Were it an ordinary backpackers with respective rates you possibly couldn´t complain too much, but it isn´t. Here we go: Room tacky and rather dirty, room service managed to change bedsheets, but that was about it. Bathroom in bad repair, though the basics were working (a plugged sink was repaired by late afternoon). Poor painting job. On the other hand, there was aircon, which was a bonus (though about the only one). Breakfast okay. Reception friendly but rather casual about pretty much everything and not overly helpful. Common area small but in an acceptable state. Wifi working. Room-TV not. With rates equivalent to a German 3-star-hotel, poor value and thus not recommendable. Yes, it´s conveniently located, but so are the 6 or so other pousadas in the neighbourhood. It might be worth checking out if those are even worse. If so, that would explain why the Lonely Planet chose Pousada O Ninho as their "pick" in the midrange segment for Salvador´s Barra district in their latest "Brazil" guidebook. Nope, we were not satisfied. Not at all.

I ended up having back aches for a week because of the horrible beds in this place. Other than that, everything else was fine, very clean, helpful staff and adequate breakfast. ||A word of warning: if you choose to take the airport taxi that the hotel provides (a great price of 70R) be ready for a hair raising ride in a van with no seatbelts, the driver is a certified madman.

This pousada came highly recommended from Lonely Planet, which is usually spot-on. This is the first time they've steered me wrong. The room was small and dirty - sheets were threadbare and torn and the mattress sagged horribly. No hot water in the shower. Wi-fi wasn't working. Flies crawling on the breakfast. Thin curtains on the windows and thinner walls - you hear *everything* at night and rooms are full of light from the hallways. Staff speak NO English, despite the website having a well-written English version. ||||A Belgian couple staying at the hotel was equally horrified. When we complained, the staff suggested we speak to an English-speaking manager, so we waited more than five hours for him (staff kept telling us "just twenty more minutes" - typically Brazilian so not much you can do there). When he arrived and discovered we were complaining, he refused to remove his sunglasses and announced he would only speak to us in Portuguese or Spanish rather than English, which he clearly understood well. He refused to allow us to cancel our reservations - he was correct per the terms of the agreement - so we left and just gave up the money rather than continue to stay there. ||||This pousada is in an amazing location near the beach but it is NOT a good choice for international travelers. Cleanliness and comfort are not priorities, and staff are unwilling and unable to help. There are lots of excellent choices nearby - don't make the same mistake we did by staying here!

I had read a great review on lonely planet, and not checked on tripadvisor, I should have.....I came, a driver picked me up at the airport, nice. I arrived in the guesthouse, I found that it needed a bit renovation....the receptionist asked me to pay the whole stay, first I asked to visit the room, which I didn't like, when i asked to change, of course it has not been possible.....the room was small, not very clean, noisy (on a road full of traffic), there were ants all over the bed, I couldn't sleep at night......I stayed one night, although I had paid 2 nights, of course I did not get my money back.|The only positive point of my stay, is the brand new AC which was working very well.|Avoid, this is not a good place.

I really can't understand why this pousada has such a high rate here, it doesn't worth it's price at all. I was completely dissapointed. Rooms are very small, not comfortable, no windows, bed is awful, everything is VERY DIRTY, really bad smell from the wardrobe, wifi doesn't work in rooms, staff does not speak english but only one guy. But better to find another place, that whould not be a problem for this amount of money.

My wife and I booked this hotel for 2 nights about 10 months in advance for the World Cup.||||Positive: The hotel location is great. It's in Barra which is one of the major tourist areas in Salvador. It's 2 blocks from the beach. ||||Negatives: ||1) They overcharged my credit card months in advance (3 nights instead of 2). It could have been an error or not. I contacted the pousada, asked for reimburse of the overcharged night and they said they couldn't do it, so I had to report a fraud to my bank, change the credit card and get the reimburse 2 months after investigation. ||2) When arrived for check in, the pousada had no room available for us (although they charged my credit card well in advance), so they sent us to a neighbouring pousada (Miraflores - which was ok). ||3) Despite overcharging my credit card months in advance, they tried to make me pay again at the hotel (I easily proved I had already paid) ||All three experiences above were very dodgy (I sincerely believe these could all have been intentional) and made us feel very uncomfortable. Based on all this trouble, I would not recommend this pousada.

Second stay at this pousada, it's a quaint place, staff are quite friendly, room was clean and spacious with good aircon. Breakfast was OK, there was enough, but not as much selection as other places and it doesn't start really early.

I don't think they can have the name of pousada, no space in the room and at the breakfast, the owner didn't want to take the credit card even for several hundred's euros (there are Visa panels everywhere in the poussada)... But when I begin to make a paypal (not enough cash), as we did for the deposit, on his computer, he say to us that we can finally pay with credit card but it 10% more expensive... High sense of bussiness...
