We thought this the perfect place to stay in one of Brazil's most beautiful small towns. The accommodation left nothing to be desired, yet the price wasn't excessive. The pool was picture-postcard beautiful, and the breakfast was very generous. What's not to like about this combination?

Our stay at Pousada Richard Rothe was a delightful blend of history and comfort. Housed in a beautifully restored 18th-century colonial mansion, this boutique hotel perfectly captures the essence of historic Tiradentes. The carefully preserved architecture, with its original woodwork and period furnishings, creates an authentic atmosphere while offering modern amenities. Walking through the meticulously maintained gardens, watching hummingbirds flit between tropical flowers, and enjoying afternoon tea on the veranda truly transported us to a more graceful era. The intimate scale of the property, with just a handful of rooms, made it feel like our own private estate.||||LOCATION: Perfectly situated in the historic center, just a few minutes' walk from the main square (Largo das Forras) and São José Church. The hillside position offers beautiful views of the Serra São José mountains while keeping us close to all the antique shops, restaurants, and attractions.||||DINE + DRINK:While the breakfast was not a great spread it was satisfying, featuring homemade breads, local cheeses, fresh tropical fruits, and excellent Brazilian coffee. While there's no full-service restaurant, the honor bar system was convenient for evening drinks in the garden.||||ROOM: We stayed in Room 7, so this review is based on that; SIZE: It was more of a Grand SUITE, with a huge living room that came with 2 additional beds, and a big Master bedroom VIEW:No great view as it is a old room with tiny windows ; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting us to sleep; BATHROOM:Good sized bathroom with a Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: Good spa quality coiletries||||FACILITIES: No Gym, but they have a very sweet pool that adds to the charm of the colonial vibe with a jungle backdrop!||||SERVICE: Friendly staff that cared for all our needs with a smile and made us feel at home and well taken care of. ||HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free Wi-Fi that works decently all over the property, and the speed is very PATCHY! Good sized TV dishing out a wide variety of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies, and entertainment primarily in PORTUGUESE! But since it is a smart tv you have access to apps like Netflix, Prime, youtube, etc.

The location was fantastic. We received a very friendly service. The breakfast was delicious. We had the choice of a spacious room. In overall, Quiet environment. Close to the most important tourist attraction of Tiradentes. Good value for money.

The pousada is simply beautiful, tastefully decorated, the staff is friendly, attentive and helpful, and breakfast is generous and very nice. Great location, just one minute walk from key attractions, still very quiet. Highly recommended.

The venue is in a more calm (yet large) street, a complex of old houses restored to accommodate guest rooms - those are spacious, clean, spartan but complete: AC, minibar, open TV (you probably won't use it), free wi-fi (but slow). Rooms look a bit outdated, but in line with concept and decor of the "Pousada" style. Bathroom is complete and spacious. Breakfast offers the "Brazilian Colonial" assortment of pastries, cakes, fruits and even some small pots of typical Brazilian sweets. Staff is very friendly and always ready to offer suggestions on what to do around. The pool is mildly heated (not hot), enough to be used without chills. We've missed some bed lights for reading before call it a day. The hot water is really hot, you probably will pour all cold water and a very small bit of hot one. We got a first floor room, and the stair to there is steep - it might not be suitable for older people, although they do have rooms on ground level.

Firstly im sorry if this is a long review but i feel i owe it to you , future guests, to inform you how poorly run this inn is.|I've been living in Brasil for almost 22 years and frequently visit Tiradentes, lovely spot. Of course during this time i ha stayed in many different inns of varying standards and of course i have my favorites which do not always have rooms availible. So on this opportunity my wife and i decided to try this inn as we had been curious and it is a traditional establishment.|Ok, checkin time was at 2pm , normal for this region but we had to wait 35mins to finally get into our room.|Toilet was blocked immediately!|Great start and the attitude of staff left a lot to be desired.|While waiting for the toilet issue to be resolved we had a look around the room and i have to say were quite disappointed by the qyality of the finishing an furniture, thrift shop comes to mind.|The tiles in the bathroom were left over tiles from the pool area, you can only imagine.|Breakfast was very basic and again late as they had some excuse that the oven was broken, blah, blah!|I can honestly say it is the worst inn i have stayed at , you could do much better for the price, not cheap by local standards!|As i said previously the attitude of the staff, especially receptionist was poor, couldnt care less !|P.s.|Upon looking out the window at the view we found ouselves faced with a web of eletric cables all over the place.|God forbid a young child would let their curiousity get the better of them!!!!!
