, or bike by the beach around sunrise. ||A nice, huge mall is located within walking distance from the hotel. ||All rooms have private bathrooms and AC. ||This Pousada also have the best breakfast, served from 8 to 12, so one can enjoy the vacation time. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

It's the people who make the place, and this pousada easily deserves 5 stars for its staff. Sean the owner and all staff members are extremely nice and helpful, and go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. |Being a minute from the beach and from some of Salvador's best restaurants, the location is also fantastic. Breakfast is great as well. |Unfortunately, it is the structure and infrastructure of the building that make this lovely place less attractive. 4 of the rooms are located just above an open staircase from the reception and kitchen (and a 5th room is just next to them). This means that when the reception phone rings at 6:30AM, or when someone moves dishes in the kitchen at 7AM making lots of noise - you easily wake up. And I could live with the nuisance of not being allowed to throw toilet paper in the toilets, but recurring problems with the hot water are just annoying - I had a problem on my first night that was quickly fixed on the next morning, however on my last night - again I had no hot water in my room.

The managers were extremely polite, helpful and friendly. Their advice for getting around the city was invaluable and was a great introduction to Brazil. They both spoke good English. The guesthouse is just 4 minutes walk from the beach at Barra, a superb area of promenade and sandy beach. The breakfast is delicious and the bedrooms are quiet (quieter at the back). A great place to stay.

I stayed for two weeks with a group of college students. We could not have been happier with our choice. The rooms were comfortable with lots of closet space and good comfy beds. But I think the highlight for us was, along with the warm hospality of everyone who was part of Estrella, the hammocks. On our down time, the hammocks were always there for us. ||||The breakfast was superb and was a luxury that I will definitely miss: After all, freshly baked cake, just out the oven, first thing in the morning, is not an indulgence many of us are privy to on a regular basis. But rest assured, the cake comes with eggs, bread, freshly squeezed juice, ham, cheese .... It was a welcomed feast to help us start our long and challenging day||||But most of all, the staff is wonderful. Nubia. Daniel, Juao, and all the rest of the staff where wonderfully accommodating and hospitable. They were always helpful with Ubers and varios suggestions. ||||Estrella is in a great location -- just a quick bus ride down to the historical district in a lively and safe location -- right on the beach with lots of restaurants and a happening street life. ||||If you are looking for lurury, this is not the place for you, but if you are looking for a clean, simple, but cute little B&B, you can't do much better than Estrella. ||||Thanks for taking such good care of us everyone!

Sean and his staff are the most welcoming hosts one can imagine. Extremely flexible and helpfull. We really felt at home here and the location in Barra is also great. The breakfast is the best you will have had in a long time!|We had troubles with a delayed flight, they were very flexible. |Very very highly recommended.

This pousada is run by Sean of Ireland (and a proud Salvadorian) and his able manager Nubia.||I have nothing but respect for Sean and Nubia for being the nicest guides and hosts. They are truly engaged in the guests' well being. From airport pick up to small yet important details about the hood and the larger city... They are there to ensure a pleasurable and secure stay.||||This is a clean spot. Guys clean is important in the developing world!||||The breakfast is better than anywhere ||Try home made jams , tapioca, pão de queijo, omeletes and fruits but above all Nubia and her staff and their warm smiles shall win you over.||||Sean is there like an orchestra conductor ensuring that music flows beautifully...and beautifully it flows ....||||Enjoy!!!!

Pousada Estrela do Mar is smartly situated; not far from some the beach, museums and restaurants. Anything further could be reached with Uber or a Taxi for a reasonable amount. The staff was always helpful and kept an eye out for our interests. For example, Nubia took the initiative to ask us if we wanted concert tickets (she was already purchasing some). This is just one example. Breakfasts were good with quality coffee, fruit and baked goods. The staff took notice of what we liked and didn't like and soon our breakfasts were customized for us. Sean, the owner, proved to be a great friend and also offered us great tips and insights. He's a top notch ambassador to Salvador.
