We stayed at this hotel quite by chance and were pleasantly surprised to discover that it’s located right inside the old royal palace building — just across from the magnificent Queluz Palace. The atmosphere is charming, and the service and breakfast were both very good. However, the rooms, while beautifully decorated in a royal style, are definitely in need of renovation. The beds are quite hard, there are not enough conveniently placed power outlets, and the bathrooms could use some improvement. Also, keep in mind that it’s better to have dinner outside the town — the few nearby restaurant options are rather limited.

When we arrived at the hotel we were warmly welcomed by a friendly receptionist who instructed us on practical matters and recommended nearby restaurants. Because we were going to stay there for ten days, we had sent a request for the room via email in advance. We were glad that our wishes were taken into consideration. The room was spacious and the beds were comfortable. Unfortunately, there were no comfortable chairs to sit in for reading. The bathroom was ok, but an upgrade would be needed. For instance, the water pressure in the shower was not sufficient. We liked the varied breakfast. The staff including the manager was service-oriented and friendly. All in all a pleasant stay in a historic building!

There are little comforts or details you are expecting in these 4 star price range hotels, although this room was for 2 and they charged for 2 people, there was only one available chair in the room which made one of us always uncomfortable while the other was using the chair. We were expecting complimentary slippers to walk in the beautiful marble bathroom or for the carpet everyone steps on. It would have been nice to have an extra single cover for the bed. Portugal is not very cold in the fall so the polyester bed cover was too much. There was a lack of a coffe/tea service where they could offer some of the beautiful and rich Portuguese pastries during the day that could also be enjoyed by the palace visitors. Positive sides: beautiful location, ambience, quality of linens, polite and professional hotel staff and good parking availability right in front. We highly recommend this place.

I very much enjoyed my one-night stay. The staff was very nice, the room was large, clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was great. The pousada doesn't serve any other meals, but the very helpful and friendly staff gave several restaurant recommendations that were in walking distance. I recommend requesting a second floor room facing the Palacio Queluz because some of the first floor rooms do look out on the parking lot. It was easy and inexpensive to get here by prearranged taxi from the Lisbon airport, and from here to Sintra by Bolt (I think around 12 Euros). The Palace and Gardens are spectacular, and staying here is very convenient as it is just across the road from the pousada. I was able to tour the Palace when it first opened and nearly have it to myself.

We got married here in August and WOW… I’m still floating! This was hands-down one of the most warm, hospitable experiences we’ve ever had. The staff? Unreal. Rute was a superstar, the kitchen and serving team treated us like royalty, and Gomes? That man deserves a trophy — he helped set up our hall with so much care you’d think it was his own wedding. Every tiny detail was handled with love. My guests felt safe, welcomed, pampered — the whole vibe was just chef’s kiss. Yes, we had a few hiccups during check-in, but honestly we forgot all about it the moment we stepped into our rooms because the rest of the weekend was pure magic. And our wedding day? I still get goosebumps. We had the most beautiful, fun, intimate wedding of my dreams! The team went above and beyond — I didn’t lift a single finger! The food came out hot, fresh, perfectly timed… and the dessert? I am still dreaming about that apple pie🤩 Thank you, Rute. Thank you, Gomes. Thank you to every single person who poured kindness and joy into our day. You helped make my dream day a reality. We’re already planning to come back for an “extra honeymoon” (lol) because how can we not? We appreciate you all so much. 🙏🏽💛

An excellent 2 night stay. Very quiet & comfortable rooms in an intriguing historic building. Breakfast was wonderful- very fresh and a huge selection. The manager was very welcoming & available if needed. Thank you!

I paid about $172/night via Priceline for two nights. Huge, spacious, clean room. Minifridge. Bathroom is fine except water from sink is not good pressure. Large shower with overhead and detachable heads. Plenty of hot water. Excellent buffet breakfast included. No restaurant, but there is a bar. Right across the street from the palace. AC did not work in May so hotel could save money. Friendly, professional staff that speaks English. Large, ungainly hotel keys. Grocery store a ten-minute walk away. Restaurants in vicinity are overpriced. If the AC worked--I don't care if I'm at the North Pole, for $172/night I want the option of cold air--and the hotel had a decent, reasonably priced restaurant, it'd be five stars...

Yelp
Our first palace hotel in Portugal. We love our flexibility able to stay at this luxurious hotel. I was surprised not many people stay here. It is comfortable and nice. The room is classic design to renaissance look. I like the breakfast included in the hotel. Parking is free at outside. The palace hotel just across Queluz National Palace. This is their extension side of the palace. If you stay there, please be sure eat at their king kitchen. The meal selection can add entree with all you can eat dessert on King table. We love this deal. The table is set around the chimney of the kitchen. You can walk below chimney and look up the chimney. I would recommend the duck if you come to the king kitchen for dinner. The hotel breakfast is great. It has a lot of choices. You can look out your window to check if the palace already open to guess in the morning. So you will be the few first entry to the palace. I think this is ideal location to stay a night and visit the palace next morning.
