This hotel is right on the beach and has a great setting. Its not 5 star but its comfortable , clean and perfect place to unwind. The rooms whilst not decorated with modern furniture are functional. Perhaps a better mattress wouldnt go astray. The swimming pool is enjoyable and has lounge chairs . Breakfast is a good cariety of fruits and pastries. The hotel does not have a restaurant. For lunch, a short 50 metres to the left on the beach you will find a restaurant which serves good food. For dinner its more problematic. The restaurants nearby are not good quality. With a car, however, if you head along the coast away from Salvador you will find some better class restaurants. The wifi works fine. The atmosphere is a bit like a bungalow on an isolated Asian beach....perfect if you just want to relax and do nothing.

We spent in Brasil a month and a half, visiting many places and sleeping almost every night in another place. That is why we feel free to spend a good word for the pousada Poesia which was our first accomodation in Brasil. The pousada is located directly on the beach of Itapua (half an hour from the centre of Salvador), which is the best choice for those who want to visit the city but at the same time relax on the beach and stay in a quiet neighbourhood. It is well connected to the airport since it is very close to it, and busses are frequent for Praya do Flamengo and Praya do Forte as well and other nice resorts on the north of Salvador. The rooms are simply but very nicely furnished, they are very clean and comfortable. All rooms have the bar with fresh drinks available. Some rooms have the terrace open on the sea; all guests have access to a quiet garden with a swimming pool where they can have a refreshing capirinha or use the barbecue... The owners are very nice and descreet, they speak many languages (Portuguese, Italian, English, Slovenian etc.) and the breakfast is one of the best we tried in Brasil!

A lovely 2 night stay during the World Cup. Very handy location to the airport as we had an early flight to catch. The Itapua beach suburb is approx 35-40 mins by taxi from Central Salvador, but quieter and the beach is very pleasant. The pool area is lovely with sun loungers and rooms are spacious and well appointed. Breakfast is simple but tasty and the management is friendly and very accommodating. Highly recommended!

the location is ideal here, youre about 15 mins drive from the airport which makes late night arrivals and departures very convenient. its also outside of salvador city but close enough that you can bus to the centro in about 50 mins. Youre right at the start of costa azul which has the nicest beaches like flamengo and guarajuba. My family, which includes my wife and 5yr old, stayed 7 days at this pousada and enjoyed it quite a bit. beach itapoa is not the greatest, its more of a locals beach known for fishing, but it was still good for sunset walks, exploring the many rocks around it, and kicking around the ball w/ my son. the pool in the pousada is really nice too. The staff was great, they did everything for us, called taxis, booked tours, even ordered a pizza for us one night. We also found the city of Itapoa quite convenient, the centro is a short walk from the pousada by street or beach and was bustling w/ people every night. We found some decent restaurants, the best being Churrascaria Laço Gaúcho, which had an all you can eat buffet for 14 reais (with rodizio of bbq: R23). Poesia is not going to be for everyone, as it is a small simple pousada located on a beach that's not the paradise image most have when they think of brazilian beaches, however it made us feel at home and was very convenient for us in planning our daily trips.

So another Luciana and another fabulous experience in Bahia. ||Spent the night in an oceanfront suite with a balcony overlooking the pool and the beach. GREAT room, excellent bedding, excellent bathroom, perhaps the perfect shower ( with hot and cold water valves i.e. no "chuveiro"). ||Wound up here because we needed to leave Morro a day early or risk missing our flights. ||Couldn't ask for better stay. Ever leave a place wishing you had more time to spend there?||Well this is how I feel at the moment. A local beach. A perfect hotel...||Back to reality. Until December 10th

Had a side room with "ocean glimpses". The same side where a couple of dogs are kept - one big, one small. Occasional noise from these, but nothing like the dogs over the road. But, closed windows with air con minimised the impact. There is a function centre next door, but noise stopped early. The Pousada was very accommodating with a comfortable room, nice breakfast and perfect beach location. The supermarket 5 min walk away has everything you need (incl pizza and ATMs). Further 5 min walk gets you to the busy night area with restaurants, bars and disco. The owner drove us to the airport (R$35).

I spent almost everyday at this pousada beginning the day with a swim in the pool and then a breakfast complete with fresh fruit and granola. My room was located toward the back of the pousada but I still had a lovely view of the sea (gorgeous to wake up to). ||The staff were super friendly, and as the place didn't do lunch or dinner I bought some things from the supermarket just 5 mins walk away and they were happy to heat things up for me, and provide plates, cups and things. ||As I was staying for New Year's Eve, they decorated the pousada with balloons and gave each guest a bottle of champagne and fruit basket. As we were right on the beach we were able to go out safely to watch the firework display. ||The pousada is located about a 10min walk away from Itapua centre. The road can be quite dark at night and dangerous for robbery, I had the unfortunate encounter of being mugged at gun point (even though I was with some extended family from Salvador) so I wouldnt recommend walking anywhere in the evening, in the day it was fine. ||I had a lovely stay at Pousada Poesia and would definitely stay there again!
